17. Not yet.

"Do you need me to take a look at your stitches?"

Jimin asked Rain, who had just taken a shower, and her long wet black locks were covering her shoulders and slightly wetting the white t-shirt she was wearing.

She was sitting on the kitchen counter, sipping on another coffee to regain some energy cause skipping sleep made her weak.

"No, it's fine." She answered and yawned.

He found it weird how her sleep-deprived, bitchy face was still hot.

"Why don't you go to sleep?" He asked in a scolding way. She looked really exhausted.

"It's only 8 pm. I refuse to go to sleep this early." She replied in a deep voice. "Let's go out for a smoke."

She barely lifted and dragged her self out, only to lay on the terrace sofa again. There with her hands behind her head and her feet on the arm of the couch, awaited with a cigarette between her slightly parted lips, for Jimin to light it for her, like moving was too troublesome.

As soon as he saw her, he did and rolled his eyes at her stubbornness.

"You need to cut your stitches, though...It's been days... can you at least let me take a look at it?"

He spoke, but Rain was gazing at the night sky beneath her eyes. Everything looked better when the sun goes down.

"Anyway... you never actually told me how you knew I smoke."

He said, looking at her with a confused smile. She then also smiled mischievously without taking her eyes from the stars.

"That's easy." She answered, then inhaled the smoke.

"You were the only one with yellow nicotine stains between your index and middle finger." She said with a tone stating it was nothing too complicated to notice.

"I wonder how the others hadn't noticed actually... You can find things about anyone if you look closely..." her gaze was still fixated on the stars like an intense movie was playing there.

But the truth is she wasn't looking. She was thinking.

Her next move. What to do.

Meet Sakai? Confront RM? Apologize to J-hope, Jin, and Jungkook for misleading them? Ask someone about the key?

But who? The best option of a person should be RM, being her mother's right hand all this time, so he would probably know.

And most importantly. Ask about how her mother died. It was time.

"So that's how..." Jimin was processing Rain's answer. But he still had more questions.

"What about your training? I mean, you were a simple girl before meeting us. How come you were not afraid of guns, and how you are so fast and good at combat?" Jimin asked, confused. These questions were torturing his mind even before meeting her, from when he read her file.

"Yeah, simple girl..."

Rain smirked and close her eyes, to embrace the soft breeze that was brushing her face.

"Not really."

She opened them suddenly and pressed her lips to a half-smile.

"I was... this is kind of ironic actually..." She grinned to herself.

"I was secretly the leader of the biggest anarchist squat in Stockholm. We had taken over an old unoccupied shoe factory, renovated it internally, and used it as a hideout for political issues. Like a refugee for the misfits. I saw my fair share of guns, drugs, and gangsters around me there... As for the fighting skills... I was just always good at it. My father literally forced me to master martial arts since I remember myself. I know why now..."

She smiled bitterly.

"You know Jimin... don't tell anyone. About what I just told you..."

She looked at him thoughtfully. Deep inside her, though, she was testing him to see if he was trustworthy.

"Why?" He asked, even more, confused now.

"I don't know. It might be as simple as I still don't trust anyone enough to share facts about who I was before. You are the first to know."

She smiled at him. But it was a sweet smile. A different one that she has used till now.

She was changing.

They were changing her.

"Sleep deprivation can lead to bad decisions" Was her last words before she got up to stretch and move to her room, only to fall asleep instantly, with the thought that Suga didn't keep his promise swirling in her head.

What she didn't know was that keeping his promise was the one thing he did all along this time.

Four weeks ago

"I know you met with them again."

Nanami said, staring outside the big glass wall of her room, smoke lingering in the air, from the cigarette between the fearsome woman's tattooed fingers.

"Then why are we talking about it? I should have been found dead on the coast, swollen from the water."

The younger man answered in a numb, fearless way, to hide his genuine emotions.

She turned slowly with precise moves, to look at him with her narrowed phoenix eyes. A mysterious smile was painted on her lips.

"Are you testing my patience?" She lifted her chin to await his response.

"Are you testing my loyalty?" He smirked arrogantly, raising an eyebrow.

"I told you not to meet with them again without me knowing!" Nanami's tone was upturned, and the room's temperature felt like it dropped 10 degrees every second around her. "The others here are getting suspicious of you."

He sighed, furrowing his brows.

"Why do you have to go and do whatever the fuck you want when I specifically gave you orders to follow? At this point, they will find out." She was staring at him, making him feel like a child that almost inserted a metallic object into a socket.

His eyes wandered on the floor for a moment.

"They are trying to find out about her." He looked at Nanami, concerned.

"What have you told them?" She cut him off, and her eyes grew big as a lion's ready to jump on its prey.

"That I will find out from you and inform them." He smiled in reassurance.

She closed her eyes, mirroring his smile.

"No one must find out yet. Not the others, not the ones here, not ever RM. Understood?" Not a blink was escaping this time.

"You are the only one who knows and understands how much I care for her... It's my only weak spot, and they will take advantage of it. Promise me if anything happens, that you won't let Sakai take her. That this rotten family won't lay their filthy hands on her. Promise me that you will bring her here, Suga."

Nanami's facial expression was a rare one, even for him. He knew this woman for so many years, and yet never seen her worried before. Always, she knew what to do, how to pull strings.

"You don't trust them..." He said in a severe tone, filled with confusion.

"Please!" She scoffed, raising an eyebrow.

"You know really well why I don't. I raised these sons of bitches!"

She smirked.

"I trust exactly zero of them to keep their dicks in their pants. And if anything like that happens, I will have to cut their dicks off, one by one, with one of Jin's knives and throw them out of this fucking window."

She continued smirking with sadistic pleasure, then narrowed her piercing eyes into thin lines.

"I hope you wouldn't fall for her either..."

"Please," Suga raised his eyebrows in a majestically arrogant way.

Nanami smiled. She knew him too well. She raised this son of a bitch as well, after all.

Only to grow fonder of him and trust him more than her right hand and her family. She was the only person who could read his face.

And knew too damn well when he lied.

After all, he probably was already in love with her daughter.

Being the only person Nanami trusts, he knew about Rain. Very well. It wasn't pointless, though. She wanted him to help her.

Her facial expression hardened again to a scary, serious one.

"I will be out tonight. Keep the others busy, and wait for further instructions."

Suga nodded with an emotionless face.

"And Suga, in case anything goes wrong..." She closed her eyes like recalling a memory. "I left a metal box in your room. She already has the key..." Nanami looked at her closet.

"Give it to her after exactly a week. If she hasn't killed you all by then..."Her smirk returned, but she could read worry on Suga's face.

"Now go."

She cut him off when he opened his mouth to say something and turned to face the window again.

As he opened the door, they both had a strange feeling.

A weird feeling like seeing each other for the last time.

Back to present

After almost five hours, Rain woke up in the middle of the night. Like a mental alarm clock in her mind went off. She quietly went into the living room and searched for that laptop she previously used. Or any computer that could be lying around. But there wasn't one.

She wanted to find out if Sakai responded, but the hard part would be to achieve that without waking up anyone accidentally.

It was 3 am. Perhaps someone was out, so she could sneak into his room and find his laptop.

But who? She didn't know their schedules. They didn't have a program, actually; otherwise, she would have figured it out by now.

The only sure thing was that Jungkook was there. Suga, though, slept until midday, so he could be out.

"Should I try his room?" she thought.

As she was outside of his door, putting her ear on it, she heard a noise, like a heavy metallic object was placed on a desk.

 "Fuck!"

She murmured and ran through the white marble floor, without making any noise, only to hear the sound of his door opening, the exact moment she silently closed hers.

"Not gonna happen tonight," she sighed as she hugged her soft fluffy pillow to fall almost immediately asleep again.

It was indeed, the seventh day that Suga had brought Rain here.

And it was time for him to fulfill his second promise to his oyabun. He owed her after all.

He couldn't sleep anyway. This could wait until morning, but the more he thought he would have to confront Rain and her questions, the more he wanted to avoid it. Especially if it contained what he thought.

So the only solution in his mind was to leave it in her room.

He would tell RM about that later. Or not. Depending on Rain's reaction. Probably after what she finds inside, she would run away.

Maybe she would decide to follow her family's heritage and lead the other group with Sakai, as she would be supposed to.

Maybe she will stay...

It was troublesome that he did not know the content. He knew all along that Nanami had hidden the key somewhere around, but he didn't want to find it and open it. Actually, he didn't want to be around when Rain opened it.

So he decided to leave it in her room while she was asleep.

He moved quietly even though only Jungkook and he were in the house. The others were out and wouldn't be back until morning. He most certainly didn't want to wake up Rain, though.

So he slowly turned the doorknob of her door and entered the dark bedroom that he knew by heart to navigate his way around, even with closed eyes.

The form of a body covered in sheets was in the middle of the bed.

He left the box on the study and turned to leave when the bathroom door opened, and then with their turn, the lights went on to reveal a smirking Rain staring at him with her arms folded in front of her.

"Are you here to steal my underwear back?"

She stared at him, then the metallic box on the study that wasn't there a moment ago.

"Don't flatter yourself," he rolled his eyes and grabbed back the box to leave the room.

His emotional state probably made him forgot who the person staring at him was.

Rain ran towards him to grab the box that she pretended not to have her eyes on from the minute the lights were on, that now Suga was trying to protect by putting it behind his back.

She elbowed his ribs by crouching on the side and pulled it towards her. He pushed her back, trying not actually to harm her, but she proved to be playing a lot dirtier by kneeing him with force on his balls.

"Seriously?"

He dropped the metallic box that made a vast noise hitting the cold marble and kneeled to put his hands protectively over the area that now was in pain, making him groan.

Rain completely ignored him and opened the wooden dresser that had the drawer with the key inside. She pulled it out completely like last time and used the same pocket knife to crack it open in front of the laying on the floor man in her room.

Suga's eyes widened as he looked at her, inserting the small silver key in the lock, and opened the box. He sat still on the floor, afraid to move closer, afraid to see any of the contents, feeling his heart rapidly beating in his chest.

Rain pulled out of it a small white paper in a post-it size with two words only written on it.

"Not yet"

"What the fuck is this?" She yelled, looking back at the box, which contained nothing more.

"Explain!" she furiously looked at Suga, holding the piece of paper in front of his face for him to read it.

Then the most unexpected thing happened.

He burst into laughter.

Strong, loud chuckles that made him lay back on the floor that he was still sitting on.

"That's so typical of her," He continued laughing, almost making his eyes water and making Rain more furious by every second.

But as she held the paper for him to read, she noticed something more was written on the other side, and she pulled it back to read it.

"He will tell you everything you want to know eventually. Be patient."

Rain formed a soft smile on her face, thinking that not too long ago, her mother was writing this, and weirdly this note matches the current situation. But how?

"I believe this refers to you," she smirked at Suga, who stopped laughing to read the other side of the paper that she now handed him.

He was stunned. Yes, it was for him, but he didn't want to admit it.

That was still so typical of Nanami.

What kind of games was she playing the night she left to meet her death?

"Nope. It refers to whoever you trust more." He said, pushing the floor with his hands to stand.

"Probably whoever you are communicating with secretly," He smirked back to her, giving her a glance that meant he knew everything, before walking to the door.

"If you tell me what happened, then I don't have to," She smiled back arrogantly, but the feeling that was mostly containing her was something else.

She didn't want him to leave. But she also hated the fact that he wasn't sharing this feeling. Or seemed to, at least.

Then he turned, and his captivating smile filled his porcelain face.

He approached her and locked his eyes with hers before saying with a soft and firm voice.

"I will never tell you what happened that night."

And without the smirk leaving his face, he left the room.

"Oh, remember that later Suga..."

Rain was smiling as well, like she unlocked an achievement, while she pulled his phone from her pocket that she stole earlier while elbowing him.

She logged into her mail account that had sent Sakai the message, only to see a short reply.

"Just tell me when and where."

She had already strategically planned it in her mind, so the response was fast.

The door opened suddenly, and Suga caught her with his phone in her hands, smirking.

He walked over to the bed where she was lying with her stomach downwards and her legs swinging up and down.

His face looked annoyed, with his tongue pushing his cheek from inside.

He tried to grab the phone from her hands, but when she pulled it over, her smirk turned into an evil grin, and she rolled on her back and shoved it right into her underwear to pull the same trick she did with Jungkook.

 Forgetting a slight difference.

Suga was not Jungkook.

So he looked at the floor for a moment, then at her with his killer expressionless face, before doing exactly what she wanted.

He leaned over her and put his hand in to take it, feeling her soft skin grazing his hand as he pulled it out, without breaking the eye contact.

And after continuing staring at her, leaning over her for a few seconds, he pulled back, and this time he left.

"I'm not gonna sleep again, am I?"

She asked the empty room.

It didn't reply.

She sighed to herself and bit her lower lip while staring at the ceiling like an answer was coming from there.

But thankfully, she slept. Smiling to herself while thinking of ways to torture Suga tomorrow mentally. Or however long it takes until she cracks him.

The morning she woke up early with a happy, confident feeling even though she had only slept a few hours the last two days.

She went to make herself a coffee, wondering who will be accompanying her today. Probably not Suga, since yesterday that he was supposed to, he wasn't even awake most of the time. It didn't matter anyway. Whoever is going to be, she knew how to handle it.

She felt more and more devoted day by day to the concept of getting her mother's position. And intended to show that from now on.

First, it was training. Getting to know the places, the town, the people she was going to get involved and do business with.

Simultaneously, some physical training, cause let's not forget this is a blood-soaked world. And also, she missed the energy and fire in her soul from when training in martial arts like judo and aikido as she did daily back in Stockholm.

But she wanted to meet with the other clan to see for herself who they were before deciding where she fits better.

After all, they didn't give her the option. How was she supposed to chose where her place is if she hadn't at least met them?

Well, she knew Sakai, unfortunately, a little more than she should. Something that she spitefully blurbed out to RM, but thankfully he took it as a lie.

Now she has to confront him soon, hoping that the man who went so far as to travel across the world, insist on getting his tattoo from her, and tried to bring her back, will be willing to confess what happened the night Suga took her.

The curiosity was eating her alive days and nights, but also her pride was too strong to admit it and directly ask.

He was her only hope.

Speaking of hope, as Rain was preparing a second cup of coffee, J-hope entered the loft through the elevator. He looked tired, his clothes looked wrinkled, probably from wearing them since yesterday, dark circles were formed under his big beautiful eyes, and he smelled like cigarettes even though he is not a smoker.

"Long night?" She smiled at him, making his heart fill with sunshine.

"Shit night." He replied and sat on an empty stool, rubbing his face with his palms.

It was a little awkward considering the two of them never talked or stayed alone for almost a week now. Since the day they went to the beach. Since the day he kissed her in the elevator.

"Are you staying with me today?" She cut to the chase.

"Go take a nap. I'll be fine." She nodded to him towards his room before taking a sip of the freshly brewed coffee.

That was probably the thing she enjoyed most in this house. The luxurious coffee machine that made one of the best coffees she ever tasted.

J-hope shook his head and wrinkled his brows from surprise.

"No. I thought you knew."

"I would like to," he smirked, "but it turns out only Suga will stay with you from now on."

Her eyes opened wide, and her heart jumped from its position.

A feeling of excitement took her over while she desperately tried to hide it, making a disappointed face.

"Well, that's an interesting turnout." She smirked with contempt. "How so?"

J-Hope pressed his lips and thought for a moment before talking.

"Various reasons." He looked at her face, which was telling him to go on. "But mostly because your mother told him to... or something like that."

"What?" Rain was speechless. Her confusion was depicted in her eyes and her slightly open lips.

"Yeah, so you don't know..." He rubbed the back of his neck, looking elsewhere to avoid her interrogating stare.

"He confessed yesterday evening that your mother had ordered him that before she died... And put him in the position to look after you."

"So he knew about me all along? That's why he got first to me... " Rain was thinking with narrow eyes that starred her half-full mug.

"Look, you should talk with him about this stuff..." He cut her off, implying that it wasn't his position to tell more.

Suddenly Rain's face was full of displeasure.

Suga won't talk to her.

She vividly remembered his gorgeous face with that ironic smirk that angered her to the pits of her heart, telling her that he will never, ever, tell her what happened that night.

"He won't talk to me." She bit her inner cheek and tried to avoid thinking from who she caught this habit.

"Then order him to," J-hope said with a devious smirk before getting up to leave for his bedroom.

"Yeah, like that will work."

She scoffed to herself, enjoying the rest of her coffee with uninterrupted thoughts about how to get under his skin or to torture him again, just to see that smirk that made her feel fired up.
