Chapter Six
Hai it's Anya. Sorry that this is just a boring patrol and training chapter, but I just recently received this account from my friend SimpleCalamity, she's really cool, so give her a follow! I like this fanfiction and don't wanna delete it, so I'm going to continue it with her intended plot line. Still getting a feel of these characters, so bear with me, I'll get to interesting things soon!!
"Fallenpaw, if you don't hurry, we'll miss dawn patrol!" Hollowpaw whined from outside. I blinked open my eyes, yawning. My brother could be so annoyingly eager at times.
"Who even wants to go on dawn patrol, anyway?" I shot back, still groggy from sleep. I could practically hear the light grey tom's cringe. "Okay, okay, sorry. I'm coming," I sighed, sitting up and giving my fluffy calico tail a quick grooming. Padding out of the now-empty apprentices' den, I noticed the three mentors sitting close, probably sharing about their apprentices. Whisperecho looked slightly annoyed, as usual, Aspenwind's brown-and-white tabby pelt was sleek and slightly windswept, and Timberfall's bright gold eyes were alert and gentle. Rustpaw was in the corner looking his usual- grumpy and annoyed with life.
"Hey, Fallenpaw, Hollowpaw!" Aspenwind called to us, and we padded over to our mentors. The tabby she-cat beckoned to her fellow warriors and Rustpaw, and the cats gathered at the entrance of the camp.
"Why do I have to go with them?" Rustpaw complained, his red fur fluffed up in annoyance. "They're so young and immature." I bristled at the comment; he was only a moon older than us.
"Why don't you go eat foxdung?" I hissed bitterly, my calico fur spiking up to twice my size. Rustpaw scoffed and I unsheathed my claws and bared my teeth. Over the two moons I had been training with my brother, Aspenwind, and Mapleshade's Clan, I had learned quiet a lot about fighting and was confident in my ability to take him down.
"Fallenpaw!" Aspenwind's sharp command stopped me from taking his ears off then and there. "You are not to attack another clanmate!" I narrowed my eyes at him, but sheathed my claws anyway.
"And Rustpaw," Timberfall's growl surprised us both. "It's not all Fallenpaw. You're at fault here, too." The russet-furred apprentice sighed, rolling his green eyes, but he obeyed the red-and-white she-cat.

Rustpaw proved to be a pretty good opponent during battle training. He had some good moves, for being an obnoxious furball. He was only eight moons, it's not like he was leader or anything.
"Again." Whisperecho mewed to Hollowpaw and Rustpaw. The two toms shook out their matted fur and lunged at each other again. They scuffled in the dust until Hollowpaw came out on top and pinned the russet apprentice. The light grey tabby tom looked rather surprised, and I have to say I was as well. Rustpaw had got a full moon of training before we had our apprenticeship, and Hollowpaw wasn't much of a fighter. "Good, Hollowpaw." Whisperecho's black-and-grey tail twitched in amusement. "Try it with Fallenpaw."
I stood up and padded over to my brother. His golden eyes were round and shining like Silverpelt.
"Don't think I'll go easy on you," I smirked before launching myself at the smaller tom.
I tackled him almost immediately, and hardly struggled as I pinned him down. My forepaw held to his neck as he struggled under my grip. I smiled and hopped lightly off my brother, his fur caked with sand and dust. He shook his pelt as he got up, and both Rustpaw and I were covered in a fine layer of soil.
"Rustpaw. Try it with Fallenpaw." Aspenwind suggested. He bared his teeth at me, not even bothering to get into proper position before he barreled into me, knocking my breath away. I sprang back up, only to be met with a paw to the face. I kicked the russet tom away, but he caught my paw in his jaws and bit down. That did it. I switched from the feeble moves we'd learned in training to Mapleshade's lessons. My claws raked down his ear and my jaws snapped at his throat, just barely missing. He was in shock, and I pinned him easily, my claws in his shoulder.
Not now, young one. Mapleshade? They must view you only as loyal and good. Kill him later. I nodded. It made sense. But what would I say? This was all an accident. You were simply carried away. Besides, he bit you first.
"Fallenpaw!" Aspenwind screeched. "What was that? Get off Rustpaw right now! Who told you to use claws?" The brown-and-white tabby threw me off. I did my best to look shocked and terrified.
"I- I got carried away!" I protested, making my voice crack in fake horror. "He bit my paw and I...." Not being able to come up with a believable excuse, I allowed my legs to crumple under me. I gasped for air. Aspenwind's cold gaze softened.
"We all make mistakes. His wounds are just minor scratches. Explain to Boulderstar and Oakstar what happened and you're off the hook."
I nodded and stood up, forcing my legs to shake slightly, I padded slowly out of the training hollow. Once I was out of sight, I loped steadily back to the camp entrance, making sure to put my act up again once I brushed through the bush. I made my way steadily over to the leaders' den, calling softly into the entrance.
"Come in," Oakstar mewed. I entered, and sat in front of the dark brown she-cat. "What can I do for you, Fallenpaw?"
"I- I accidentally hurt Rustpaw during training. He bit my paw and I scratched him..." Her blue eyes narrowed. I cut in, trying to win her over. "It- it was an accident! I've been really tired lately, and I guess I wasn't thinking straight! Please don't exile me, I'm really sorry! I'll make it up to you! I'll-"
"Don't overwhelm yourself, dear. Everyone has off days. I'm sure Rustpaw will be fine." She soothed. I exhaled. Her purr rumbled softly as she whispered one last thing. "It wouldn't be fair to punish you since undid the same thing when I was younger. I got away with it, too!" She let out a small laugh. I dipped my head and stood up. "Why don't you rest, Fallenpaw? You deserve a break." Thankful, I nodded and padded out of the den. Oakstar was nice enough, I was just worried about my father. Boulderstar would expect better from his daughter. I'd probably be confined to camp for a moon. I'm glad he wasn't there. I groaned to myself.

This one's long! Phew! I'll post the next chapter soon, but I'm really glad to see how nicely this is coming along.
I haven't forgotten about Memorysight's kits, they'll be apprentices next chapter.
Well, as always, thanks for reading and I'll see you around!
