jane released the lever that she had been holding down with a lot of effort and the windows of the attic shut once again with a loud thud, leaving them once again the darkness. the brunette raced to vienna's side and grabbed her by the arm to help her out of bloody harry's way. but instead of accepting her help, the heiress decided to use jane as bait that would help her escape. now that she knew where the lever was, she felt she no longer needed the last remaining girl. she did not know what jane knew: that in order to hold the doors open, someone had to stay behind and hold the lever down.

gathering all her remaining strength that was quickly draining, she grabbed jane and pushed her towards bloody harry, just as she had done with glenda earlier and she took off further into the attic. jane fell to the floor right in bloody harry's path, and she closed her eyes tightly, awaiting her death. 

the ghost of the old hospital went right past her as though he hadn't even noticed she was there, and instead followed after the selfish heiress that only wanted to save herself. jane could only watch in horror as he followed behind vienna price slowly, while the heiress herself could barely walk due to her time in the hypnosis chamber.  

"why does he keep chasing after us?" vienna huffed tiredly, looking over her shoulder to see he was still on her trail.

"you summoned him." jane explained to her, still on the ground. "and like that night, he wants to make sure no one survives."

jane was quick to get on her feet and she hurried for the manual lever once again. pulling on it with all her strength, she yelled to vienna, "i'll hold it open as long as i can! find something to hold it open for me as well." she pleaded, though she doubted vienna price would do anything to help her. instead, she looked around the darkness of the attic for her own solution. 

vienna hurred to the now open windows of the attic and got down onto her hands and knees in order to climb out to the side of the building. just as she had predicted, vienna was too interested in saving herself to even think of helping the other girl. jane had spotted a piece of rope nearby and grabbed it quickly, wrapping it around the lever from one end and tying the other end to a metal post that was a few feet away from her. the space from the lever to the shutters was a distance away from where she stood and she wasn't sure if the rope would hold long enough.

but she had to try.

the second she finished tying the end of the rope to the metal post, she took off running for the only available exit.

dun dun dun :o will she make it out of there alive? guise there are two more updates left for this story. im so fucking excited for the new book that im going to write in this series. a lot of you said that you would read a second part, so im already working on one ^.^ it will most likely be up (the blurb thing) by monday night.
