12:05am

the tears were unable to stop as they ran down jane's troubled face. the last thing she wanted was to spend the entire night there. but vienna price didn't seem nearly as worried. she was more amused about the whole ordeal than anything. "why are you crying?" she asked jane. "we'll be fine here, nothing can get in."

"and nothing can get out." jane spat. her words found a way to send a chill down vienna's spine.

"you know something you're not telling us." glenda accused, pointing her index finger at jane

but jane shook her head. "its nothing we didn't warn miss price about. it was all on the contract her father signed."

nancy gulped. "will you tell us why you're so worried?"

jane sighed and began to explain to the teenaged girls. "you all wanted a thrilling birthday party with mystery and murder, now we're all going to get it. a long time ago, when this hospital was open, many horrible things happened."

"like what?" susannah wondered.

jane continued, "the patients here were treated horribly by their doctors. but there was a particular boy, he was used for various tests because no matter what they did to him, he wouldn't die. many of their subjects would die during the experiment, but not harry. he was different."

"you mean..." glenda gasped. "bloody harry?"

"yes." jane  nodded. "do you know why they call him bloody harry?"

when they all shook their heads no, jane continued.

"one day he got tired of being at the mental hospital because rather than helping them, the doctors only played with them like they were rag dolls." she paused for a moment, a chill ran down her spine as she remembered the story. she had heard it several times growing up because her parents had purchased the old building. they had tried to open it up as a museum, but each time they were close to opening, a strange death would happen in the building and they had to post pone. "he got together with other patients and they took their revenge against the doctors and nurses. they killed many doctors, but bloody harry took out more than everyone else. he became vengeful and blood thirsty."

"and then what happened?" nancy wondered.

"they planned to escape after the murders, so they started a huge fire in the hospital, so that it could never be used again. but there was one doctor who survived, and he locked all the doors, trapping everyone inside. everyone died in the fire. and now, legend has it, that if you say bloody harry in the mirror five times, he will appear and he will kill you." she finished with the story.

the girls only watched her in awe. everything sounded so unreal, like she had taken it right out from a horror movie. but most of them vaguely knew the legend and knew it was true.

"the doors lock every night at midnight." jane told them. "and they don't open up again until eight in the morning. so, if you'll excuse me, i'm going to go up to the attic to see if i can open the doors manually." after she told them that, she tried to walk away, but vienna linked arms with her again to stop her.

"not so fast." grinned the birthday girl. she dragged her along to the bar area in the lobby, where there was a large mirror. "i want to play a little game of courage."

"vienna!" susannah shouted. "do you have a death wish?"

"it'll be fun." the rich girl said. "i dare you all to do it. if you do this and survive the night, you each get a million dollars."

jane wrenched herself out of vienna's grip. "i'm not doing this. i don't want to die."

"its just a game." vienna insisted.

"i'll do it." nancy shrugged, she was still in vienna price's circle of friends, but she needed the money. her father had recently lost a lot of money after a wrong business investment. one million dollars wasn't enough to live the way they did, but it was just enough to hold them until they could regain their fortune.

how hard could it be?

"bloody harry," vienna began, jane closed her eyes and covered her ears as the rest of the girls joined in, looking into the mirror. "bloody harry, bloody harry, bloody harry, bloody-"

jane grabbed an ash tray from a nearby coffee table and threw it at the mirror behind the bar table. it shattered into a million pieces, startling the girls. "stop!" jane told them. "please stop. this isn't a fucking game."

"bloody harry." vienna finished.

and jane  knew in that moment that they were all lost.
