Chapter 5

The vamp- the man- Jay- whatever the hell that thing was lunged at the wide-eyed boy. Jay screamed as he was finally shrouded completely in eternal shadow.

"Jay?!"

"Jay!!"

"Oh my god! Guys, he's waking up!"

Nya's panicked (or relieved?) voice filled Jay's ears, like a soothing melody playing in his ears. A frantic melody, but still.

Jay blinked his eyes open and slowly lifted his now-heavy head off of his pillow. He was in... bed? How the hell did he get in here?

The other ninja rushed in and smiled at the stable state of their brother. Jay wanted to smile too (Really he did! He was safe from his visions!), but confusion filled his mind. "Ugh... What happened?" He groaned. His throat was terribly sore, making his voice hoarse and unbearable. Jay ran a few fingers through his mop of red as the others silently debated who would tell what happened.

It was Zane who decided to tell him.

"I was the one who found you unconscious on the shower floor. I thought that you were dead when I first saw you. The water was extremely cold, and you hit your head hard on the wall. You were losing incredible amounts of blood. I still don't understand how you weren't dead, after all that blood you lost. No human alive should be able to-"

"Get on with it, Zane." Kai complained, rolling his eyes. "I don't think Jay wants to hear you drone on about his blood. It's kinda making me sick too."

Zane nodded. "Right. I apologize." He thought for a minute and began speaking again. "I believe I'll start with when you left us so you could retire to bed."

The story unfolded with Jay running away from his brothers. Everyone shrugged off his absent-minded ness and met Nya inside for dinner. Apparently, Nya installed a security system in Zane, which allowed him to go on alert whenever danger occurred in Ninjago. This included security cameras in his vision (Which connected to his falcon's vision as well, another thing Nya installed), and an "artificial sixth-sense" that gave him the feeling something was wrong.

All throughout dinner, Zane was distant. Although the falcon's vision and security cameras assured him everything was fine, his gut feeling was going haywire. He also could have sworn he heard Jay scream. Everyone assured him everything was alright, but he still didn't know. After dinner, Zane rushed to the shower, where he was sure something went wrong. The water was still running after two hours, and he knew even Jay wouldn't be that much of a forgetful soul to forget to turn off the shower.

Zane stood in horror as he saw his brother, almost drowning in the freezing water, his blood spilling into the water.

Zane immediately cleaned up Jay's body as much as he could. After this, he dried his brother as fast as he could with a towel and clothed him in the warmest clothes he could find. Zane had called for the others for help as soon as Jay was dry and dressed... And still bleeding.

Nya was the only one out of them all who could stitch up his wound, with her medical experience that Jay had no idea about. It was all very surgical and confusing, but with Nya's knowledge, Zane's scanners to help track Jay's heart rate, and the help of the other ninja retrieving supplies, Jay's life was saved. They kept him warm in bed, and let him sleep for three days ((Three days?!)), until he woke up this very day.

Cole smiled. "Y'know Jay, if it wasn't for Zane, you could be dead right now."

Jay remained silent and instead thought about how he could have possibly survived through all that blood loss. Had he... died?

All of a sudden, someone burst through the door, interrupting his morbid thoughts

"JAY!" It was none other than the little pipsqueak, Lloyd Garmadon. "You're awake! Can you take me to the arcade? Pretty please? Kai doesn't want me to go because it's 'too dangerous' and Cole was talking about his cake wife or something and I wanted Nya to take me but she told me video games weren't good for my head or eyes or something so I asked Zane and he said he wasn't sure about me going to a public area at a time like this and I just wanna gooooo"

Jay laughed and ruffled Lloyd's platinum hair. "Sorry, lil' man. I kinda just woke up from my three-day coma, so I'm not in the best mood to go to places."

Nya nodded. "Yeah, that's right, Lloyd. I'm sorry, sweetie, but Jay needs his rest. Maybe I'll take you tomorrow if you do your chores and eat your vegetables. And don't think I don't see you throwing them in the trash. You are fortunate enough to be given food everyday, so be grateful."

Lloyd gulped and rushed to his room. "And I better see every candy wrapper cleaned up when I come in there!" Nya called after him.

Kai chuckled to himself.

"What are you laughing about?" Nya demanded.

Kai wiped tears from his eyes as he continued to laugh. "I'm sorry. It's just- just, oh my god, you totally sounded like mom when you yelled at him-"

"I didn't yell at him. And I'm just trying to make him be more grateful of the life he's been given. If I were in his position at that age, I would feel like a princess."

Kai sighed and turned to the other two ninja. "Okay guys, I think it's time for training now. Nya, can you stay with Jay? I think he needs the *wink wink* moral support!"

Kai laughed and spun on his heel, a smirk appearing on his face, the other two following close behind in a panic as Nya threw frustrated, embarrassed remarks at her brother.
