Beads of sweat dropped down Jay's cheeks. Kai's focused amber eyes glared right into the blue ninja's. Dammit. What was he gonna do?

"Where the hell were you last night?" Kai demanded. "I don't recall you ever coming back to bed."

Jay swallowed. Okay, so Kai didn't know he was in bed naked with Nya. Good start, good start...

"I was nervous about Nya, so I, uh, I left to go check on her." Jay left it at that, hoping that Kai would leave him alone after that.

He didn't.

"You didn't sleep with her, did you?" Kai was pressing on and on, making Jay even more nervous than before.

"No, I didn't." Jay tried to seem cool and collective, hoping he wouldn't burst into a panic attack. "I... I guess I just fell asleep in her bed. I'm scared for her Kai, what with all the reports on... I dunno, vampires and such."

Kai pinched the bridge of his nose, pacing the floor in front of the tall ginger. "Jay, I... Look, I'm just..." He sighed and looked Jay directly in the eyes. "I'm sorry, okay? It's just that Nya and I have been alone for so long... I'm just too overprotective of her. That's my vice, okay? I can't let her go... I know that she's fine on her own but..."

Jay nodded. "I understand that, but I want to let you know that you can trust me with her, okay Kai?"

Kai slowly nodded his head, but averted his eyes from Jay. "Yeah... Sure. Sorry about all this, man."

"No, it's okay. It was my bad." Jay confessed. "C'mon, let's go train, Firecracker."

"Don't call me that."

Even after a long day of training, Jay's mind still wasn't clear. What was he doing in bed with Nya anyway? Kai... Why did he seem so upset? What was going on? ...Where was Bliv?

'Wake me up later. I'm not in the mood today.'

'Still full?'

'No, but your constant human questions are depriving me of sleep. Leave me alone'

'Jeez, sorry.'

A better conversation was coming up anyway. Jay spotted Nya heading towards him.

Jay's heart sank. She looked upset... She had been crying.

"Jay... I need to talk to you." Nya whispered, her voice breaking, choking back tears.

"O-okay, sure, what is it?" Jay stuttered, unsure what to do.

Nya pulled him into the nearest room and shut the door.

"Jay... I'm so sorry, but..." She started to cry, her tears blocking what she was about to say.

Jay wrapped his arms around her, slowly rocking her in his embrace. She gently pushed him away, tears streaming down her face.

"Jay... I..." She took a deep breath and locked her eye contact onto him. "We need to break up."
