CHAPTER SIXTEEN
Ryan and Michelle were in for quite the treat, walking into the station, everyone was in a chaotic frenzy. Rushing around like maniacs, good thing they drank their morning coffee beforehand. They walked up to Chester who had his computer out typing furiously. "Chester? What's going on here?" Ryan asked the other man.
Chester looked up at Ryan and Michelle, "The entire system shut down, I've been trying to override the firewalls but I keep getting locked out. Everything is down." He explained.
Ryan and Michelle's expression did a complete one eighty, their computer system was broken. How in the heck were they going to get stuff done? "Do you know who was able to bypass security?" Michelle questioned.
Chester shook his head, "No, they're clearly experienced, and I highly doubt it's one of our guys, since I'm the only tech guy. If I don't fix this in the next 24 hours, every single file will be erased."
Ryan turned to his partner, "Which means Alice's case will be gone too." He said. They went to their capitan to figure out how to help, she was currently on the phone shouting profanities at the poor person on the opposite end. She furiously slammed the phone hanging up and looked at Ryan and Michelle. "What do you want us to do Capitan?" Ryan asked.
"You can help by getting Chester to locate that IP address and arrest the fool who decided to mess with my department." The two of them nodded and went to the IT office and started trying to help him.
And just when they thought it couldn't get worse, the lights turned off. Now they really were in the dark. The stupid storm caused everything to go black, cause that was certainly what they needed. Great, just great. Meanwhile with Scott after the school fight he had with Austin, other kids have been terrified to even look him in the eye.
He didn't care, he was just glad that he was being left alone for once in the past few months. He's been trying to hang low on the radar for the most part, as for Austin he hasn't been near Scott. Which was fantastic compared to relentless bullying that had been going on for years. He had another therapy session today, he had no doubt in his mind that his parents set it up after they found out about his cutting.
Scott had never felt so hopeless in his life, did it even have any meaning? What was his purpose? He wished Alice could give him the answers. It's weird to think how long she's been gone, he even realized he hadn't been to her grave in a bit. "I'll go visit her after school tomorrow, since I have that session with Dr. Hendricks." He thought.

As Ryan and Michelle rushed around with flashlights in hand, they rushed to the power grid in the sub basement of the precinct. Ryan began checking each switch, they were all on the correct switches, meaning they weren't tampered with manually. Someone somewhere and somehow hacked into the power grid. "Why did this have to happen today? Why now for god's sake!" He shouted.
"What do we do now?" Michelle asked.
"First, we check the generator in the storage room, then we go back to Chester and figure out how to track that IP address." Ryan and Michelle ran to the storage room, finding the generator and began dabbling with it. Hoping they were actually doing what they were supposed to, when miraculously, the power came back. "Good job Bowen." Michelle congratulated.
"Thanks, now let's go." They went back to Chester and he was still frantically typing on his computer. He saw them and beamed, "Thank the lord you guys came back, I found where the IP address came from." He said.
"Great, send us everything you've got." Michelle told him.
Meanwhile with Scott he decided to go over with the evidence he and Tyler found, he went to Tyler's house to grab him and as he stood at his front door he was greeted by Maya and her wife Isla. He hoped Tyler would be able to go with him, but his parents were probably mad at him for getting Tyler into trouble. "Hi Mrs. and Mrs. Woods." He said.
"Hi Scott, how are you doing?" Maya asked.
Scott sighed, "I'm good, probably closest to good I've been in a while. I understand if you're mad at me about Tyler, but could we hang out at the park today?"
Maya smiled, "I'm glad you're okay Scott, and yes you can hang out with Tyler, but he better be here in an hour, on the dot. Not a minute less." He smiled, thanking them, and seeing Tyler run down the stairs up to him.
"Be back in an hour, if you're late then you're getting grounded even longer." Isla told her son.
"I promise mom, see you guys later!" Tyler got his bike out of his garage and met with Scott by the sidewalk. Scott had that look in his eyes, he had something planned, Why couldn't he just text me and tell me what we were going to do? He thought.
"For your information, I would have texted, but you're technically grounded. So it was safe to assume your phone was confiscated." Tyler's mind was boggled.
"How did you know what I was thinking?!" He exclaimed.
Scott chuckled, "One, because I know you better than anyone else, and two, you said it out loud instead of in your head, you do that a lot." Tyler sighed, and they rode off into town, and when they passed the park, Tyler instantly knew where they were going.
They arrived at the station, Scott had the bullet in his backpack, and judging by the look of the station it was chaos. They walked in up to the front desk, and were met by the receptionist, who's name tag read: Isaac though she was staring intently at her watch checking the time Every. Single. Second. "Excuse me, can we speak to Detective Bowen?" Scott asked.
She looked up at the two teens, "Detective Bowen is busy, but I can take a message." She told them.
"It's really important ma'am, we found something that Detective Bowen might need for the murder investigation of Alison Blair." Tyler said.
She took a double take, realizing who she was talking to, she got up and told them to come with her, they strode through the precinct to Ryan and Michelle. Even though they were getting ready to leave, Ryan saw the boys and was confused, Why were they here? He thought. He nodded to Officer Isaac, and she left, then Ryan spoke to Scott. "Hey Scott, are you okay? What are you guys doing here?" He asked.
"Can we talk to you both in private?" Scott answered. Ryan and Michelle took them to an empty interrogation room, wondering what the kids wanted to tell them. Scott dug through his backpack, grabbing the plastic baggy that held the bullet and putting it on the table.
"We found this at the crime scene, something wasn't adding up, don't worry we didn't touch it with our hands. And before you ask, we already know we weren't supposed to go and search for stuff, but we did and found the bullet." Scott explained.
"And how you guys missed it is beyond me, it's a-" Tyler tried saying before Michelle cut him off.
"A forty two callibar." She said.
"That's from the same gun used to kill Alice and that other young woman. How did the forensics team not find it?" Ryan questioned.
Michelle sighed, "I don't know, but now we have more evidence. We still need to head to that place Chester found from that IP address."
"Right. You boys need to head home, and please, for your own safety, do not go searching crime scenes. Thank you for bringing this in." Ryan said, before leading the boys out of the station seeing them get on their bikes and go. He and Michelle then got in his car and drove off to the location Chester texted him.

Ryan and Michelle came to a stop, in front a suburban house just a few miles outside of the tiny Krebess town. They got out of the car, and approached the house, seeing a blue Ford truck in the driveway, carefully getting to the door, Ryan knocked on the wooden door, there was no answer, he tried again and nothing happened.
"Go through the back." He told her, she nodded and started walking around the house with her gun raised. He waited at the door, and Michelle came back around, she whispered. "Someone's definitely in there, the back door is locked, but I saw movement. So you should probably kick the door in since knocking isn't working." She said.
Ryan got her to back up and he kicked the door in, raising his gun, and entering with Collins checking every room in the home. They went upstairs, to a room that was dark seeing a man sitting at a desk, while the computer screen illuminated half the room. "Put your hands up, where we can see them." The person did what they were told.
"Now slowly get up, and put your hands behind your back. You're under arrest." The man got up from his seat and put his hands behind his back. Michelle put handcuffs on him and got him outside. Once they did they put him in the car and went back to the police station. Taking him into an interrogation room.
Ryan came into the room, holding a file, it was most likely Alice's case, "Right, you got something you wanna tell me?"
The man looked up at him, his eyes were menacing, but Ryan was neither afraid nor intimidated. "Maybe, maybe not. It depends Detective."
