CHAPTER FOUR

Since it was Friday Scott's parents needed him to take a break, they knew Tyler invited him to have a sleepover, so they wanted him to have a little fun. Laura and Michael hated seeing their son so upset about Alice's disappearance.

She's been missing for thirty six hours now, which means she's been gone for three days. In those three days, Scott's anxiety has been at an all time high. He was jittery and acted as if he was bouncing off the walls.

Laura and Michael were sitting on their bed in their bedroom. Laura with a book in her hand, as Michael held her hand. He kissed her temple. He didn't want to give up on finding his daughter.

He hoped when she was found that she's safe and unharmed, he felt horrible. Laura has been trying to be calm and collected but Micheal could tell his wife was scared, whenever she was she'd get quiet, really quiet.

He turned to her, "What's on your mind, love?" He asked.

Laura leaned her head on his shoulder, "I just want Alice home, I want to hold her, and I want Scott to not worry about her." She started crying. Michael took her in his arms and held her as she cried.

"We're going to find her Laura, and once we do everything will be okay, I promise."

As he sat on his bed Tyler looked at Scott, he tried everything to cheer him up, from watching his favorite movies, eating his favorite foods, absolutely everything. He couldn't blame Scott for not being in a good mood, his sister is missing.

"So... what do you wanna do now?" Tyler asked.

Scott shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, whatever I guess." He mumbled.

Tyler sighed, "C'mon, you and I are going out, I know something that'll cheer you up." Tyler grabbed Scott's hand, pulling him up leading them both out of Tyler's room sneaking downstairs and past Tyler's parents.

Once they got to the front door they put on their coats and shoes and quietly got outside and hopped onto Tyler's bike. "Where are we going?" Scott asked.

"To get some ice cream, then to a quiet hiking trail." Tyler replied.

They continued on their way and got to their local ice cream shop, walking into the place and up to the counter, and ordering their ice cream. After they got their sweet treats, they got back on Tyler's bike and headed to the trail.

Once Tyler & Scott got to the trail Tyler parked his bike and followed Scott down the trail, as they were walking side by side together Tyler noticed Scott was starting to smile a little. They talked about new video games coming out.

They walked through the forest Scott looked up at trees, Scott thought the trees were towering over them. He felt so small compared to those massive earthly barks of leaves.

The more looking around they did Scott noticed something tall and sphere shaped. He looked to Tyler, "Am I just seeing things, or do you see that thing too?" He asked, pointing towards the random object.

Tyler shook his head, "I see it too, what is it?" He asked.

"I don't know, why don't we check it out." Tyler nodded and they began walking to the object, who would leave something like that in a public hiking trail? As they stalked closer a horrible wretched smell radiated the air. Both teens felt like they were going to hurl.

"Scott, I think we should call the police, they'll probably know what to do with that thing, let's get back to the start of trail." Tyler advised.

Scott thought about it, maybe they shouldn't mess with the item until the authorities get there, otherwise they could be messing around with someone else's property. Tyler took out his phone and dialed 9-1-1.

Meanwhile with Detective Bowen, he was reading up on other kidnapping cases. Trying to find a pattern with an old case to see if it connected with Alice's case. Michelle had gone for the night but some other officers were still at the station along with Ryan.

As he was reading on the of Lucy Sanders case his phone rang and he picked it up and answered. And soon he got up and called Michelle to meet him at the location.

He got in his car and drove off.

When Ryan arrived at the trail he was met by Tyler and Scott, wait what in the world is Scott doing here? Ryan thought, he then turned and saw Michelle walking towards him and the kids. "Wait what is the Blair kid doing here?" She asked.

"We found something weird down the trail, it's straight ahead and it had a really bad smell." Scott explained.

"What are you kids doing here?" Ryan asked.

"I wanted to cheer Scott up so I brought him here, I've been down this trail before and nothing weird has happened until now." Tyler said.

"Alright, you two should head home, thank you for calling us instead of messing with whatever that object is." Michelle said.

The teens nodded and walked back to Tyler's bike getting on it and riding away. Ryan and Michelle began walking down the trail, they wondered what the boys found that creeped them out as much as it did.

Michelle turned to Ryan, "I wonder what they found, how did they describe it over the phone?"

"Tyler said it was a tall sphere and circular object, they weren't close enough to get a better look." Ryan replied.

They continued talking and walking but the closer they got the gross smell got stronger, they got even closer to it but the smell was so overwhelming their eyes were watering and they had to cover their noses and mouths.

"We need to call CSU, there's definitely a body in there. But we're not gonna tamper with it." Ryan said. (CSU stands for Crime Scene Unit, I've watched a lot of law enforcement shows.)

Once CSU got there and sweeped the place checking out the entire area. Now Ryan and Michelle were playing the waiting game, the one thing running through Ryan's mind was: Please don't let it be her, don't let it be Alice.

Tyler and Scott returned to Tyler's house fortunately getting past his parents without being detected and getting ready for bed. Unfortunately for Scott tomorrow would be a terrible nightmare.
