Part 2

Ethan sat on his bed the next morning, looking down at his lap. Tears rolled down his eyes as he thought of the past he'd lost. Who was he? What was happening? Why had he lost his memory? He burned for answers, and sobbed silently. Maybe someone at the village would know him. Jackson got up.

"Morning!"Said Jackson.

"oh...Good morning!"Ethan smiled, wiping away his tears, hoping Jackson hadn't noticed. He smiled dimly.
"You know, we're  heading toward the village today."Jackson said. "We can leave after breakfast."

An hour later

"We must be close... I can smell it!"Ethan grinned, showing his slightly sharper-than-average teeth.
"No, Ethan. We have about a quarter mile to go."
"Okay..."Ethan said. He could smell the bread in the bakery, meat roasting in other places.
"Race ya!"Ethan laughed, taking off. Jackson darted after him, trying to keep up. Ethan outdistanced him, surprising even himself with his speed. He ran as fast as he could, and laughed with the joy of running. He ran into the town, slowing reluctanty to a stop. He saw Jackson puffing as he went to Ethan.
"Damn, kid. You run like a horse!"Jackson laughed, high-fiving Ethan. Ethan smiled, and went straight to where meat was roasting. Jackson smiled and bought them both some steaks. Ethan smiled at him, and took a bite out of the steak. The juicy flavor filled his mouth, and he smiled, eating at least five.
"What the hell?"Jackson laughed. "Didn't you eat your fill at breakfast? What's with your appetite?"Jackson laughed, and Ethan shrugged. "I don't have any idea what's with my appetite for rare steak..."Ethan smiled.
"Perhaps it's something you'll find in one of your memories?"Jackson asked.

"Perhaps..." Ethan said. They spent a few hours looking for anyone who knew Ethan, but no luck. Then they heard a voice from behind them.
"All right. Just hand over all your money, you two, and you may come out of this alive. There are four of us, two of you."
