Chapter Two
"Let us know what?" V asked and everyone at the table froze. Camilla immediately snapped out of it before turning to look at V and Micheal.
"Let you guys know that everyone offering literature will be grouped into two for an assignment that'll take up fifty percent of your total score.", Camilla answered smartly. "Sean didn't want to tell both of you about it. I don't know his reason though" she added and Sean nodded in agreement.
"I wanted you two to find out about it the hard way." Sean added. V didn't buy it but Micheal had already made himself comfortable in a seat beside Camilla. V took a seat beside her brother before looking around the cafeteria.
"What's wrong with everyone?" She asked nodding towards the students who were gaping at them specifically at her and her brother.
"They are probably noticing my awesomeness, don't you think so?", He asked nudging Camilla and she nodded absentmindedly. Her gaze, more like her glare, was fixed on brown haired boy wearing a football jacket with the school logo on it.
"Who's that?", Micheal asked a bit annoyed that a boy could take away his angel's attention.
"Jordan Stone", Sean replied and Micheal looked at him in confusion, "He is Camilla's mortal enemy and he doesn't even know she exists." Sean said and Camilla sighed looking at her food.
"There is no way he is a football player and at the same time, gets straight A's. It's not possible." Camilla said.
"How do you know he's not smart enough to juggle the two?" Micheal asked earning him a glare from Camilla, "don't bother, he's evil." He added immediately trying to appease her.
Scarlett stood up with her tray and took her bag, "I'm not hungry anymore. I'll see you in class, Camilla." She said before leaving. Sean knew exactly why she was leaving and he stood up to follow her. Camilla realized that she'd be left with Micheal who would keep bugging her and V who doesn't care about anything. She tried to stand but a hand held her in place.
"They are probably having a little fight. You don't want to be a third wheel when they are talking, do you?", Micheal asked and Camilla sighed dejectedly knowing he was saying the truth.
Micheal stood up and occupied Sean's previous seat facing Camilla, "now let me tell you about myself..".
*******
"Scarlett!" Sean called out and she stopped. Scarlett took a deep breath before turning to look at Sean.
"Can we talk? Please", he begged and she looked away. "Just five minutes. Lunch will soon be over so let's talk please" he pleaded.
They entered an empty classroom and Sean made sure no one was around to hear what he has to say.
"I'm really sorry for not telling you earlier. My dad said it is family secret and I didn't want to hurt you and disappoint my father at the same time." Sean said.
"Aren't you disappointing him now?" Scarlett asked.
"Yes, but I can't bear the fact that i'm hiding something from you, that's why I told you and Camilla." He responded.
"How can I date someone whose entire family are witch hunters?", Scarlett asked and Sean's shoulders sagged. He knew the possible outcome of their discussion but he didn't want to give up.
"Well, you are a mage not a witch.", Sean said trying to butter the situation.
"Does your dad know the difference?", She asked and he shook his head. She was about to say something but Sean cut her off.
"We can be like Romeo and Juliet and nobody has to know you are a mage." Sean insisted making Scarlett laugh.
"You know they died in the end, right?", She asked and Sean's eyes widened in shock.
"I should've finished reading the play.", He muttered, "we'll be different. We will both make this work without anyone finding out. Even my nosy cousins won't have a clue.", Sean said holding her hands. He looked at her reassuringly and she sighed. "I promise to protect you from any person, whether it's my dad or my cousins" he said.
"Are you sure?", Scarlett asked even though she knew deep down that she was ready to continue her relationship.
"Cross my heart", Sean said and Scarlett smiled. His head was slowly diving towards hers when the shrill sound of the bell echoed. "Damnit!" He swore under his breath and Scarlett dragged him out of the class.
"Let's head to class, lover boy.", she said. Although her life was still at stake and Sean's family would obviously hate her, she was certainly not going to break up with Sean anytime soon.
******
"So your super rich grandma took you and V to live with her when you were twelve because of you dad's line of work", Camilla said just to be sure and Micheal nodded affirmatively. Their father was the town's sheriff so it's understandable. "Then why did she let you come back here? Did she..?", Camilla asked wondering if their grandma was dead. That'd probably be the reason they could come back.
"Nope, she isn't dying anytime soon.", Micheal joked. His sister was already giving him a pointed look. V knew where this conversation was heading and she didn't want her stupid brother to say anything because of his newly found crush.
"Then why..?", The bell rang signalling the end of lunch. Micheal sighed in relief because he wasn't ready to think of a lie to tell his angel. Camilla stood up to throw her empty plastic tray away and Micheal did the same.
"Angel, what class do you have?", He asked Camilla and she glared at him because of the nickname.
"Maths", she replied, "what about you?", She asked and he dug out his crumpled schedule from his pocket.
"History", he said sadly. Camilla walked towards her locker and took out her textbook.
"Sean has history. So you are not alone.", She said but Micheal was still sad that he only had two classes with his angel so far. "Where is your school jacket?", She asked. Each and every student at Whitewood academy were wearing a grey suit jacket with the school logo on it except from Micheal and his sister.
"The lady in the office said V and I should come for it next week.", He replied following her to her class. Camilla nodded in understanding before realizing something.
"What are you doing?", She asked watching as he also stopped in front of the door of maths class.
"Walking you to class", he responded casually.
"You'd be late to your own class", she said looking at him in shock. How can he be so calm about being late to class? She thought.
"Bye angel", he said jogging to history class before Camilla could scold him about the nickname. She opened the door and walked to her usual seat on the second row by the window. She didn't want to admit it but it was nice having Micheal around.
