Chapter Ten
Jordan has never been happier going to school. He looked at the mirror with a big smile on his face. After last night, he has had a light feeling all over his body as if he was floating. He really liked Camilla. He didn't know when it all started but he was sure of what he felt. From the time she hated his guts to the party, everything about her drew him closer to her.
He picked his backpack from the chair in his room and left. He was about to leave the front door when he heard his father's voice.
"Jordan!" His father called out. Jordan's stomach churned immediately. He hasn't had a good relationship with his father ever since his mother died. His father has been distant and Jordan didn't like communicating with him anymore. The fact that his father killed newly turned wolves, just because of the so-called witch hunters finding out about the entire pack, made Jordan angrier.
"Dad, I'll be late for school" Jordan said not even sparing his father a glance.
"You know what Friday is right?" His father asked, before Jordan could respond the man cut him off, "The trifecta moon doesn't happen every day so don't go to any of those stupid parties. You are not getting any younger." His father said sitting on the sofa with paperwork in his hands. Jordan almost choked on air when he heard what his father said. He totally forgot about the ritual on Friday.
"Dad, I can't perform the ritual on Friday" Jordan said slowly. His father's head shot up from the paperwork in a flash. "There is a girl I really like and.." Jordan started.
"Don't you dare do anything stupid. Your grandfather did the ritual and you won't be different." His father warned glaring at him. "If I have to 'take care' of whoever it is that is distracting you, I will. Don't make me take matters into my own hands because you know how it will end up." He warned. Jordan balled his fists in anger before storming out of the house. He was already late for school and worst of all, he had literature that morning.
*******
"Thank your stars you came right on time. If we didn't submit the assignment today then we would've failed" Camilla said putting her books inside her locker. She almost had a panic attack when Jordan didn't come to class. It was finally the day for the submission of the assignment and Camilla was glad it was over.
"I'm sorry, ok?" Jordan begged for the hundredth time but Camilla ignored him. "Why did you do the assignment alone? I wrote my part." Jordan asked. Back in class, Camilla submitted the analysis she wrote and the only thing that saved Jordan was that he had already read the book so it was easy for him to answer the questions.
Camilla walked to her next class without sparing Jordan a glance. She was at that point where she didn't know why she was annoyed but she was too deep to change her character.
"You weren't ignoring me last night!" Jordan yelled after her making her freeze. All the students in the hallway stared at her in surprise and Jordan was smiling triumphantly. Camilla glared at him before running to her next class.
Once she sat down in English class, she tried to calm her fast heartbeat. She recalled what happened the previous night and she couldn't fight the smile that crept on her face. The door of the class slammed shut and Camilla saw Scarlett walk into the class.
Scarlett was looking paler than usual. Her hair was roughly packed and her face looked worn out. Camilla raised her hand to call Scarlett over but Scarlett walked past her and went to the back of the class. Camilla was utterly confused. She didn't know why Scarlett was ignoring her, or maybe she just didn't see her. She watched Scarlett take a seat at the very back of the class and tried to walk up to her.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you" Camilla heard someone say before she realized that V was sitting behind her the whole time.
"What are you talking about?" Camilla asked but before she could get a response the teacher walked into the class so she had to sit back down.
********
"Hey V, what were you talking about earlier?" Camilla asked as soon as history class ended. V packed her books inside her bag before looking at Camilla.
"Yesterday, I was at Sean's place and I asked him something. He responded and Scarlett obviously heard his answer 'cause Sean left the room when he heard noise outside. Before I could come out of the room, both of them were gone." V explained before swinging her bag on her shoulder and leaving the class.
"What did you ask him that made Scarlett angry?" Camilla asked running after V. V groaned before turning immediately, making Camilla stop abruptly.
"Turns out my baby cousin liked you and not Scarlett at first but he somehow likes Scarlett now. It's confusing, I know" V said quickly before walking towards the stairs. Camilla processed the information she just got slowly. Sean likes.. liked me? How is that even possible? She thought, so that's why Scarlett was moody, I need to set things straight.
"Hey angel!" Camilla jumped in surprise before realizing it was Micheal, "Are you free.." he started.
"Micheal, can we talk later? I have something urgent to do" Camilla said before running off to look for Sean.
Sean was looking extremely pissed. He hated that Scarlett was mad at him, even his best friend hasn't spoken a word to him since yesterday. He wanted to apologise to Scarlett but he knew that Scarlett won't even listen to him.
"Hey Sean!" He turned around and saw Camilla storming towards him.
"Cam -"
"I know you didn't mean what you told V. You need to apologise to Scarlett, have you seen her today? She looks like a broken record." Camilla said not letting Sean say anything. Sean looked down in disappointment. He hated himself for causing Scarlett pain. If he could turn back the hands of time, he knew he would change all that happened.
"She won't forgive me. She won't even listen to me. How can I ask her for forgiveness?" Sean asked sadly. He equally looked horrible. His hair was all over the place, his shirt was inside out and his eyes were bloodshot.
"You broke her trust. You have to earn it back, you know" Camilla said truthfully. " She had to come out of her shell and accept you once, this time it's your turn" Camilla said before giving him a sad smile. "Good luck Sean" she said before walking to her next class.
********
"Do you want to tell me something?" Jordan asked glancing at Camilla. She has been opening and closing her mouth ever since he drove out of the school.
"No, what makes you think that?" Camilla retorted. Jordan chuckled before shaking his head. Jordan parked in front of her house and waited for her to leave but she sat still on the seat. "Um -" she started, "do you want to go on a midnight stroll on Friday night?" She finally asked relieving herself of that burden. She has been battling within herself whether to ask him or not but she finally asked him.
"Isn't it dangerous to go on a walk at midnight?" Jordan asked.
"That's why I have you Jordy" Camilla said sweetly before cringing at her own voice.
"Why not tomorrow night?" Jordan asked looking at her and she bit her lower lip.
"We have this family dinner with my uncle's family. The dinner lasts till late at night, I can't leave the house then." Camilla explained. She looked at her house hoping her mum doesn't come out. "So.. are you coming?" She asked again nervously.
"I'll think about it" Jordan replied playfully making Camilla scoff in return, "You girls ask for time to think when asked on a date so why can't I?" Jordan asked.
"Jerk" Camilla said smiling before leaving the car.
"Don't I get a goodbye kiss?" Jordan asked and Camilla laughed.
"Call me when you're done thinking, girl" Camilla said before walking into her house. Jordan gave her sad smile. Friday night.. he knew he had to choose. It was either Camilla or the pack. None of which he wanted to loose nor leave.
