Chapter Six

Camilla double checked if she was with her phone, wallet and bag. She didn't want to embarrass herself in front of her enemy. Jordan and Camilla were going to meet at sunny cafe for the literature assignment and Camilla hated the thought of it.

She stepped out of the house and headed towards her bicycle. She got the bicycle a year ago and to tell you the truth, she hated it the first time she saw it but she was learning to manage it now.  She checked the brakes and the poor thing was looking weak. Oh well, what's the worst that could happen? She thought before riding out of her house.

On getting to the Cafe, Camilla spotted Jordan looking confident in a white tank top and black jeans. It was then that her bicycle decided to misbehave. The brake stopped working, she even tried to use her leg to stop the bike but to no avail. The bike was now heading towards Jordan and Camilla tried to swerve but she ended up crashing on the ground with her bike.

Jordan, who was on his phone the entire time, looked up when he heard a crash only to realize that the girl he was supposed to meet was on the ground.

"Are you okay?", He asked trying to help her stand up but she avoided his hand. Accepting the enemy's help is a sign of weakness, she assured herself but that was stupid at that point. She tried to stand up but she fell back down. Jordan ignored her petty attitude and squatted beside her. He noticed her right ankle was dislocated and from the looks of it, it was going to bruise.

"I'm fine", Camilla said immediately trying to stand up again. Jordan carried her up bridal style making Camilla yelp in surprise. "Don't you dare drop me!" Camilla warned and Jordan's chest vibrated with laughter. He took her bag from the floor and adjusted her in his arms.

"Do you think I would drop you?" He asked raising her higher and in the process making her more comfortable. She didn't want to admit it but she knew he wouldn't drop her. Notwithstanding her weight, his arms were more than enough to support her.

"Who knows?" Camilla replied quietly. Jordan opened the car door and carefully placed Camilla on the seat. He closed the door and jogged to his side of the  car.

"Try not to put weight on your right leg, alright?" The nurse said and Camilla nodded looking at her ankle that was now wrapped with bandage. Jordan, surprisingly, was still there by her side and he even covered the expenses. This is all pretense, right? Camilla thought. She was trying to convince herself that the boy she spent her whole middle and high school hating was not kind.

"My hand!" A woman screeched gaining the attention of everyone in the ER. Camilla turned and saw a woman being carried to one of the beds. She was groaning in pain and Camilla could not help but wonder what happened to the woman. "A wild dog bit my hand!" The woman said trying to explain what happened to the nurse.

"I need to go. My dad needs help with something." Jordan suddenly said leaving the ER. Camilla looked at him in surprise as he left the hospital. What's up with him? She thought. She didn't pay any attention to him as a female doctor came towards the woman that was wailing in pain.

"Take her upstairs" the doctor said and the woman was wheeled  out of the ER. Camilla looked at them in suspicion. If it was just a dog bite, there was no need to take her out of the ER, she thought before leaping out of the ER.
*******
Camilla wandered around trying to find the woman and the doctor. She was about to give up when she heard a familiar voice.

" What happened to her?" The person asked. Is that the sheriff? Camilla wondered leaping closer to the door. The place she was in was secluded, not even a janitor was in sight. Camilla pressed her ear closer to the door so that she could hear what they were saying.

"This isn't an ordinary dog bite, sir. I had to call you immediately I saw her hand." The doctor said. Camilla pressed closer to the door. She was itching to know what the doctor was going to say. "It's a...", Camilla became confused when the doctor didn't complete what she was saying.

The door opened and Camilla fell into the room. She landed on the floor with a loud thud. She looked around the room and saw the doctor and sheriff looking at her questioningly.

"What were you doing outside the door?" The doctor asked and Camilla stood up nervously.

"Oh, this isn't the bathroom?" She asked laughing nervously, "I'll just go, have a nice day" she said. She was about to leave when she saw the mark on the injured woman's hand. The woman was lying unconscious on a bed in that office.

"But..." The doctor tried to speak but the sheriff cut her off.

"You should go now" the sheriff said and Camilla left the room closing the door behind her. She was about to leave when she heard the sheriff say, "it's not like she understands what we are talking about". Camilla had an idea of what they were talking about, she has seen the mark somewhere.

Camilla rushed upstairs without even answering her mum's question about her leg. She picked the book she took from uncle Russell's house and started looking for a page.

"Twenty-six, twenty-six.." she muttered before finding what she was looking for. Turns out she was right, it was a werewolf's  bite. Her hands shook as she dropped the book. If what uncle Russell wrote about werewolves is true then possibly every other thing he wrote about is true, she thought. Her phone vibrated in her hand and she opened the message.

"Hey angel, party on Friday. You coming?"
