the first time anyone noticed Nova was different was when she was nine. the young girl was running around mecha station with her best friend, Raven Reyes, and her half-brother, Jesse Gallagher. Nova had turned a corner and had ran right into a wall, bashing her head open, bleeding. Raven and Jesse immediately get help for her, but they were both confused by the black blood dripping from Nova's forhead.

Ever since then, Nova was seen different by those on the Ark's council. Nobody knew except for the council, Raven, her parents, Jesse and the doctors. When Nova was locked up for treason at 15, which she was framed for, others found out about her blood but not a lot of the delinquents in the skybox.

Two years after her lockup, at the age of 17 - now almost 18 - Nova and 99 other delinquents were sent down to Earth. They say to see if it's survivable, but Nova knew it was just to by themselves time.

Nova knew her blood was rare, extremely since she's the only one on the Ark that had it. But she never expected it to be a special thing there for the Grounders, people no one even knew were there.

When Nova landed on the ground with the other 99 delinquents, they soon realize they have to fight for their survival against the grounders and also all of the other dangers Earth has.
