Chapter 15
"For you, I can be a bad, bad girl."
Their argument was interrupted by Keyon who put his hand over Amelia's shoulder, grinning at them.
"You guys coming?" he asked. "We're about to play Truth or Dare at Amelia's table."
For you, I'll be a bad, bad girl.
A further couple of weeks passed peacefully. There was still a complete lull on the battlefield so, besides her weekly meetings with Janus, Amelia didn't have much work left to do when it comes to her warrior obligations. On the other hand, she learned how to perfectly balance her friendship with Camila and relationship with Xenia without the vampire woman harming Camila because of it.
The recipe was to never arrange hanging out with them on the same day. This way, she had more time for each woman no one could get angry with her.
Amelia didn't forget their small moment when she and Camila visited her special place but she somehow managed to repress her feelings.
Her relationship with Xenia started to look more like a real one, with dates, hands holding and of course, a lot of sex. She spent more and more time at Amelia's house.
Everybody noticed the evident change in between the two of them. But Amelia was still very stubborn about Xenia. She didn't make it official and she still claimed the two of them weren't in a real relationship.
But she had to admit that Xenia had often found her way into her thoughts.
Even now, when she stood in front of the mirror, with Camila sitting behind her, waiting for her so they could go to Keyon's party. It was one of Amelia's fellow warriors and he was generous enough to invite not only Amelia and Damien but also Camila and Kaley.
"Are you ready?" Camila asked in an annoyed voice. "We're gonna be late?"
Amelia chuckled.
"Patience is a virtue," she replied shortly and heard the other woman scoff.
"I guess I don't possess that particular virtue then. Hurry up."
Amelia ran her fingers to straighten her already straight dark hair. Then she faced her clearly annoyed friend. She didn't miss on how good Camila looked tonight. She chose to wear black ripped skinny jeans and white top which covered only her chest area, leaving her stomach and back completely exposed to everyone's eyes. Her hair was falling on her shoulders in natural waves and she decided to put only light make-up. Not that she needed any. Amelia thought she was beautiful just as she was.
"Why are you in such a hurry?" she asked her to distract herself a bit. "Damien and Kaley are not even here yet. We have time."
Camila only huffed.
"Because I want to start drinking as soon as possible," she replied and looked at her wristwatch.
Amelia smirked.
"Do you now?" she asked teasingly. "Does that include finding a nice female company for tonight?"
The singer lifted her head and looked at the warrior warningly.
"Don't even try to go there," she warned her. "I don't need a matchmaker. I'm perfectly capable of finding a company myself."
As she laughed out loud, Amelia once again checked herself in the mirror. This time, she decided to go a little out of her comfort zone and put a more provocative outfit. She wore light blue short jeans and lack slim sleeveless turtleneck shirt. She had to admit she looked extremely good at this outfit. The make-up she had on her face changed her appearance a little but didn't have much influence on it.
Amelia caught Camila staring at her from behind and smirked. She didn't move and didn't look away from the mirror but her eyes were now focused on Camila's face.
"Take a picture. It'll last longer," she said, snapping the other woman out of the staring game. She looked down in shame and Amelia simply had to laugh.
"No need to be ashamed," she tried to reassure her while Camila gave her one more warning look. "If I were you, I'd stare at me too."
That made her groan in displeasure. She was probably uncomfortable and she started to walk in circles.
"I almost forgot how full of yourself you are," she said.
Amelia just shrugged.
"Yeah, in every other circumstance, I'd probably deny it but since we're the only ones in here, I'll agree with you," she replied.
Camila shook her head and then, the bell ringed and announced Kaley and Damien.
"Finally," she uttered with her hands raised and went to open the door since Amelia was still occupied with staring at herself through the mirror.
"Damn," she said with a smirk. "I wonder what would Xenia think?"
A sound of a few familiar voices came from the door and soon, her living room was occupied not with just two more people but three. Amelia immediately spotted a well-known person who stood next to Kaley and apparently, a very annoyed Damien.
She turned around and faced them.
"Xenia?"
The said woman only smiled, approaching her in search for a kiss. Amelia decided to please her and pulled her in her body, giving her a small, soft kiss on the lips.
"I thought we'll meet at the party," she said afterward.
"Well, I saw Kaley and Damien coming here and I decided to join them since I knew you were still at home with Camila," she replied in a calm voice. "I hope you don't mind."
Amelia glanced towards every other person in this room. As usual, Damien was annoyed, Camila stood in a dark corner with her arms crossed over her chest and she wasn't looking at her while Kaley seemed to be observing Camila.
"Of course not," Amelia said because Xenia was still waiting for her answer. "We can go altogether."
She smiled in satisfaction and gave Amelia one more kiss, before observing her.
"Holy shit, I don't remember when was the last time I saw you in clothes like that."
That made the warrior smirk.
"I assume you like it then," she replied.
Xenia leaned in to reach her ear.
"I'll show you later how much," she whispered but the others seemed to hear her because Camila instantly let out a vomiting sound while Damien groaned.
"Let's go before I throw up," he said, already pulling Kaley towards the door. Camila grabbed her coat and followed them, while Amelia and Xenia were still standing behind.
"You two, behave!" she yelled after Damien and Camila. Then, she smiled at Xenia again.
"I'm looking forward to it."
After they finally caught up with the remained trio, all five of them started to walk towards Keyon's house. It wasn't too far away and they could already hear the loud music.
"Looks like this party is already on the roll," Xenia said.
Amelia heard a familiar beat and her eyes immediately went towards Camila who looked like she was blushing.
"Is this your song?" she asked her.
Smaller woman's head snapped in her direction.
"No," she denied but it didn't sound so convincing.
Amelia laughed and pulled Xenia a little closer, wrapping her arm around her shoulders.
"Oh, my God, it is your song," Kaley exclaimed enthusiastically. "This is freakin' Let's Dance Again. Camila raised the entire audience on their feet singing this song at the VMAs last year. Don't you remember? You made such a mess."
Amelia looked at her with even more interest now. She looked extremely embarrassed.
"Shut up, Kaley," she ordered to her cousin. "I can't believe they're playing it here. I have to have a serious talk with Keyon when we arrive."
"Oh, relax," Xenia said, surprising everybody just because she decided to talk to Camila. They were all aware of a certain hatred between two women. Amelia was the only reason why they didn't kill each other yet. "It's a party so of course, every popular song is going to be played. I guess this is just a confirmation of you truly being a popular one between all the Hollywood singers."
Camila rolled her eyes.
"Jesus, Xenia, I can feel the love all the way over here," she replied somewhat bitterly.
The other vampire woman huffed.
"I think I gave you enough recognition."
They were already in front of Keyon's door and Damien stood in front of them.
"Stop bickering," he ordered. "Let's go party, drink and have fun, yeah?"
Camila gave him a high five.
"Maybe find some cute blonde to dance with," she said, making everyone else besides Xenia gasp in surprise. Camila they know would never say something like that.
"Girl, now you're talking," Kaley exclaimed, catching her under her arm and the two of them entered Keyon's house, Damien following close to them.
Amelia just observed them in amusement.
"You're not coming in?" Xenia asked her, gaining her attention again.
"Of course, let's go," she replied, leading her through the door. As soon as they entered the house, the met with Keyon's smiling face.
"Amelia, finally. I was waiting for our leader to come," he said cheerfully.
She greeted him properly and then, Keyon led them through his enormous house, towards the backrooms. She already knew what was waiting for them in there but Camila and Kaley had no idea just how big his house really was.
Up to this moment, there was another song playing through the speakers on the walls. It was some latin song and Amelia saw Kaley and Camila already swaying their hips in the rhythm of the song.
They turned around the corner and suddenly, both human women froze in complete astonishment.
"Holy shit!" Kaley exclaimed. Amelia and Damien just exchanged glances and smirked.
"Ladies and one gentleman," Keyon said with his arms spread. "Welcome to Keyon's oasis."
Amelia felt when Camila pulled her hand.
"You don't have this in your house," she said in shock.
They were actually standing at the very entrance of one big room which was the perfect replica of a tropic oasis. The floor was sand-colored with a big pool at the center of the room. Fake rocks were enclosing the right side of the pool with a real waterfall falling out of them. Right across them was a DJ's table with a tall dark-skinned man behind him. There were a few people dancing right in front of him, a few were doing the same on the real dance floor in the right corner. A few feet away from them were booths with tables and another one-third of people sitting there, drinking and having a chat. The remaining others were inside of the pool having fun or trying to dance to the rhythm.
And when they looked up they could see the bright starry sky because the whole room was like a glass cupola. There were glass walls and ceiling all around them. And it was actually warm. Definitely warm enough to enter the pool.
"Yes, I don't have a house like that because I didn't choose it," Amelia explained to Camila. "But all the other warriors have privileges like that."
Camila still had her eyes wide open.
"Holy hell, that's amazing," it was the only thing she could remember to say.
Kaley pulled her arm.
"Let's go dance!" she yelled and Amelia had to laugh.
"My ladies, enjoy your evening," Keyon said with a smile and apparently, that was enough for them to run ahead, towards the dance floor, giggling.
"Women," he said to Amelia before somebody called his name and he left to where he was needed.
Xenia waved to a few of her friends which included Gemma, one of Damien's ex-lovers.
"Babe, I'll go say hi," she said when she faced Amelia again. "I'll find you later, okay?"
She nodded her head, nudging her softly towards her friends. When Xenia left, there was just her and Damien. Her eyes scanned the area and soon, she saw Storm, Alexus, and Osien standing close to one of the tables, along with a few other warriors she was close to.
"C'mon," Damien said and pulled her by the hand. "They're waiting for us."
"Hey," Storm said when they approached. Both of them stood among them and Osien offered them glasses of some strong liquor. Amelia could smell it from the entrance. She observed the colorless drink with a few slices of lime in it.
"What the fuck is this?" she asked.
He smirked.
"It's gin. Try it. It'll shake your whole world upside down, I promise."
"She already has Xenia for that," Neveah said from the other side of the table and made Amelia chuckle in amusement. Then, she gulped the whole thing at once.
"Holy shit," she cursed with a grimace.
Damien laughed out loud while Osien shoved her another full glass. Amelia didn't deny it and they slowly fell into a conversation about anything and everything. While talking with her friends, she slowly scanned people around her. There weren't many humans but some of them from Keyon's list were present and apparently, were having a lot of fun flirting with anyone who crossed their way.
Amelia noticed Frank and his usual crew a few tables away from them. Her features immediately hardened at the very sight of her so annoying warrior companion. His friends weren't so different. They were the vampire warriors Amelia didn't like very much. The same kind as Frank.
"Wow, they really do have a lot of fun," Alexus suddenly said, gaining her attention.
Amelia followed her gaze towards the dance floor. Camila and Kaley were dancing and laughing along with a few other vampire women. They all had a glass of something which also seemed to be gin in their hand. One woman, in particular, stayed close to Camila and didn't hesitate to grab her hips and move against them. The singer didn't seem to mind.
Amelia smirked. She didn't give it a second thought. She just wanted Camila to have fun and finally relax for a bit tonight.
"That's why I brought them," she replied and faced Alexus again. Her friend's eyes were staring deep into her own as if she tried to find something inside of them.
"What?" Amelia asked, taken aback for a little.
Alexus stayed quiet. She just continued to stare at her.
"Nothing, don't worry about it," she finally replied after a few more seconds. Then, she took another two drinks, offering one to Amelia. "Cheers!"
The other woman accepted the game. They both gulped everything down.
"Holy shit, we're gonna get so wasted," she said. All the others laughed while Damien rose his own glass in the air.
"Cheers to that!" he yelled.
Amelia's glance once again flew towards Frank's table. It wasn't for nothing. She caught him staring intensely towards Camila and Kaley. Both of his cheeks were flushed. It looked like he already had too much alcohol in his system.
This couldn't happen tonight.
As if he heard her, his eyes found hers and one warning look was enough for him to look at the floor.
"Good," Amelia thought to herself.
Then, Frank smiled again and returned to whatever conversation his friends were having. He didn't give another look to Amelia and she smirked, taking a sip of her drink in satisfaction. She wanted him to know where his place really was. As much away from Camila as possible.
A few minutes later, two human women finally joined her and others on their table, all sweaty from dancing and tipsy from alcohol they had.
Osien held his hand high, searching for a high five from Camila.
"You totally had Aruba all over you there. Good job," he teased.
Camila instantly blushed and grabbed someone's drink in front of herself, drinking everything in one gulp. Amelia looked at her in amusement but she didn't expect brown eyes to look back. It was a short eye-contact. Short but there was something inside of Camila's eyes. She couldn't define it.
"I guess she's okay," Camila said with a slight shrug.
The song which was currently playing ended and the next one came blaring through the speakers. Amelia immediately recognized the so familiar beat. She definitely heard it before when she explored the certain singer out of curiosity.
It was another one of Camila's songs. To be specific, it was Bad Girl.
Their eyes found each other again but this time, Camila didn't look even slightly bothered by her own voice flying all over the room. Moreover, her eyes became darker than before and she took one bold move towards the warrior, leaning in her body to the point of reaching her ear.
"Come dance with me," Amelia heard her whisper.
At that moment, every muscle in her body tensed as she gulped. Hard.
"What?" she asked just to make sure she heard her right. This time, she couldn't pretend like nothing was happening.
Camila didn't seem to have any intention to move away. She just came closer into Amelia's personal space.
"I don't think I have to repeat myself," she replied boldly and Amelia decided she kind of liked this new Camila. Confident Camila. "C'mon. I want you to dance with me."
She didn't wait for Amelia's response and just went towards the dance floor again, dragging the vampire along with her. Amelia followed her in some sort of trans. Unable to say no.
As they drifted away from the table, none of them could notice Damien's concerned eyes which were following them. He didn't like this and Kaley was already too tipsy to notice anything. She wasn't able to look after Camila tonight.
As he thought about all the possible outcomes of Camila basically rubbing her hips against Amelia, he felt a hand on his shoulder and faced Alexus. Her eyes were more amused than concerned but he instantly understood he wasn't the only one who noticed the obvious tension between the dancing duo.
"You noticed it too?" Alexus simply asked him.
"What?" he feigned obliviousness.
She rolled her eyes.
"Don't play dumb with me," she replied. "Tell me you didn't notice how much Camila actually likes her and I swear, I'll never ask you this question again."
He was silent for a few moments before he finally sighed in defeat, rubbing his forehead.
"This can't end up well," he said and finally admitted the obvious. "Xenia is still involved in Amelia's life. I don't want Camila to get hurt."
Alexus took a sip of her drink, her eyes falling on the half-asleep Kaley who leaned against the table. The vampires were much more tolerable to alcohol than humans.
"The whole complex is already buzzing about how close they became. They figured it out and it's just a matter of time before someone would slip something out," she said to Damien.
He shook his head in disbelief.
"Amelia is really protective of her," he reasoned. "Like she feels responsible for everything that might happen to her and I think she really likes her as a friend. I'm just afraid of Camila misreading some of her actions or body language."
Alexus nodded.
"Yes, Amelia would never cross that line with a human being."
In the meantime, Amelia had the hardest time of her life on the dance floor. She didn't want to feel all those feelings she was currently feeling with Camila's body pinned to her own. She was swaying her hips in the most provocative way which made it only worse for Amelia. She could feel her scent and the first thing she noticed was that Camila definitely didn't smell like smoke or some cheap perfume. For a brief moment, Amelia thought she wouldn't be able to resist and that she would simply lean her head in the crock of Camila's neck to feel more of that sweet vanilla scent. Her skin and her entire presence did some things to her. Things Amelia didn't want to even think about.
Then, Camila turned around, threw her arms around Amelia's neck and swayed them from one side to another, as the rhythm of the song slowed down.
"For you, I can be a bad, bad girl," she finished the last lines of her song, whispering them in Amelia's ear and making her groan to herself.
"Oookay, I think you had a drink or two too much," she said with a light but nervous chuckle after she finally distanced herself from the other woman and breathed in relief.
Camila giggled. She couldn't stand straight so Amelia had to hold her hips to keep her steady.
"I'm just having fun as you wanted me to," she slurred.
Just as the warrior wanted to respond, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Xenia stood between the two of them, shooting daggers at Camila.
Amelia was so absorbed in dancing with Camila that she completely forgot about Xenia even being in the same room as them.
"Do you mind?" she asked Camila arrogantly and literally shove her away from the other vampire. "I'd like to take back what's mine."
The smaller woman was too drunk to maintain her own balance and she nearly fell down but Amelia caught her around her waist in the last second.
"Easy," she warned Xenia while she held now obviously upset and angry Camila close to steady her. "Can't you see how intoxicated she is? I'll just take her to our table and then I'll find you, okay?"
The other woman crossed her arms over her chest as she pouted.
"You didn't sign to be her babysitter," she argued but frankly, Amelia wasn't up to having a fight right in the middle of the dance floor in someone else's house. She glared at her.
"Can you not be difficult right now?" she asked annoyed with her childish behavior. "She came here with me and if you don't remember, I'm her guardian. It's my job and my priority to look after her."
Their argument was interrupted by Keyon who put his hand over Amelia's shoulder, grinning at them.
"You guys coming?" he asked. "We're about to play Truth or Dare at Amelia's table."
The warrior just looked at Xenia expectantly.
"So?" she asked her. "Are you coming with me or you're going to return to your friends?"
For a few moments, Xenia didn't move. She just observed Amelia, clearly upset and annoyed by the entire situation. Then, she huffed and turned around. She went away without much a word.
Amelia groaned out loud before she turned towards her table again, leading pretty much quiet Camila along with her.
"Keyon, do you mind bringing some water for her?" she asked her friend softly. He shook her head and immediately went to look after something that wasn't alcohol while Camila groaned.
"I don't want water," she protested loudly. "Where's gin?"
"Don't even think about it," Amelia warned her. Her patience was short. "We need to sober you up because I'm not in a mood to deal with emotions, vomiting or whatever habit you have when you're drunk."
The singer didn't say anything else. They returned to the table and Amelia exchanged one glance with a still concerned Damien but she didn't say anything else.
She could just think about everything that just happened. And the only thought going through her mind was "God, help me.".
