Chapter 12

"Go find her and talk to her. You understand how she feels."

"What can I get you?" the waiter asked Amelia and Damien who just arrived to their favorite and for that matter, the only club they had here inside of the blue coven's complex. "The Club", how they called it was a very popular gathering place for blue vampires who were looking for some kind of entertainment. Every night the club was full, there were a lot of drinks and good music.

Amelia leaned her arms over the bar.

"I'll have a bear," she said. "Damien?"

Her cousin faced the man behind the bar.

"The same," he replied.

He nodded his head and immediately brought them drinks they ordered.

"By the way, congrats to winning the tournament...again," he said to Amelia with a wide smile on his face.

Damien groaned in displeasure.

"Thanks, man," she replied, slapping Damien's shoulder jokingly. "Haven't you said we have to celebrate my victory?"

"Yeah, but you don't have to be such a jerk over it," he immediately replied.

Amelia's eyes widened.

"But I haven't said a word about it yet," she nearly yelled. "He was the one who congratulated me and brought up that topic."

He waved his hand. Just as Amelia wanted to say something, she noticed Damien looking at something behind her. His jaw almost hit the floor. Curious about what he saw, she also followed his gaze.

There were standing Camila and Kaley. Both women were dressed in small, tight, black dresses with high heels. Kaley's hair was in a perfect bun while Camila decided to let it fall in natural waves. The makeup they had on gave them a more mature and serious look. Amelia's expression was nearly the same as Damien's. This was actually the first time she realized who Camila Reyes was. No matter of circumstances they found themselves into, she was still a celebrity. A very popular one. Looking hot was basically her job.

"Holy hell," she heard Damien mutter under his breath before he went toward them.

She was a little lost and unsure how to act but then she reminded herself of who Camila and Kaley were inside of this complex. Celebrity status didn't mean much when they passed the border between blue coven's residence and the real world.

"What do you two want to drink?" Damien asked them when they approached the bar.

Both of them nodded their heads in greeting.

"What are you drinking?" Kaley asked.

As usual, Camila wasn't too talkative.

"A beer," Damien replied. "But you have plenty of choices. There's no difference between nightclubs in big towns and this one."

That made Kaley smirk and Amelia instantly knew they were in trouble.

"In that case, we want shoots," she uttered. "A lot of them."

Camila rolled her eyes while Damien didn't complain and just waved the waiter.

"Shoots!" he yelled.

It was enough for the waiter to understand what he had to bring them. Then, they gathered around and continued to hang out, talking about everything and anything. The music still wasn't too loud and they could talk normally. Well, Kaley and Damien did most of the talking. Camila was mostly quiet, laughing here and there to nonsense Damien said.

On the other hand, Amelia was more focused on observing people all over the place. For several times, her eyes met Xenia's and considering the cold stare she was constantly giving her, it was evident that the other woman was more than mad. Amelia knew that she somewhat had a right to be mad. After they slept together for so many times, she left her and chose another woman to be her lucky charm person.

When Damien and Kaley left to the dance floor, she snapped from her state of thinking and her eyes finally fell on Camila who just gave her a timid smile. Amelia could now observe her well and she couldn't deny that Camila indeed was a very beautiful woman.

"So," she started, hoping that a conversation would stop her from thinking about Camila's looks. "Did you like the tournament?"

The singer nodded, taking a sip of water she ordered earlier, after a few shots.

"Yeah, it was nice to be a part of something which means so much to your people," she replied. "Although, I expected something more...hard than basketball."

Amelia's eyebrows furrowed.

"Hard?"

"Yes, like fighting or something like that," Camila explained further.

The vampire played with the bottle in her hands.

"No, we have enough real fights on the battlefield," she replied. "We wanted to have something less dangerous."

Camila smiled and took one more shoot.

"Look who do we have here," a voice behind them slurred drunkenly.

Amelia immediately recognized the voice and closed her eyes. Not tonight. She didn't want to deal with him tonight.

Both, her and Camila faced the direction of the voice and saw a very drunk Frank who was staring at them.

"Camila Reyes?" he slurred again. "Not a bad choice, Amelia. Not at all."

The leader firmly squeezed her fists, praying to Heavens to move Frank away from them before someone would get hurt.

"So, now when the whole world knows just how big of a dyke you are, you have no reason to hide anymore," he said to Camila whose jaw almost hit the floor in total shock and disbelief of the words that left his mouth.

Amelia's eyes were traveling between the two of them, not sure how to react to this.

Frank just gave Camila an evil smirk before he spoke again, spilling the venom all over the place.

"Did you hear, people?" he yelled, gaining everyone's attention. Damien and Kaley immediately got closer but didn't fully approach them.

"Little "Miss Perfect" here is actually inside of the closet. America's sweetheart actually likes girls," he continued to talk.

Amelia gave a confused look to Damien who shrugged, too lost to say anything while Kaley was evidently upset and angry.

"I bet you're using her well, Amelia," Frank once again addressed her and that finally dragged some kind of reaction out of her.

"Watch your language, Frank," she hissed.

"What?" Frank got into Camila's face and Kaley immediately ran forward, standing next to the still so shocked woman. "Cat got your tongue? Or is it inside of someone's vagina?"

Kaley roughly pushed him away while Amelia was ready to jump in between them.

"Do not touch me!" Frank yelled.

She realized they were the center of attention of the whole club. Everyone's eyes were on them, curious to hear and see what was Frank going to do next.

"You know, I was in Helena for a couple of days and I have to say that humans have very good ways on entertainment," he said again. Amelia didn't understand him. "Especially when it comes to bad mouthing someone over the TV, for the whole world to see."

Amelia once again looked at Camila and now all the color left her face. She was completely pale.

"Do you remember Jack?" Frank asked her. "Your ex-boyfriend? Well, now when you're not present in the real world, he cleared up everything about your breakup. He explained everything about you not allowing him to touch you, to fuck you because you actually love vaginas."

"Shut the fuck up!" Kaley yelled while Camila wasn't able to say anything.

Amelia had enough and she stood between them.

"Go away, Frank," she hissed. "Leave her alone, before I lose my patience."

But he didn't seem bothered by her words. Moreover, he got into her face, looking at her angrily.

"What? I'm not afraid of you. You're just defending your sex toy," he said.

That was it. Amelia's eyes immediately became red and she flew forward, punching Frank on the face. The man fell down, groaning in pain.

Damien grabbed her under her arms but in this state, Amelia was stronger than him. She managed to snatch from his grip.

"Get up!" she yelled, grabbing Frank and getting him up from the ground. "Repeat it! Repeat what you just said and give me a reason to kill you and get rid of another garbage who's walking on this Earth."

He wasn't able to hold his head up. Apart from being drunk, she gave him a good punch. Amelia could only imagine how her face looked like. The crowd moved away a little, for a good measure.

"Too bad," Frank slurred. "She's too pretty to be a dyke. I would for sure show her what a good "equipment" can do and fix her."

Amelia pushed him roughly and he fell again.

"If you just look at her one more time, I swear to God, Frank, I'm going to make sure you never come back from Helena!" she shouted.

He didn't say anything else but groaning in pain. She of his friends approached carefully to not disturb Amelia more than she already was and picked him up.

She was breathing heavily and for a moment closed her eyes to calm herself down and, hopefully, return her normal eye-color before she faced the others again. When she turned around, Camila was nowhere to be seen. Kaley was looking towards the exit in concern while Damien held her in place, probably trying to stop her from going after Camila.

"Amelia?" he called her name. "Are you okay?"

She exhaled and nodded her head.

"You should go after her," he said.

She stopped dead in her tracks.

"I should really find her. I can't believe this happened," Kaley said but Damien shook his head.

"No," he uttered. "Listen to me. I'm not going to question what's the truth behind all of this but if Frank was right, she needs to talk to someone who would understand her."

Then, he faced Amelia again. She swallowed hard and prepared herself for his next words.

"Go find her and talk to her. You understand how she feels."

To be completely honest, she felt trapped. Damien was somewhat right. If this was the truth, if Camila really liked girls, then Amelia understood her feelings. But she wasn't ready to deal with her emotional side. She was not good at it.

For a few moments, she was observing people around, catching a glimpse of a furious Xenia before facing Damien again. He waited for her response.

There was no way out of this trap.

Amelia sighed and then, she finally moved from where she had been standing and started to pave her way through the crowd, towards the exit. When she was finally out, she immediately looked around in hopes to catch Camila but the other woman was nowhere to be seen.

"Fuck!" she cursed, thinking where she could've been. "She probably went straight to her house."

At least Amelia hoped she did. Otherwise, she could've ended up in a trouble walking alone over the complex during two p.m. She went towards the park in hopes Camila was still somewhere inside of it. She couldn't run away so fast. It was pretty dark but Amelia's senses helped her to see everything. In these situations, she was so grateful for being a vampire.

After a few minutes of looking around, she didn't manage to find her.

"C'mon," she said impatiently.

She went forward but then, a sound of sniffling stopped her and Amelia turned in the direction of the sound. There was a woman's silhouette sitting on one of the benches. She didn't move and her head was lowered, staring at the ground.

It was Camila.

For a few moments, Amelia just stood there, unable to move. She really hated when people got emotional in front of her.

Camila didn't seem to notice her.

The vampire then took a deep breath to prepare herself for what would come. She slowly approached her.

"Are you okay?"

Her voice probably startled Camila who jumped a little but stayed in sitting position. She quickly wiped her face.

"Umm, I," she paused with a shaky voice, not knowing what to say. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disappear like that, I just..."

Amelia felt sweat all over her hands and she tried to wipe them on her pants. Too bad they were leather. She coughed a little.

"Do you mind if I sit down?" she asked.

Camila raised her head for the first time since she found her. Amelia noticed her red and puffy eyes and silently cursed Frank for making her cry.

"Sure."

Amelia sat down and looked straight in front of her. Once again, she confirmed she wasn't ready to deal with emotional people.

"I'm sorry about Frank," she uttered. "He's an enormous jerk and I'll make sure he pays for what he said to you."

There was complete silence for a few moments before Camila spoke.

"I didn't want people to find out this way."

Amelia's head immediately snapped towards the singer.

"Jack and I were together for two years," Camila continued. "I trusted him, even after we broke up. I can't believe he betrayed my trust just like that. To make himself look good in media."

Amelia didn't know what to say.

"I should've been the one telling the truth to the world. Not like this but my way. The way I choose to come out."

After the monologue, the woman once again wiped her eyes, trying to get rid of the tears which were constantly falling down her cheeks. She wasn't sobbing but her voice was strained and shaky.

Amelia faced her with her whole body and just observed her. When Camila didn't raise up her head, she decided to spoke again.

"Both of my parents are red ones," she started which finally made Camila look at her. Amelia knew it was a well-known story who she really was but still, she hoped her story could be helpful for Camila to understand better that everyone had something to fight against.

"Victor is my father," she continued. "He wanted a child. Someone, to fight side by side against the enemies. When I was born and when he saw my eyes, he was so enraged that he immediately murdered my mother and wanted to murder me too. Janus is the only reason I'm alive. He and his warrior invaded red vampires' residence and literally smuggled me out."

Inside of Camila's eyes, Amelia saw sympathy.

"I'm sorry," she said quietly.

But Amelia wasn't done yet.

"Janus brought me here, started to teach me everything I know today and soon, I became his shadow. I went wherever he went. Damien and I became best friends but he was never interested enough to continue his father's job. I was more invested in all of that and my devotion to the blue coven and its warriors brought me to the leader's position," she explained further and noticed Camila listening to her with great interest. "What I'm trying to say is the fact how hard was to achieve all of this. At the very beginning, I had a lot of problems. While everyone else thought how great and capable I am, I was fighting myself inside of my soul. I was fighting against my red side."

This was where she stopped to look away from her. Camila didn't say anything. It was obvious she was waiting for her to continue.

Amelia was surprised by how willing she was to hear her story.

"I was a child who had an extremely hard time with accepting that my father attempted to murder me just because I didn't have red eyes," she said again. "I had a very bad temper. I would start a fight with just a little bit of provoking by anyone. It didn't matter who I was fighting. The only important thing was to show them they can't mess with me."

In that exact moment, the vampire felt warmth over her hand and she looked down. Camila's hand was on her own.

"I'm really sorry about your father," she said in a clearly calmer voice. "Your father had no right to do something like that."

She just nodded.

"Once again, Janus helped me and somewhat directed years of anger and bitterness in making a great warrior out of me," she continued with her story. "These training gatherings were brutal. They were way beyond what my physical condition could take. But now, I had a place where I could let all of my anger out. Step by step and I slowly learned how to appreciate the fact that I am alive and who I am. I'm a blue vampire and my primary duty was protecting my people and humans from those monsters."

Camila sighed and Amelia knew she realized why was she telling her all of this.

"It doesn't matter what everyone else thinks, Camila. As long as you know who you are and what you wanna be, no one else has a right to call you out for the things you can't change."

She still didn't let go of her hand but was now looking towards the dark part of the park.

"I wish it could be that easy for me," she finally said. "I'm a public figure and by this, he put everything I've worked for at risk. My career, my reputation and the chances of me losing a big amount of my fans just got bigger."

Amelia shook her head.

"No, he did you a favor," she argued. "He saved you months of preparing the best strategy or way to come out to the world. And regardless of how much effort you put in preparing yourself, there's still a pretty big chance that you would choose the wrong way."

Camila once again looked at her.

"Right now, you're not out there, Camila," she explained. "You're in here, you're protected from the world and the most important, you have enough time to think what you want to say once you return to your real life. I'm not saying your ex did the right thing but you can use everything he did and use it as your advantage. you can show the world how unfair he was and how nasty doing that so somebody is."

Camila was quiet. She was listening and taking everything Amelia just said it.

"I'm here for a pretty long time now," she continued. "What you give is what you get, trust me."

A small laugh escaping Camila's lips was worth of the effort Amelia put in finding her tonight. She wasn't what Amelia thought she was. She wasn't a bad person. Contrary to that, Camila was a sweet and innocent person. Maybe too innocent.

"I'll have so much work to do when I get back to L.A.," she said, her hand going through her long hair. "He literally revealed all of my dirty underwear to the whole world."

Now was Amelia's turn to squeeze Camila hand in support.

"He wanted to hurt you," she replied. "But he didn't say anything you should be embarrassed about."

"Maybe in your world," Camila said but Amelia didn't want her to believe that.

"We both live in the same world," she immediately fired back. "We share it and the rules are the same for everyone. Yes, he revealed that you like girls and that you two didn't sleep together but since when that was a sin? If I remember correctly, your God forbids you to have sex before marriage."

Camila laughed loudly and Amelia's lips immediately spread in a wide grin.

"You have a weird way of cheering me up," she said with a slight blush on her cheeks.

Amelia once again squeezed her hand. She was surprised by how normal it felt to have Camila's hand in her own. She didn't feel uncomfortable or trapped.

"I'm glad I could be helpful," she replied.

There was complete silence for a few moments. Each woman was in her own thoughts.

"Can I ask you something?" Camila finally asked.

Amelia nodded.

"How old are you?"

The vampire chuckled to the question before looking at her again. Camila finally let go of her hand and they were now just sitting next to each other.

"I'm 26," she replied shortly but Camila gave her a "yeah right" look. She clearly wasn't that stupid.

Amelia sighed.

"You can multiply it by ten," she replied and said the truth to which Camila's jaw nearly hit the ground.

"You're 260 years old?" she asked loudly.

Amelia laughed.

"Don't sound so surprised," she replied. "I thought humans knew everything about me. At least that's what I've heard when we were on the plane to Helena."

But Camila seemed unable to speak.

"Yo-you," she attempted to say something.

Amelia faced her again.

"You can look at it this way," she said. "Ten years in your world is one year in my world. We're aging very slowly. Right now, I'm 26 years old. I mean, I look like someone who's 26 years old."

For a moment, Camila looked like she would jump on her to look at her closely.

"I can't believe you're so old. You're 239 years older than me," she said in shock what once again made Amelia laugh.

"No, technically, I'm seven years older than you."

They continued to talk about Amelia's age for a while until the vampire didn't notice how calmer and relaxed Camila looked like.

"Thank you," she suddenly said. "For trying to calm me down."

Amelia gave her a soft smile.

"That's what guardians do," she replied. "You're welcome. I'll make sure Frank never approaches you ever again."

Camila was just looking at her with some strange determination. It was the first time this night that Amelia started to feel uncomfortable, not knowing what was the singer thinking about.

"Are you okay?" she asked her.

That seemed to wake her up and she quickly nodded.

"Can I ask you something?" she asked the same question again.

"You ask that question a lot," Amelia replied with a smile. "But sure, go ahead."

Camila was quiet for a few seconds. She looked like she was thinking about whatever she wanted to ask her.

"You have a lot of time spent here," she said first to which Amelia furrowed her eyebrows in confusion. "Have you ever feel in love?"

Amelia froze. She was sure she looked like somebody just slapped her and that's exactly how she felt. But Camila was looking at her expectantly.

"No," she replied firmly. "I don't think it's meant for me to fall in love."

The other woman licked her lips, nodding softly but didn't say anything else. Amelia realized it was time to go back. This conversation was heading towards her privacy and although she liked Camila she got a chance to meet here, she didn't want to share more than necessary.

"Are you ready to go back now?" she asked and got up.

Camila once again nodded.

"Let's go," she replied.

They started to walk back towards The Club in silence. They were both thinking about all of the answers and questions they gave to each other tonight.

Something had changed. Amelia was sure of it.

Author's note:

Hey, guys. So, we finally had a chance to see Amelia's softer side. Tonight, she wasn't a big bad warrior but she stood behind someone she had to protect and did exactly that. The question that was left after this chapter is will Camila manage to melt her ice cold heart?

If you liked this chapter, please don't forget to vote or comment. It means a lot to me.
