Chapter 26: Traitor

Redstar hissed as she clawed at the pelt of a MoonClan warrior. Her Clan was fighting, again. It had been six moons, and they were strong. Well, that's what Redstar always said. During the leafbare moons, there was what was said to be the worst greencough bout in the history of the Clans. Willowstar and Mouseclaw of MoonClan had died, as well as Bloodstar and Coldstripe. More cats died in the other Clans, but Redstar didn't care. The death she hated the most, though, was the death of her silly brother Splashwhisker.

Redstar had made Rosescar, Astersong, Smokespirit, and Flybounce warriors. Rosescar worried Redstar, though. She thought too much. When cats think, they get ideas. The ginger she-cat clawed at the new MoonClan leader, Brightstar.

"Get out of our territory, DeathClan! Or you'll regret it!" Brightstar yowled. Redstar could see Lotuswhisker pinning down Shiningbreeze. Redstar rolled from beneath Brightstar's claws, and leaped onto his back.

"How would we regret it? MoonClan will fall!" Redstar retorted.

"Brightstar!" Redstar whipped her head around and saw the new DarkClan leader, Finchstar. The orange tabby she-cat leaped up and barreled into Redstar. She was outnumbered. Redstar had eight lives, these leaders had nine.

"Well this is unfair." Redstar drawled. "Eighteen against eight."

"DeathClan must either become SunClan, with a new leader, or your Clan will have to crumble." Brightstar hissed.

"Your cats are good cats." Finchstar mewed. Some aren't. "You are not." Redstar could see Twilightpelt kill a DarkClan warrior, then run over to Redstar's aid. By now, Redstar was thinking about having the loyal and strong tom as her mate. If Redstar died, she wanted kits to continue her legacy.

"Redstar! Get back!" Twilightpelt spat, clawing at the two leaders.

"Thanks." Redstar hissed quietly. This was the only cat Redstar could ever be soft near. Otherwise, Redstar's heart was as cold as the stars.

"Get out, and we will spare you." Brightstar growled.

"I will fight to the death-I will never be spared!" Redstar lunged at Brightstar, biting, hissing, clawing. The three leaders and warrior fought. A spitting mass of blood and fur. After what seemed like hours but was truly heartbeats, Redstar fell onto the dirt.

Stonepond

A gray tom healed both MoonClan and DarkClan cats. His Clan had known that DeathClan would attack-Thus they asked Finchstar for help. Stonepond was grateful that it was Finchstar and not Bloodstar, or his Clan would fall. He peeked out of the medicine den, and saw Redstar falling to the ground. A black tom, of DarkClan, even, rushed to her. Redstar was losing a life. What happened to leaders when they lose a life, if they are against StarClan? Stonepond wondered.

He saw DeathClan cats running to his den. He had guessed they would try to rid of his supplies and himself. Three cats were coming. One was a dark brown tabby, another was a small tortoiseshell, then the third was a cream tabby. The first tabby lunged forward, and clawed at Stonepond's pelt. The medicine cat yelped, and tried to claw back. He could hear the cream cat speaking to the tortoiseshell.

"Why do we listen to Redstar?" She said. The tortoiseshell widened her eyes, and ran at Stonepond, dodging the question. The gray MoonClan tom darted to the side. He could see at the corner of his eyes a rose beneath a tree. There was moss on the bottom of the tree, and some specks of the moss on the flower. The flower had a rip in one of its petals.

"Rosescar! Fight the medicine cat!" The dark tabby hissed.

"I won't." Rosescar stared at the tom. "I will not go against the warrior code, Sparrowclaw."

"You are by disrespecting Redstar!" Stonepond saw the Clanmates begin to fight. Sparrowclaw darted at Rosescar, but the she-cat leaped up, and clawed his back. She ran to Stonepond.

"Heal your Clanmates." She mewed quickly. She then turned around. "I will help fight on your side." She called over her shoulder as she leaped back into battle. Stonepond blinked. She's helping! We have a chance!
