The crossroads were filled with umbrellas of all sorts of colors, the moment the light turned green for the pedestrians.
People passing through, some bumping into each other. Night time through the busiest hour of the streets.
I was there too, but not alone.
Jungkook's arm was crossed with mine, as we shared his umbrella towards my place.
Friday meant scary movies and cheezy filled crust pizza for the last two years we were best friends.
I loved the way this busy city looked at night, and even more right now.
All the colorful neon lights reflected everywhere around, from the waiting wet cars, even to the pedestrians raincoats.
But mostly to the shiny plastic see-through umbrellas, that most of the people seem to have.
The woman standing in the middle of the crossroad had one like that.
But for a weird reason, she wasn't holding it anymore. It was left upside down on the street, beside her, as she stood lost, staring to nowhere.
Her bright blue coat was soaking and dripping, the same way her straight black hair did.
The mascara was smudged under her eyes, creating black tears on her perfect ivory skin.
I noticed that something was off, her standing in the rain, in the middle of the crowd, but somehow, no one else seemed to.
A cold breeze was pulling our umbrella, as we moved more toward her, finishing our route to the end of the road.
Then she moved.
She slowly turned, her lost eyes focused on a man that was passing by, close enough for her to grab him.
It all happened in less than a second, yet I still remember it lasting like it was full minutes of pure chaos.
Every detail.
How her red lips curled over her teeth as she sank them into that man's neck.
How her also red nails sank into his flesh as she pulled him, like she could not defeat the need inside her.
How the blood instantly flooded his white shirt, that after two seconds was also see-through from the heavy rain.
How the people scattered away, like birds after a gunshot.
Screams mixing with the poor man's screams, he used all his force to push the crazy woman away.
And then I knew that Jungkook was looking at the same thing I was looking with wide from terror eyes.
The man's throat was torn from her brutal bite, he was chocking with his own blood, his short breaths interrupted, as he held his neck.
I knew that Jungkook was also looking with the same eyes as me, cause I could feel his strong grip around my arm.
"Run"
He said with a short breath, without looking at me, just pulling me with him, away, to what he considered for that second that safety was.
And then rain.
A lot of it.
We dropped the umbrella at that scene, our only concern was each other's safety.
I was looking only at my wet boots crashing through the water puddles of the city, as Jungkook was leading me with his running steps.
I couldn't tell what was on his mind. What his plan was.
I only knew that we were going to the exact opposite way of my apartment.
You know, in all those zombie movies, when the outbreak happens, it shows that even for days, almost everything is functioning normally until the hospitals are full, or until people actually realize what is happening when the government stops covering it up and shit.
The truth is, it only took a few minutes for the shiny, bright, colorful, busy, overpopulated city of Seoul, to go completely dark.
