This story is about Lawrence Sundermann a 20 year old man in the 95th rifles in the British Army. He serves under Sir Arthur Wellesley the 1st Duke of Wellington. His brother Ronnie Watson who is 25 and in the cavalry despises Lawrence Sundermann for a family secret that he knows about but Lawrence doesnt. Ronnie Watson has also managed to get his other friends who are in the same group as Lawrence or in the cavalry to despise Lawrence as well.

This story takes place in the year 1815 and Napoleon is still the Emperor of France and he is going to attack Brussels. Lawrence Sundermann who moved out of Britain to go live in Prussia away from his older brother has heard the news and is preparing to go fight in Belgium.

He is hoping not to see his brother on the way there because he has had enough of his hateful comments and constant bragging about his rank. He plans to travel to Brussels with the Prussian army he understands some Prussian due to living in Berlin for a
couple of years so he will be able to talk with some of the Prussian soldiers.

He has never met the leader of the Prussian army but he has heard that the leader is good at playing the flute and writing poetry.  He is interested in meeting this leader of the Prussian army and hoping he will meet this leader. But before he leaves with the Prussian army he decides to go see his uncle Peter Sundermann who use to be a Prussian guard and ask him about the leader of the Prussian army.
