Chapter 9: Reflective Gate
Several hours later...
Draven finds himself in the midst of an abandoned mansion's courtyard in the crack of dawn.
Draven: "(in head) I don't want to kill you Angelos."
He clenches his weapon tightly, accidentally creating sparks in the air around his hand.
Draven: "I will if I have to."
He walks forward as though he's carrying a weight on his chest as the sounds of creaking wood begins to echo around him.
Draven: "The old me would've turned myself in already..."
He looks at the front door as his eyes spark with lightning.
Draven: "... not now or ever again."
A ring like blast of wind shots from Draven, causing the mansion to have a new scar and a couple sneaky bastards trying to get the jump on him sliced in half.
Draven: "(in head) Is that how I actually feel? Or is it a lie I'm telling myself?"
He steps onto the front porch.
Draven: "(in head) I'll find out here and now."
He kicks the door down and walks inside.
Meanwhile...
Angelos is looking at himself in front of one of dozens of mirrors that line the entirety of a gigantic room while sitting on the floor.
Angelos: "What do you hope to gain Draven? You can't change the status quo, you can't beat the Blood Saints, but most importantly..."
Angelos begins to cry.
Angelos: "(tearing up) ... you can't make me a traitor."
He presses his hand on the mirror, causing the surface to behave like water.
Two hours later...
Draven kicks the door that leads to the basement wide open, knowing that Angelos is down there.
Draven: "(in head) Of course he'd hide down here."
He slowly walks down, knowing that he's delaying the inevitable.
Draven: "(in head) I'll try and make is swift."
He steps into the room of mirrors at the bottom to find Angelos facing away from him, still staring at the mirror.
Angelos: "Why become a traitor? Why turn on those who are the reason why we aren't dead? Why choose to kill?"
Draven: "All of this to kill billions of mortals at a time? It's not right!"
Angelos begins to stand.
Angelos: "I viewed you like my actual brother."
Draven: "Then I hoped to face you later. You knew that you'd be one of the hardest for me to kill."
Angelos looks back at Draven.
Angelos: "I am a Blood Saint first and an individual second."
Angelos walks towards the mirror in front of him.
Angelos: "I will save the remaining saints, and you'll be the price."
Angelos steps into the mirror, causing him to vanish instantly inside.
Draven: "Teleportation. That doesn't sound good."
Draven's body is surrounded by wind as he assumes the best guard he can.
Draven: "(in head) I have to anticipate his movements."
Angelos: "You can't anticipate what you can't expect."
Angelos drops from the ceiling and elbows Draven in the skull before falling through another mirror on the floor.
Draven: "(rubbing neck) I'll figure you out Angelos!"
Draven gets ready for another aerial attack.
Angelos: "The only way to win is to constantly change your strategy."
Angelos kicks Draven in the balls from the floor, quickly pulling his leg back through.
Draven: "(in pain) Now that's what I'd call dirty!"
His winds begin to die.
Angelos: "If you want to stop me from fighting dirty, then I'd suggest you'd actually fight."
Angelos darts out of a wall and slugs Draven with a rocketing punch before jumping back in again.
Draven: "(in head) Am I living my own lie?"
Angelos's attacks grow relentless, forcing Draven to be beaten senseless with each strike.
Angelos: "(in head) This hurts me more than it hurts you."
A punch to the gut causes Draven to cough up blood.
Draven: "(coughing blood) Please don't make me do this."
Draven frantically flails his weapon around in a desperate attempt to hit Angelos to no avail as several darts are tossed at him through the mirrors.
Angelos: "I'm sorry Draven, but it's over."
Angelos grabs Draven's skull from the mirrors and yanks it straight into the ground, smashing his skull against the floor, supposedly knocking him out as Angelos exits the mirrors.
Angelos: "It didn't have to be this way."
Draven's body is beginning to spark with electricity as Angelos looks away.
Draven: "(menacingly) I won't live a lie."
A strong gust pulls Draven to his feet.
Angelos: "(nervous) What's going on?!"
A thin layer of water covers the floor.
Draven: "(menacingly) I can't live a lie."
The floor mirrors are shattered by spikes of earth from below as Draven's eyes cackle.
Angelos: "(sweating) Wh-What's happening?!"
Draven menacingly glares at Angelos as electricity and wind swirl around him.
Draven: "(menacingly) My last resort."
Draven's eyes let their tears roam free, but it's clear Draven isn't crying.
Draven: "I'll make this quick and painless."
More earth shatters the mirrors above and the floor is covered in more and more water.
Angelos: "(in head) He's limiting my options!"
He rushes towards the nearest wall mirror.
Draven: "I can't let you do that."
A sudden gust of wind from the mirror sends Angelos flying backwards and straight towards Draven.
Angelos: "(feebly) Am I... dead?"
Draven's morning star has forced it's way through his stomach.
Draven: "It didn't have to end like this."
A massive electrical current runs down the chain and straight throughout the entirety of Angelos's body, frying him from the inside out.
Angelos: "(in pain) St-Stop! I-It h-hurts!"
The flow suddenly stops.
Draven: "Then I'l let you die in peace."
Draven rips out his weapon, allowing Angelos's fried body to drop to the floor as all traces of malicious intent drain from his body.
Draven: "(breathing heavily) I can't... not again..."
He looks at his fallen brother's body as his tears begin to willingly flow while he falls to his knees.
Draven: "(crying) You didn't have to..."
He punches the ground, lodging mirror shards in his hand.
Draven: "(crying) ... I could've saved you!"
He punches the ground again, lodging the shards deeper.
Draven: "(crying) I COULD'VE SAVED YOU GODDAMMIT!!!!"
He lets his real emotions pour through him for once, knowing that he's made the most difficult murder he'll ever do...
