Chapter 7: Decaying

Several hours later...

Draven now stands in front of what seems to be an abandoned graveyard during the setting sun.

Draven: "Pay the price Lithius."

As he steps inside, the sounds of cracking twigs and leaves surround him.

Draven: "Stop sending weaklings to fight in a war you won't win."

Several pikes of stone erupt from the ground around him, skewering at least a dozen husks without a second thought.

Draven: "Worthless."

He continues through the awaited maze ahead of him.

Meanwhile...

Lithius is sitting atop an old, ruined, and broken fountain as he lets a bit of skin around his elbows to show through his clothes.

Lithius: "I really hate it when I've got to do the dirty work."

He rips off a chunk of his own skin. It does heal instantaneously, but he lets out a grunt of pain.

Lithius: "Just hurry up and die by my hand, traitor."

An hour later...

The sun has fallen as the night rises when a bolt of lightning strikes a husk behind Draven.

Draven: "Stop hiding like a coward Lithius!"

???: "I'm playing smart, traitor."

A scrap of skin lands on Draven's arm, causing his actual arm to rot for a second before he gets it off.

Draven: "What the hell?"

Draven's arm heals slower than usual.

???: "I'm standing right in front of your face."

Lithius stands atop the fountain, the moon positioned perfectly behind him.

Draven: "You always did get on my nerves Lithius."

Lithius hops down and stares at Draven dead in the eyes.

Lithius: "The feeling is mutual."

He rips off more of his skin, causing him to shriek in pain as he heals.

Draven: "Looks like your skin makes living tissue rot."

Lithius: "(breathing heavily) Don't think for a second that no one knows about your matter manipulation."

Draven begins to swing his weapon as Lithius makes a mad dash for him.

Lithius: "We already know your tricks. Only a matter of time before we kill you."

The earth rises around Draven, but Lithius leaps over it and places the skin chunks on his face, causing it to rot a bit before Draven rips it off and lets his hands rot for a second as well.

Draven:"(in head) His rotting skin also slows down my healing factor."

Draven makes an opening in the walls and jumps through as Lithius arms himself with more skin.

Draven: "(in head) I need to end this fast!"

Lithius manages to get the skin on Draven's legs for a moment, but he has to wait a bit before he can rip off more.

Lithius: "I won't let you."

The winds begin to rage behind Draven.

Draven: "Try me."

Lithius begins to chuckle.

Lithius: "(chuckling) Oh really?"

Lithius's sinister smile can be seen behind his mask.

Lithius: "(smiling) I love it when I can feel desperation from my opponent."

His saliva begins to leak out of the mask, causing the straps connecting it to his face to burn away.

Draven: "What the hell?!"

The straps break off as the mask drops to be hanging off of his neck, revealing his sickening grin oozing with dark green saliva that flies off with the wind.

Lithius: "(maniacally) Now I'm done playing around!"

Lithius lunges towards Draven like a rabid dog, despite the strength of the winds.

Draven: "(gritting teeth) Shit!"

Draven switches to lightning and backflips out of the way just before Lithius can bite him.

Draven: "If his skin can slow me down, then I really don't want to know what a bite from him will do!"

Lithius: "(unhinged) Yes! Desperation! Fear! Anguish!"

He snaps his jaws at his opponent before darting all around the ground, each drop leaving a hole in the ground and chunks of gravestones lost to the pages of history.

Draven: "(disgusted) And here I thought normal Lithius should've been burning in hell."

Draven can't afford to get too close or he could lose a little more than his weapon.

Lithius: "(unhinged) How can a god burn in hell?"

Draven vaults himself into the air with a rising pillar of earth and a blast of wind, giving him only about a minute to come up with a strategy before falling.

Draven: "(n head) How would I deal with a rabid dog?"

Lithius seems to be unable to control his movements, making a clear pattern impossible to pin down.

Draven: "(in head) There's still got to be a trace of the prideful prick in there."

He's already halfway down as he notices how Lithius tends to stay closer to the graves rather than directly below him.

Draven: "(smirking) He'd rather not associate with me."

Draven's body is being surrounded by a small, spiraling thunderstorm as he spins downward like a top.

Draven: "(smirking) Sayonara asshole."

Lithius: "Huh?"

Lightning repeatedly strikes all around the area, preventing Lithius from making some distance while trying to make his next move.

Lithius: "What the hell are you doing?!"

The storm stops as Draven touches the ground.

Draven: "Putting you in your grave."

A gigantic pit surrounds Draven as he stands on a lone pillar in the center, causing Lithius to fall in it's depths.

Lithius: "NOOOOOOO!!!!!!"

Draven: "(deep breath) I am Draven, the God Hunter."

The pit closes like a shark's jaws, causing a little bit of Lithius's blood and one of his smashed eyeballs to squirt out of the cracks, confirming Draven as the victor.

Draven: "Two down, eleven to go."

Draven stumbles for a moment before he gets his bearings and starts his return trip.
