Chapter 12: In a Dream

Draven: "(drowsy) What the...?"

Draven finds himself in a world that's like what would happen if his domain was bent and distorted to look like that angular, haunted house art style.

Draven: "Where the hell am I? This isn't my domain."

He finds his morning star next to him.

Draven: "This feels like a dream, but at the same time it doesn't."

He picks up his weapon as the exit seemingly gets further and further away.

Draven: "(blinking) This has to be a dream."

???: "Then why am I here Draven?"

Morayne's voice is all around Draven.

Draven: "Morayne!"

Morayne: "It's because this is my power! The power to manipulate the dream!"

He tries to stand, but the ground vanishes beneath him so he falls into a pit.

Morayne: "Your mental and physical state are linked here! If I kill you here, then you'll die in the real world!"

Draven: "You really know how to catch someone off guard!"

Draven lands in a golden hallway lined with his memories, both good and bad.

Morayne: "(cackling) Isn't it wonderful?"

Draven smashes a portrait of him and Angelos.

Draven: "(pissed) Like hell it is!"

Morayne: "Aw, why the long face? You look like you're about to slit your own throat!"

Draven is getting pissed by the taunts from both Morayne and his memories.

Draven: "(pissed) I'm going to fucking kill you."

Morayne: "If you can even find me is the hard part!"

The hallway splits into a multitude of passages.

Morayne: "So try me!"

Her voice dies out.

Draven: "(pissed) Challenge accepted!"

He rushes down one of the passages.

Meanwhile...

Morayne is casually strolling through a series of distorted staircases, her claws dragging against the floor and a smug look on her face.

Morayne: "(smugly) What makes you think you can beat me on my turf? These may be your dreams, but they bend to my will!"

Her place along the steps change drastically with each step.

Morayne: "(cackling) Oh how looks can be deceiving!"

Several hours later...

Draven has gotten nowhere. No matter which way he goes, he just ends back up where he started.

Draven: "I'm getting nowhere!"

This is really getting to him.

Draven: "Stop hiding like a coward you bitch!"

Her voice can be heard again.

Morayne: "Aw, I can't toy with you anymore? Just when it was getting good too..."

All of the passages converge into one that leads straight ahead.

Morayne: "You want to die that badly? Then get over here."

Draven looks down the passage.

Draven: "Don't even try to pull anything funny."

Electricity cackles around him.

Morayne: "No, I know when I'm done playing with my prey."

He cautiously heads forward.

A half hour later...

Draven finds himself walking down a long set of stairs, straight into a pure white abyss.

Draven: "(in head) I need to calm down. She's just trying to get under my skin so I mess up."

The second he reaches the bottom and takes a step forward, the area suddenly cuts to a large, purple platform floating in a pink, metallic ball.

Morayne: "Now I didn't lie."

Morayne appears in the center of the platform.

Draven: "Who knew the one who'd rather stay asleep is the one who's the biggest pain."

Morayne: "Aw, you find m annoying?"

Draven: "Can't be as bad as Lithius."

The platform begins to distort beneath Draven.

Morayne: "Mind if I keep it up?"

Morayne seemingly teleports around the field.

Draven: "(gritting teeth) Yes I do mind."

In an instant, he finds one of her claws sticking through his stomach.

Morayne: "Do me a favor and let me finish this real quick?"

She rips the claw out and pushes Draven towards the center as he begins gushing blood.

Draven: "(in head) So the trick to beating her is predicting a dream?"

He gets on his feet.

Morayne: "Tick tock Draven."

The ground erupts beneath him and holds him in a pair of stone jaws.

Draven: "My time isn't running out!"

A burst of wind forces the jaws to open long enough for him to escape.

Morayne: "How so? As long as you're trapped in my dream you can't wake up, and I control what happens here."

Draven: "(in pain) There's one thing you don't control..."

The air is beginning to cackle.

Draven: "... me!"

The electricity is running around the sphere.

Morayne: "But something like you is insignificant in a dream."

Morayne keeps striking Draven over and over again by seemingly teleporting, making his body bleed more and more.

Draven: "Nothing in a dream is like that."

The metallic barrier is impossible to touch.

Morayne: "So what? I don't need to be on the outside."

She uppercuts Draven in the jaw and does a downward punch that stabs him through the gut again and pinning him to the ground.

Morayne: "I can just kill you here!"

She's using her claw to tear his flesh from his gut to his chest.

Draven: "(coughing blood) You did just what I wanted."

The metal beneath Morayne has distorted and is currently holding her feet in place.

Morayne: "It's too late!"

The electricity is starting to connect to Draven's blood.

Draven: "(coughing blood) No, I've already won.."

The current is growing stronger as it coils up to the blood staining her clothes.

Morayne: "Y-You're using your own blood?!"

She rips her claw out and teleports, but the electricity is connecting to her no matter where she goes.

Draven: "(smirking) I'm not only using the water and iron in my blood, but your own weapon as well."

Draven is pouring all of his energy into keeping the electricity on her tail.

Morayne: "How can you do this?!"

The blood is piercing her body like several needles poking into her skin.

Draven: "(smirking) By being a man on a mission."

The electricity pours into the wounds and coils around her claws, hitting her with a rapidly rising voltage.

Morayne: "(in pain) Damn you Draven!"

He's stumbling onto his feet as his wounds slowly heal.

Draven: "(breathing heavily) No, damn those who're willing to kill mortals for a God they've never met."

Her blood protrudes from her body like spears and electricity frying her from the inside out, killing her in a heartbeat.

Draven: "(breathing heavily) Now let me out of this hell."

Everything falls apart as Draven wakes up to find it in the middle of the day and his blood painting his own walls.

Draven: "Disappear Morayne."

He turns around to find her body lying on the ground just as he left it.

Draven: "(sighing) This is why you can't win."

He grabs her body and tosses it out the window.

Draven: "... thinking that your on the side of justice is arrogance at the finest."
