8 - I Wish
"How much more time are they going to take?" Jeonghan looked at his watch while leaning against the car.
"Don't know." Hoshi mumbled as he kept scrolling through his phone while waiting in front of the apartment of the mortals.
It was when Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino were seen walking out of the house. Seungkwan and Dino were bickering as usual while Vernon was just laughing at their conversation.
Jeonghan and Hoshi didn't realise but their faces immediately lit up when they watched the other three approaching them.
"Good morning hyungs." The younger ones greeted them.
"What were you both fighting over?" Jeonghan asked as all of them occupied their seats in the car.
Jeonghan took the driver seat, Hoshi settled in the passenger seat while the other three got comfortable at the back.
"They were making bets over who will win more of the arcade's games." Vernon explained.
"No need to make bets." Jeonghan began to drive with a grin, "I'm gonna win anyways."
"Hyung!" Seungkwan got excited, "Don't underestimate us."
"We'll definitely beat you." Dino clapped enthusiastically.
"A good way to settle their dispute." Hoshi remarked to which everyone laughed.
After a blissful drive filled with laughter and cheers, they finally reached the arcade arena loaded with a variety of games, bright lights, delicious food stalls and of course people who were definitely not humans.
The mortals weren't aware of this fact. The news of them being in the Scarlet Coast wasn't a secret among the vampire netizens. But no one would dare to lay a hand on them. The rulers of Serenity and Rose Quartz Stylth were the only one allowed to deal with them. Plus, the citizens weren't short of blood banks anyways.
The younger ones were amazed to see the people bow for Jeonghan and Hoshi. According to their assumption and knowledge, this respect was due to them being well-off businessmen which was totally not the case.
"Let's buy the tokens first." Vernon suggested.
"Don't worry about them." Hoshi retorted, "Take as many tokens as you wish to, assume this place as your own."
"I was lowkey expecting you to say this." Seungkwan walked into the arena while everyone followed.
Within a while, they were all over the equipment and began to have the fun they were there for. Hoshi, Vernon and Dino were seated against adjacent screens and were competing in the same assassination game.
"You're so dead Hoshi hyung, fucking hide!!"
"I know, I'm already hiding."
"Then who's this beside me?"
"It's an opponent, shoot shoot shoot!"
"Fuck! Damn! Ayee noooo! Finally!"
"You were almost getting kicked out."
"It would have been funny."
"Shut up."
Jeonghan and Seungkwan were quick to occupy the basketball machine, competing for the highest score.
"You can't beat my score of 328 hyung, just give up." Seungkwan flicked his hair with a mischievous smile.
"I've already crossed 200." Jeonghan kept focusing on the game, "You're trying to hide your fear behind that cool look."
"Oh please, respectfully shut up."
"325...326...327...328...tie...329...you lost haha...340...341...time up." Jeonghan laughed as he turned around to tease the younger one.
"You're so mean." Seungkwan scrunched his brows, "I'm younger that you!!"
"Sorry but you look even more adorable when you're sulky. I can even pay thousands to see that face." Jeonghan swung his arm around Seungkwan's shoulder, "Let's go, looks like they're having a lot of fun."
Seungkwan grinned and walked along to the other three.
"It's break time, do you want to switch places with me and play the second round?" Hoshi asked Seungkwan who willingly took the seat.
"You shouldn't have done that Hoshi hyung!" Dino whined.
"Just go away if you don't like playing with me." Seungkwan calmly stated.
"Look at him trying to be so cool." Dino teased further.
"And look at you trying to fight for no reason." Seungkwan retorted.
"Yahh wait wait- what the-" Dino began to clap, "Look at Vernon hyung's new character. Why does it have the face of a horse?"
"Woah Vernon what's with this choice?" Seungkwan shared a high five with Dino, already forgetting about their bickering.
"See, when the enemies will see this character, they'll get distracted with the unique look-
"Weird look." Seungkwan remarked to which everyone laughed again.
"Whatever." Vernon continued, "They'll lose focus and I'll be quick to shoot them."
"If you're joking then your humour is broken."
"Guys the game has started!"
"Turn around the fuck-"
"Just shoot them why are you standing like a mannequin?"
"Yahh look someone has a thought process similar to Vernon."
"This frog faced character- pfft- shoot them instantly."
Meanwhile Jeonghan and Hoshi stood behind the humans who were creating chaos like never before.
"You know, yesterday I mentally slapped myself for thinking they're adorable." Jeonghan mumbled to Hoshi, "But now I've to admit this."
"You're right hyung." Hoshi chuckled, "They're so lively. Although we haven't spent much time with them, they're literally a very good company to hang out with."
"I know and I agree."
"How are we supposed to not get attached with them?" Hoshi sighed.
"It is what it is, their future is well known anyways." Jeonghan scoffed gloomily, "but let's forget it for a while. At least we can make them genuinely happy these days without worrying about our personal profits."
"They shouldn't have stepped into this land." Hoshi pursed his lips, "They're too good to be in a place which is literal hell for them."
"WE WON! YES!" The three humans screamed while hugging each other and soon dragged the two older ones into the celebration as well.
"We earned 138 tokens in total." Dino beamed, "Let's go to the other side now."
"Oh Seungcheol and Woozi hyung!" Seungkwan waved as Jeonghan and Hoshi turned around to witness the two unwanted figures waving back to the humans as they approached them.
"So good to see you here!" Vernon stated cheerfully as the pair avoided eye contact with Jeonghan and Hoshi for obvious reasons.
"This was pretty unexpected but good to see you!" Seungcheol chuckled while both of them greeted the humans.
"Wow I love it, let's play, all together." Vernon suggested.
"Yeah please! You guys already know each other." Dino referred to the two duos, "So it won't be awkward."
But the fact was that they knew each other way too well that it was obviously going to be very awkward.
"It would be so fun!" Seungkwan yelled excitedly.
"Yeah sure." Woozi nodded hesitantly.
The three mortals began to collect their tokens when Seungcheol scooted closer to Jeonghan, "Let's play along for this once."
"As if we have an option." Jeonghan rolled his eyes.
The next moment, they had decided their new games. Vernon and Dino sided Hoshi and Woozi to the karaoke while Seungkwan practically dragged Jeonghan and Seungcheol to the foot piano.
"This random song challenge is the hardest." Dino clicked on the screen, "Random songs will play without any break and they'll keep changing abruptly."
"Let's take a mic each, whoever will know the song can sing it." Vernon suggested, "And please don't stop if you see anyone else singing or else we'll mess up in the misunderstanding."
Woozi and Hoshi didn't say much. They kept agreeing to whatever Vernon and Dino were deciding with nods and words like 'okay', 'makes sense', 'good', etc. after which they finally took up the mics.
"Let's make it! Let's achieve 100 points!" Dino enthusiastically declared and click on the start button.
And the trail of random songs began to play to which the four players kept singing to whatever they knew. They were doing pretty good when a song called I Wish started playing.
Dino and Vernon did not know the song's melody very well but coincidentally, Hoshi and Woozi picked up the song instantly.
"Sometimes I think of you
I cry or laugh
I'm trying to erase you
My heart is so hurt
I've never taken it out
Did you understand me in time?"
The two humans kept vibing along with the song as it was a good one.
Hoshi and Woozi made an eye contact. For them, it wasn't just a song. It was an emotion. The lyrics were overwhelming for them, they were getting way too personal. It was almost everything they wanted to tell each other.
And it was when they dived into the old memories which didn't help at all.
--
"Woozi! Woozi! Woozi!"
"Stop yelling Hoshi!" Woozi pressed his palm against Hoshi's mouth, "Yes, I remember that we're going to the cafe together, don't worry."
Hoshi couldn't help but smile, "Thank you!"
"Why are you thanking me for the bare minimum?" Woozi mumbled while shuffling through his bag to find something.
"Because it's a huge deal in your case." Hoshi walked along with the younger, "You're always pushing me away as if I'm a bad guy or something."
Woozi halted. He was quick to realise that he had created so many gaps between him and Hoshi just because he wasn't sure of his own feelings. He had his own reasons for the same, it wasn't easy for him to trust anybody.
Being abandoned by his own parents when he was only 7 made him this way.
And Hoshi was the one who was always by his side and always dealt with his cold behaviour. Woozi was grateful for it with all his might but he didn't know how to express it.
"I'm sorry." Woozi muttered while looking at the ground, "I swear I didn't want to make you feel that way."
"No it's alright Woozi, I'm not blaming you for anything." Hoshi held the younger's hand, "I know you and I understand you. All of us in our group do! We all know how good of a person you are."
Woozi chuckled, "I'm really grateful, especially to you, trust me!"
"And thanks for leaving those cupcakes for me yesterday in my locker." Hoshi smirked, "They were delicious."
"How do you know I left them?"
"I just do!"
---
The tension in the air was thick and the humans were completely oblivious about the fact but the other two continued to pour their hearts into the song.
"I can't organize my heart that has accumulated so much
To that person I envy
A letter that won't arrive
Let's send it
I hope you're seeing my dreams (I hope so)
I wish we could be sick together every hour
Every day, even in many seasons
I don't know what you think
I blame myself for not being good enough all day"
"Woahh they're really good." Seungkwan appreciated as the sound of the two singing reached their section as well.
He was customizing the huge piano keyboard and its lights through the screen while vibing along with the songs they were singing in the karaoke.
Meanwhile Jeonghan and Seungcheol stood behind him with hands crossed against their chest, trying their best to hide their rivalry and all from the humans. The heartfelt lyrics found its way into their suppressed emotions as they looked at each other.
"Overflowing with countless emotions
I looked at myself again in a daze, left alone
A very painful night without any reason
Hiding your tears is so difficult
Pieces of your day you never had
Can't I hope?
I can't organize my heart that has accumulated so much
To that person I envy
A letter that won't arrive"
Seungcheol stared at Jeonghan with a bitter smile as if he wanted to convey the message to him. Yes, they were enemies but he wanted to embrace the younger and assure him that he is always there for him.
He knew very well that Jeonghan wanted the same as well. But his heart was way too broken because of the betrayal which 'he believed' was through Seungcheol, to actually express his true feelings.
"Blame me for even the smallest amount of love
Overflowing with countless emotions
Every single one of them is a great joy to me.
It hurts so much without anything, I oh oh yeah ooh
In my time (my dreams are sweet)
In your time (you are one, but there are many dreams alive by your side)
In our time (if there is even dew between you and me)
In our time (maybe a brighter morning will come)
While thinking, I count the stars alone
A very painful night without any reason."
They averted their gazes and Seungkwan finally began to play the notes while walking and jumping over the keyboard.
He was enjoying it and that's what distracted the duo towards himself.
It was when Jeonghan was linked by Hoshi, 'Jeonghan hyung, shield Seungkwan! QUICK!'
Jeonghan didn't waste a second and snapped his fingers which formed an imaginary shield around Seungkwan. Seungcheol understood what happened and looked at Jeonghan with a puzzled look.
And Jeonghan worded out the most unwanted word as the answer.
Demons.
A/n : Since, this was (meant to be but I moved some parts to the next chapter) a long chapter, you guys deserve some spoilers!!
Although I'm not sure if the plot of the third one is good enough, so it's controversial but the top two are definitely making me excited!!
Anyways, take care everyone!
