18 - Middle Of The Night

Joshua just closed his eyes, ready to accept his fate. It was when a loud sound of swords clinging was heard.

He opened his eyes to witness Jeonghan standing in front of himself as his eyes blazed red and his sword stuck to Seungcheol's.

Yes, the exact friend with whom he had just fought for his love.

"What do you think you're doing?" Jeonghan mumbled in rage as he completely covered Joshua from Seungcheol.

Hoshi and Mingyu came running as well. Mingyu recited a spell to return Joshua's power who flinched with the sudden force. Both of them assured the older that he would be fine.

"Something which you can never do." Seungcheol gritted his teeth, "Teach him a lesson for hurting Seokmin."

"And who are you to do so?" Jeonghan pushed the older away through his sword, "Who gave you the right to teach him a lesson? Who allowed you to interfere between their personal matters? Did Seokmin ask you to help him? Did he?"

No, I just jumped into your HQ.

"That doesn't matter." Seungcheol rolled his eyes, "I won't wait for him to ask him to help him when I can clearly see him in pain."

"Every relationship has ups and downs, they're also having them." Jeonghan frowned, "Why are you trying to jump in?"

"If that's the case, then why have you retracted Joshua's powers?" Seungcheol cocked a brow, "Is it because you too found out about them being together and you couldn't tolerate it?"

"He gave up on them himself." Jeonghan growled, "But again, why would I explain to you?"

"Jeonghan, just get away from my path." Seungcheol calmed his nerves, "I don't want to argue with you right now, we've a lot of time for that."

"No, I don't have time to fuck around with you." Jeonghan scoffed, "Go back Seungcheol."
------------------------

"You're finally here." Seungcheol embraced Jeonghan, "Do you know how much I missed you all this time? Do you know how worried I was?"

But the younger didn't react. He freed himself from the older's grip, "Why are you acting so weird?"

"Weird?"

"Yeah, why are you concerned about me?" Jeonghan scrunched his brows, "It's weird."

"How exactly?" Seungcheol was confused, "We were together Jeonghan and you left without even talking to me. Do you know what happened after that? Hoshi, Mingyu and Joshua think that you left because of me but I know you trust me."

"Trust you?" Jeonghan chuckled bitterly, "Am I still supposed to trust you? Really? I'm not dumb, Choi Seungcheol. You don't need to pretend as if you care for me, not after you pulled such a dirty act to have me killed."

"Jeonghan!" Seungcheol held the younger's hands, "You know I can't do this right?"

"You DID that already." Jeonghan yanked his hands away, "Yoon Jeonghan has nothing to do with Choi Seungcheol. The sooner you accept this, the better it will be."

"You'll regret it, very soon!" Seungcheol composed himself, "You'll regret not trusting me for sure."

"In your fucking dreams." Jeonghan spat.

"Didn't expect this from you." Seungcheol chuckled bitterly, "No trust, no love. Fine, go on. All the best."
---------------------

"I'm warning you for the last time." Seungcheol glared at the younger, "DON'T INTERFERE."

"And why would I comply?" Jeonghan frowned, "Who am I? Your friend? No right?"
---------------------

"Seungcheol, we heard Jeonghan is back?" Eunwoo swung his arm around him as the group of demons sat with the Rose Quartz Stylth while the Serenity Stylth was seated on another table beside them in a cafe.

Yes, the demons used to be friends with the vampires although they weren't any boon to the Scarlet Coast. But gradually, as the dispute between them intensified, all the demons left the Coast.

"You didn't introduce him to us." Hyungwon grinned, "I mean we know him but not that well."

"He's NOT someone I associate with." Seungcheol mumbled in distress, "How can I introduce him to you?"

"But weren't you guys dating before he left?" Sanha teased.

"That was just a mistake." Seungcheol rolled his eyes, "Don't bother."

Jeonghan clenched his fist as he focused on his drink pretending to ignore the intentional mockery going on.

"Mistake? Wow!" Kihyun laughed, "Did he cheat on you when he was gone? I've heard there are a lot of handsome demons, werewolves, etc out there."

"You're right." Jinyoung added, "I mean, he was gone for really long. Not only once, he had time to have 'fun' multiple times."

Hoshi was about to get up from the table in rage when Jeonghan gestured for him to stop, "Ignore them." He mumbled.

"But I don't blame him if he did so." Eunwoo chuckled, "Since you've never left the Coast, you don't know Seungcheol but as Kihyun said, there are loads of attractions and distractions out there."

"Plus Jeonghan is himself a good looking royal blooded vampire." Sanha ignited the fire even more, "He must have got a lot, like literally a lot of opportunities without even doing anything."

Seungcheol remained silent. No, he didn't want to hear all these things. He would have snapped anyone's head who would dare to speak this kind of shit against Jeonghan.

But he kept his mouth shut for two reasons. One, they were his friends. Second, he had got a really awful treatment from the younger one earlier. He hated it. He didn't understand why he was getting blamed for something he didn't do.

"Enough guys." Wonwoo intervened, "I think we don't need to discuss this topic."

"We were just saying what's true." Hyungwon shrugged, "Because it's impossible for him to return all well and fine without you know- playing dirty games."

"And we all know how cunning he is." Kihyun added, "He must have got at lot of fuck buddies for sure."

Jinyoung laughed, "So he really became a whor-" Before he could complete his sentence, he earned a tight slap across his face.

But the slap wasn't from Seungcheol. It was from Hoshi who grabbed Jinyoung's collars and punched him harshly, "Watch your fucking mouth got it? WE don't fuck around with anyone for our advantage like YOU. Do you know why? Because we've enough potential to win WITHOUT playing any kind of dirty games."

"Stop it guys, calm down." Eunwoo separated Jinyoung from Hoshi.

"Cha Eunwoo." Hoshi rested his hand on the former's shoulder, "Take your minions and go back to where you belong. You all have just insulted the leader of a Stylth. Being thrown away from the Coast is the least punishment you can get for this act."

"Kwon Soonyoung." Eunwoo called his full name, "Bold of you to assume that we want to stay here. This was our last get together with our CLOSE friends anyways."

"Thanks for this great memory Seungcheol." Jinyoung displayed the scar he got from Hoshi's hit.

"We'll see you again though." Sanha winked at Jeonghan, "Don't miss us too much."

And within a moment, all the demons disappeared after which Seungcheol looked at Hoshi, "What did you do huh?"

"Something which you should've done." Mingyu stepped forward, "For years, you've been acting as if you loved and missed him so much. And today you couldn't even defend him when they were talking complete shit about him?"

"Didn't he himself say that he isn't associated with Seungcheol hyung anymore?" Woozi managed to speak with a rather heavy heart, "Who are we to defend him?"

"Right." Joshua chuckled bitterly, "You all are no one to us. Fine then, if you want it to be that way, we are more than glad."

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Jeonghan called out Seungcheol, "Do you really think I'll give you an explanation of my innocence? If you think I cheated on you, keep thinking that. If you think I slept with many, go on, I don't give two flying fucks. But keep this in mind Choi Seungcheol, don't preach about trust and love after you doubted me because of some freaking bastards."
---------------------

"Let's end it all, let's end our bitter past." Jeonghan's orbs glowed blood red.

"And there's only one way to do so." Seungcheol's eyes radiated equally, "You were right, we aren't meant to be together."

"We'll never leave each other and our friends." The little boy promised.

"We'll always laugh, cry and play together." The other boy jumped.

Jeonghan shook his head. He successfully created a treacherous red cloud shining brightly in the dark and slammed it against Seungcheol. The other male hit the wall behind him harshly due to the powerful impact.

"I'll always protect you, no matter what." The small boy embraced his best friend.

"Same, I'll always stand by your side." The latter promised.

Seungcheol gritted his teeth and with an immense speed, he approached Jeonghan, punching across his face twice and disappearing within seconds.

Jeonghan stumbled with the sudden attack and then looked around. "So you wanna play that hard huh?" He smirked and then caught Seungcheol who was casting spells all over the place. After all, Jeonghan was an equally powerful opponent.

And after getting trapped within each other's spells, the ugly fight between them began. All the promises that were made years ago disappeared in thin air.

Their swords clashed against each other. They were constantly getting scars through the sharp weapon but they would heal instantly, one of the advantages of being a vampire.

Their eyes were sparkling red with rage. They knew what emotions they held beneath the hatred. In an instant, both of them were in the sky, having a war against the moonlight.

"Please stop, I'm really sorry Jeonghan!" Joshua knelt down while yelling.

"I'm sorry too Cheol hyung, please stop." Seokmin screamed to convey his message.

But the two were too busy to clasp each other's throats to death to hear anything.

"Don't be sorry hyung." Mingyu held Joshua, "They may have started fighting over you and Seokmin but that's no more the same cause."

"Exactly." Hoshi agreed, "They're experts in creating their own fire out of the smallest sparks."

"Guys." Wonwoo faced his enemy stylth, "I know we are not supposed to get along well but we need to stop them."

"We can't let those guys know about our identity or it's all over." Woozi explained.

"You're right." Mingyu nodded, "Hoshi, take care of Shua hyung, I'll go stop Jeonghan hyung."

"But isn't Seungcheol needed to be stopped as well?" Hoshi glared at Wonwoo and Woozi, "It's not our fault after all."

"I'm going for the same Hoshi." Wonwoo stated in an obvious tone, "No need to assume things."

"Then I'll look after Seokmin." Woozi suggested.

Mingyu and Wonwoo shared a brief glance and immediately flew towards the starry night sky. It was a pity that a beautiful night which should be cherished was witnessing such ugly fights.

Mingyu and Wonwoo didn't have to do much, when Jeonghan and Seungcheol were ready to clash their swords, the other two interfered between them, stopping the war instantly.

"Hyung!" Mingyu addressed Jeonghan, "If you continue this stupid fight, we'll get caught."

"That's right hyung." Wonwoo held Seungcheol, "Let's go."

"You." Jeonghan pointed his sword against Seungcheol, "Don't dare to lay your filthy hands on my family ever again."

"Oh please, stop playing the victim card." Seungcheol rolled his eyes, "Ask him to stay away from Seokmin."

"The same goes with you." Jeonghan warned and left after which each and every person left one by one either with rage or with disappointment.

But one thing remained common, each of them left with a broken heart.

And just when everything seemed to be progressing, it all shattered, once again.

"Did you hear something?" Seungkwan woke up Vernon who was dozed off beside him while he was working on his laptop.

Vernon wrapped his arms around Seungkwan's waist, "Let me just sleep, kwan."

"You're unbelievable." Seungkwan rolled his eyes as he freed himself from Vernon's grip and descended downstairs after leaving his room.

Surprisingly, Jun was already present there, "Did you hear something as well? A loud thud?"

Seungkwan nodded, "Where's Minghao hyung?"

"Sleeping." Jun replied, "Vernon is sleeping too?"

"Yeah." Seungkwan turned around, "Let me check on Dino once."

Jun looked around himself while the younger returned after a few minutes, "He's asleep too."

"Then where did this noise come from?" Jun furrowed his brows.

"I think it came from outside." Seungkwan suggested, "Let's check?"

"But we're not allowed to leave the house alone." Jun mumbled.

"We'll not step outside the main gate." Seungkwan walked outside as Jun followed him. They looked around every single corner but there was nothing found which could possibly be the source of the sound they had heard earlier.

"Wait, what's that?" Jun pointed at the screen which displayed the cctv footage of the area right outside the main gate.

"Seems like a book to me." Seungkwan looked at the screen keenly, "Should we take it in?"

"But opening the gate is risky." Jun paused, "Remember the criminals?"

"Yeah but we'll quickly drag it in, what say?" Seungkwan suggested, "You can keep monitoring through the camera and I'll take the book. Maybe it can help us in our research."

"Okay sure, but be careful." Jun warned as he focused on the screen.

Seungkwan opened the main gate, grabbed the thick book and closed the door immediately.

They looked at the book which said, "The Scarlet Coast : Statistics, Rules and Records".

And with that one mistake, the spell around the apartment broke.

A/n : Damn, the part where the demons were calling out Jeonghan in the past was so hard to right, I'm sorry!

The demons have initiated their plan so buckle up for more and more drama lmaoo.

Anyways, take care everyone!
