12 - Lie Again

The humans were indeed special. Because you won't see the Serenity and Rose Quartz Stylth under the same roof and not clasping each other's throats.

The mortals had organised a drinking party and had invited both the Stylths together. They wanted to repay for everything the netizens have been doing for them. And this was the best idea that came up after a series of discussion.

The two Stylths were pretending to be fine in each other's presence while maintaining a distance. They didn't want to make anything obvious and at the same time, they were not meant to stay together.

Jeonghan and Seungcheol were avoiding each other at all costs and that was just a fuel to Seungcheol's thoughts of last night. He was blaming himself for being too harsh with the younger. But he had a limit too which was breaking off by each passing day.

"So are you enjoying our little get together?" Seungkwan stood up in the middle.

Seokmin swung his arms around Wonwoo as he sat beside him with a can of alcohol, "Of course, you guys are the best."

(Sitting arrangement :-

Humans : Jun Minghao Dino Seungkwan Vernon
Serenity : Jeonghan Hoshi Mingyu Joshua
Rose Quartz : Seungcheol Woozi Wonwoo Seokmin)

Wonwoo muttered something to Seokmin to which both of them giggled. They were talking some gibberish while their hands kept smacking each other's arms, shoulders or thighs.

Everyone was either talking or focusing on the movie running on the tv while drinking and eating snacks.

But once you turn towards Joshua and Mingyu, they were rather focusing on the duo immersed in their own small world.

Joshua and Mingyu looked at each other for a brief second. The look that said, 'keep your man away from mine'. Yes, they exactly knew what their eyes were conveying but they couldn't say it out loud.

So they turned back to glare at thier men. Their eyes were boring holes into the unfazed duo as if their glances would form a wall between them.

It was just a friendly interaction between Wonwoo and Seokmin but their other halves were so affection deprived that they couldn't help but get jealous.

"Woah hyung." Hoshi tapped Joshua's arms while focusing on the screen, "That kid looks like you when you're sulking."

"Keep quiet Hoshi." Joshua blurted out.

"Wha-" Hoshi turned towards Joshua in disbelief and so did Jeonghan as Joshua's distress was loud enough. Loud enough to turn Seokmin's attention towards him and Wonwoo's towards Mingyu who was already glaring him.

"I'm sorry." Joshua laughed, "I don't sulk."

"You just did." Hoshi brushed it off and focused back to the screen.

"I'm craving ramen all of a sudden." Seokmin mumbled as Jun heard him, "I'll make one for you."

"No it's alright, I'll cook by myself." Seokmin replied, "I'm not watching this anyways but you guys are intrigued, don't bother."

"Do you want me to accompany you?" Wonwoo asked and it was when a loud thud was heard.

Mingyu had dropped the box of snacks he was looking through or more like pretending to look through. He apologized quickly after which Seokmin left and Wonwoo felt a bit uneasy.

And that uneasiness didn't decrease because Mingyu was now glaring at the older without any pause. Wonwoo tried to ignore the constant gaze but Mingyu was making it more and more obvious. He didn't even care to tone down his annoyance.

I don't want to see you anymore

Wow, please turn around and go
To where it used to be
to a place where I wasn't

So, don't love me

"Do you want something, Mingyu?" Wonwoo decided to break the ice, "Can I help you with something?"

"You won't be able to." Mingyu blurted out earning a subtle smack from Joshua after which everyone's attention was on him. Now, he had to explain what he meant.

"Uh- I mean, I want that bottle." Mingyu pointed at the alcohol kept in front of Jeonghan, "And of course, Wonwoo hyung can't reach it."

"Here you go!" Jeonghan passed him the bottle and focused back on the screen.

"I think I'll pass out." Seungkwan mumbled, "I'm so sleepy I don't know why?"

"Come, I'll help you to walk to your room." Vernon held Seungkwan's hands and guided him.

"They're adorable." Hoshi chuckled after which his eyes unconsciously darted to Woozi who immediately looked away, "Fortunate too." He muttered beneath his breathe.

"He worked so hard to prepare everything so I think he got exhausted really quick." Minghao referred to Seungkwan, "Oh, and this boy too, my passionate fellows." He pointed at Dino who was leaning against his shoulder.

"But don't worry guys, we'll accompany you at least until the end of the movie." Jun laughed as he smoothly got a hold of Minghao's hands.

"Do you want to go to your room, Dino?" Jeonghan asked as he looked at his groggy eyes .

"Kinda." Dino rubbed his eyes, "I'm third wheeling anyways plus I'm tired."

Minghao smacked Dino's arms to which he sleepily growled while the others just laughed.

"I'll take you." Jeonghan stood up to which Minghao replied, "It's okay hyung, I'll help him."

"No, I'm fine unless there's a problem." Jeonghan walked towards them. Dino willingly spread out his arms for the older. Jeonghan chuckled and almost carried him to his room.

"Wow so now I've to compete Dino for hyung's affection?" Hoshi joked.

"Seungkwan too." Jun laughed.

"What do you mean by only Dino and Seungkwan?" Minghao grinned, "Get in the line Hoshi hyung, we're here too."

"Yeah why not." Hoshi gulped his drink. Joking and laughing was one thing and sitting in front of a particular someone but not being able to talk to him was other.

And Seungcheol's arm around Woozi's shoulder weren't helping him in any way.

Hoshi sighed in irritation which didn't go unnoticed by Woozi. He understood Hoshi was scoffing at him but didn't quite understand, why?

It was when Jeonghan came back after putting Dino to sleep. Hoshi said something to him to which both of them laughed.

Jeonghan caressed Hoshi's cheeks with the back of his palm to which Hoshi scrunched his nose and laughed again.

They were commenting about the ongoing movie within themselves and having a good time.

And now Woozi completely understood Hoshi's sigh because now he was feeling that way as well.

There was nothing new in Jeonghan and Hoshi interacting like that, they've always been like that. Woozi knew that they were only sharing a brotherly bond.

But again he wasn't feeling very good while watching them, just like Hoshi was getting annoyed within himself while witnessing him and Seungcheol.

Their eyes met and they almost got lost within themselves. What if everything was normal? They would have been sticking to each other, they wished.

But that wasn't the case. Even after being in the same room, they were miles apart.

There will only be more scars anyway
Fool me, say anything
I hate you
I

don't want to see it any more
I love you because I love you
I sent you because it wasn't enough

"Hoshi." Joshua nudged him, "I wanna drink some water."

"Then drink." Hoshi understood what the older wanted him to do.

"Fetch me some."

"Jeonghan hyung, this movie is interesting right?" Hoshi laughed as he ditched the older.

"Don't worry, I'll bring some." Jun offered.

"It's fine, I'll go have some." Joshua stood up because that's exactly what he wanted to do.

"Drink water, not alcohol." Seungcheol suddenly recalled their inside joke from years ago.

"Yeah put down your glass and then say this." Joshua retorted.

"I didn't even notice that we've only alcohol on the table in the name of drinks." Wonwoo remarked.

Seungcheol finally gathered the courage to look at Jeonghan. His last night's actions were still haunting him as he was sinking down in guilt. He wanted to apologise but he very well knew that it won't lead him anywhere. Plus, adding a drop of water in an ocean wouldn't cause any difference anyways.

But surprisingly, Jeonghan was already staring at the older. As soon as Seungcheol turned to his direction, he gestured him to go outside and himself stood up to leave. Seungcheol complied and left after a minute.

Hoshi looked at Mingyu, concerned about the two leaving alone while Mingyu assured him that it was their own matter, let them handle it.

Meanwhile, Joshua didn't wait to reach the kitchen. When he stepped in, he witnessed Seokmin who was almost done with cooking his ramen.

"Oh Shua hyung." Seokmin acknowledged, "Do you want some?"

"No, it's fine." Joshua nodded.

"I thought we could share, I think I cooked more than I needed." Seokmin transferred the noodles in the bowl.

"Want me to call Wonwoo?" Joshua cocked a brow.

Seokmin remained clueless, "Wonwoo hyung? Why?"

Joshua slowly walked towards the younger as he caged him between his arms and the countertop.

"I thought you liked his company way too much."

"Aren't we friends?" Seokmin found the older's behaviour strange, "Are you jealous or something?"

"Why would I get jealous?" Joshua looked away, "I know that you're mine anyways."

"That's exactly how a jealous person looks like." Seokmin chuckled, "Anyways, leave or if someone sees us, we would get in trouble."

"Don't worry, I've cast a spell. If anyone will approach the kitchen, I'll get a signal beforehand." Joshua replied, "For now, we're alone."

"That's- good." Seokmin hesitantly stated as Joshua still didn't look in a good mood, "Hyung, you need to calm down. You very well know that we're all just friends, you trust me right?"

Joshua abruptly kissed the younger for a brief moment, "I know but I can't help it. There's no excuse of me behaving this way but it's crazy how I can't sit with you, hold your hands or have fun without being careful about my surroundings. We can meet for only about an hour and it's- it's just overwhelming."

"It's fine hyung, we'll be fine someday." Seokmin held the older's hands, "Why don't you look at the positive side? Even after all of the ruckus, our bond is so strong that we're still together. If we can endure this then nothing can separate us."

"You're-" Joshua instantly backed away from the younger and scooted away as far as he could.

Seokmin didn't understand until Mingyu stepped in. He looked at both of them as he felt a weird awkwardness in the room.

"Shua hyung?" Mingyu called.

Joshua turned around with a small smile, "Uh yeah?"

"You wanted some water right?"

"Yeah, I was looking for it but I can't find-"

"It's kept there." Mingyu pointed at the table right beside him.

Seokmin tried to avoid the duo as he focused on his ramen but still he was looking at their movements from the side of his eye. He just wished that Mingyu wouldn't get suspicious of them. Everyone knew how close Joshua and Seokmin were before the rivalry thing happened.

"Thanks." Joshua picked up a bottle, "I was so busy looking for it here that I didn't even notice. Anyways, what happened, why are you here?"

"They sent me to bring some plates." Mingyu walked in as he gathered whatever he needed. Joshua didn't have any option so he left along with Mingyu.

Seokmin shrugged. It had been years, he was now used to these disruptions between his special moments with Joshua. But he still wished that someday this would come to an end.

No matter how optimistic he pretended to be to calm his partner, the uneasiness used to haunt him as well. Joshua was always by his side too whenever Seokmin would feel down but the inevitable truth of separation was too much for them to handle.

"What happened?" Seungcheol hesitantly asked as he walked through the garden where the younger was standing.

Jeonghan turned around, "Don't blame yourself for yesterday."

"Pardon?"

"You might find it funny and weird because I'm saying it." Jeonghan scoffed, "But last night, it wasn't your fault. My anxiety didn't rise because of anything that you said. So don't bother yourself."

"Then why did you react like that? What was the actual reason?" Seungcheol asked with concern.

"That's not something you should know." Jeonghan began to walk away, "Thanks for sparing me some time."

Seungcheol tightened his fists as he calmed himself, he was fed up, fed up of feeling like nothing each and every time. He grabbed the younger's wrists and pinned him against the wall as his eyes spoke nothing but fury.

"I'm so sick of it Jeonghan. I'm tired of being played by you every time." Seungcheol gritted his teeth, "Who do you think I am? Your puppet? First you call me as if you're going to discuss a very important matter and then you say this? What was it? A favour? Yoon Jeonghan wouldn't let anyone feel bad because of him? Do you really think that you're that kind?"

"The problem is not me Seungcheol, the problem is you and your high expectations." Jeonghan retorted the older's rage, "You get disappointed each time because you think so highly of yourself. I just wanted to clear a misunderstanding but I don't know how you perceived it."

"And? I listened to you right?" Seungcheol inched closer, "Then why can't you do the same? Why can't you let me clear the misunderstanding that occurred between us years ago."

Jeonghan inhaled a deep breath, "Do it. I'm listening, say."

Seungcheol composed himself, "I didn't do anything, someone framed me. I never betrayed you. I never asked my aunt to humiliate you. I never wanted you to end up in the punishment cell."

"Who framed you Seungcheol?" Jeonghan asked out of the blue.

"I don't know." Seungcheol stated the obvious.

"And?"

"Believe me."

"This is not how we clear misunderstandings." Jeonghan chuckled bitterly, "You're lying, just like you did years ago. Let me tell you how many loopholes your fake story has.

You said someone framed you, but you don't know who. You said you didn't want your aunt to do something like that to me but you never tried to stop her. You said you didn't want me to leave but you never tried to find me. You said you were innocent but you broke my heart not once, not twice but multiple times. Your actions don't comply with your words, never."

"But-"

"I could have died that day and you didn't care at all."

"Jeonghan, listen to me-"

"No you listen to me today." Jeonghan's eyes were getting teary, probably for the first time in front of Seungcheol since they had separated. He was actually very hurt and that was visible, today.

"You keep telling me how it's so hard for you when everyone is blaming you." Jeonghan continued, "But have you ever thought about me? How much it hurt me when I got to know that you were the one who played dirty? HOW MUCH I FUCKING LOVE YOU?! But still I can't bring myself to stand in front of you because it hurts, it hurts everytime I look at your damn face."

Jeonghan wiped his tears that threatened to fall, "Everytime I try to get back to normal, that day haunts me. Do you know how hard it is for me? I don't want to share my feelings with anyone but you. I crave your love, I miss your presence. I hate myself for hurting you. Trust me Seungcheol, you don't know how fucked up my life has always been. I JUST WANT TO DIE, MY LIFE IS SUFFOCATING THE HELL OUT OF ME!"

He grabbed Seungcheol's collars as he broke down against his chest, "But I can't. You're right, I'm weak, very weak. Go on, you can take advantage of that, I don't care. Just because you're suffering, doesn't mean everyone else is not. You don't know anything Seungcheol, you don't how much I went through. Do you know why? Because you were never by my side and I hate you for this, I'll always do."

"Jeonghan!" Seungcheol's unsteady voice let out as he embraced the younger as he consoled him, "We can fix everything. Trust me. I know I wasn't by your side no matter how much I wanted to but I'm willing to know everything and support you now! I'll never leave you, I promise, even if it costs my life."

Jeonghan gently broke the hug and chuckled sarcastically, "It's too late Seungcheol. As much as I want to stay in your arms forever , I can't. Some scars can never be healed. You weren't there when I needed you the most. You offered me this rivalry when all I needed was assurance and love. Tell me, didn't I have the right to be upset for whatever happened?"

"You did. You had all the rights." Seungcheol cupped the younger's cheeks as both of them let out their vulnerable sides.

"Then why didn't you try to fix things when I came back?" Jeonghan stared at the older blankly, "Why didn't you embrace me tightly and assure me that everything was alright? When I came back, I expected you to at least try but one conversation and you accepted to become my enemy. Taste your own medicine now. You need to experience how it feels when all your expectations and hopes are shattered by your own loved one."

Close your eyes, turn your back and walk away
There is nothing more painful than painful love
Please go back before more painful memories remain.

Longing and separation
Rather than meeting with only tears
It will hurt less

I lie again

A/n : This angst is not enough, it's still really very mild. I wanna go overboard like Seungkwan and Hoshi's team in game caterers.

The actual revelation will be here within 3-4 chapters, excited?

AND LEMME SHOW YOU SOMETHING  😭😭

Anyways, take care everyone!
