Meeting my team.. so far
When I opened my eyes, I was laying in a hospital bed in the medical ward of my base.i sat up and saw bandages coating my right arm, legs and my middle. I touched my face and felt the waterproof canvas of plasters on my jaw and left cheek. "Owww.." I groaned, laying back down and snuggling into the sheets that could almost class as warm and comforting.
I sighed and heard the door open. Be Chris please be Chris! Please please please be Chris!
"Hey Lyn." Said a far-too-familiar voice
"Kyle." I replied monotonously. For Gods sake, I wanted ONE THING. ONE!
I turned my head to the left and saw none other than that blond jerk of an ex partner in crime. Most women would go far enough to class him as 'dayyymn' but I just don't see it. A face doesn't make a man, in my opinion at least.
He looked at me with his moss coloured eyes that shone devilishly when he smiled and spoke smoothly, "so, you got beat pretty badly this time, eh?"
"I wouldn't say I got beat. He's the one with the bullet in his brain." I smirked cheekily, earning myself one in return.
"I suppose so."
"Hey Kyle?" I smiled innocently.
"I stand by my decision to not follow your advice."
"Awh, that's too bad. Just beyond the edge of the cliff and you were a match made in heaven."
He ran a tanned hand through his short cut, straight, dirty blond hair and sighed, "look, I'm sorry ok. Can you please just drop it." I shook my head.
"No dice. You left me stranded, Kyle. I could have died." I glared at him poisonously from the bed and he sat in the visitors chair.
"Evelyn, look——"
"—No Kyle, you look. 3 years we had each other's backs and then you just throw it away like it never mattered and left me for dead; I trusted you!"
"And i trusted you! Don't ever say it meant nothing!" He went silent for a moment and continued almost inaudibly, "when it came down to it, I thought you were dead either way. I wasn't about to throw away my own life too!"
I glared, "I ——"
"What's this racket?" Finally! Christopher strollers into the room only a little seriously and looked from me to Kyle.
"Took you long enough." I frowned at him.
"I was busy." He replied in a voice I could never get tired of. Ever.
"Yeah right!"
Kyle coughed, "you were saying something, Evelyn?"
"Only that I was bored of your dumbass face." I glared and Chris laughed, his lively ashen eyes twinkling slightly.
"Get wrecked." He grinned to Kyle, not grasping the situation. As always, Chris was the neutral peace keeper of our little trio and was friends with everyone automatically, 'it's a talent' he would say when I asked used to comment about it.
"Chrissy, can you come here for a sec?" I requested casually, shuffling to the edge of the bed.
"Sure, what is it?" He kneeled beside me and I punched him in the arm gently. "Oi!"
"Jackass!" I yelled. "Where were you?!"
He looked to Kyle helplessly and then at me apologetically, "me and Kyle ran into some trouble on the way.. sorry about that Eve. It won't happen again."
I sighed, "just be glad I'm alive right now or I would have haunted your ass until the day I got lonely."
"Hey, how come he gets let off the hook?!" The blond asked. As if it wasn't obvious!
My dark red-brown eyes hardened and stared at him harshly. "Simple. Chris didn't run away."
"Hey hey, lets not hold grudges. That was in the past, lets all move on. Ok? Evelyn?" He moved infront of Kyle and put a hand out to silence me, smiling nervously. I studied his face for a second, the strand of hair was hanging in his face again, curling up just above his right eye. I reached up and flicked the hickory coloured curl back to its scruffy brethren and smiled as he flinched slightly, "jeez, no need to make a big deal out of it."
Both boys appeared somewhat relieved and Kyles mouth twitched up into a one-sided smirk. "Hopefully, we might all get along now."
I smirked back, "I agree. At least until the ulterior motive is complete, then I'll be glad to not see your face again."
"Hey! My face is gorgeous!"
"Only as much as a pile of horse dung." I laughed.
Chris pinched one of Kyles cheeks and said jokily in a baby voice, "don't listen to her baby, your face is beautiful."
Kyle sarcastically pouted, "you mean it??"
"Of course I mean it." He patted Kyles head and then grinned evilly, "gimme a kiss, gorgeous!"
"Gah!" Kyle yelled and ran around the room, chased by Christopher. Meanwhile, I think I burst my stitches from laughing so hard. "Y-you guys! Stop being dumb!" I laughed.
Kyle stopped running and crouched down on the floor, using his hands to protect his head, "I give up! Let me go!" Chris stopped and laughed, leaning over with his hands on his knees to catch his breath, azure blue polo t-shirt exposing his muscular arms.
"Fine, only because your begging me though."
I fake-scowled, "I thought you loved me, Chrissy!"
He sighed, "I have a smooch for you too." He walked over and I squealed and hid beneath the sheets.
"Awh, am I really that bad of a kisser?"
We all laughed. And then he walked in...
