Cedrella let out a heavy sigh as she put on her ring once more before heading to the dining room for Dinner. Her older sisters were happy to have her back home, but she knew that they were acting a bit odd. Cedrella can see how they would stare at her and how the hug she received from them was not the same as last year. Her mother had not shown herself since she arrived which worried her to the tips of her toes. She could hear the shouts and arguments that her parents were having, although most of the yelling came from her mother.
Cedrella fixed the skirt of her dress and peaked inside the kitchen in where the house elves were cooking dinner.
"Mistress."
"It smells delicious." The house elves smile and thank her silently before sending her to the table. The table was already set with additional chairs that were for no other but her brothers in law.
"Drella!" She looks up and smiles as Harfang called out as he walked into the room. She grinned and gave him a hug before smiling at her sister.
"Seems like you came back." Callidora just smiled but said nothing else. Cheris was the last one to arrive with her fiance, Casper Crouch. Cedrella felt happy for her sisters as they sat at the table, waiting for their parents. She just wished that she was able to bring Septimus to these reunions without causing big of the scene. She knew her engagement announcement would cause an uproar already. When Lysandra and Arcturus walked towards the table, it took one look from her mother to keep her glued to her chair.
"Mother."
"Mrs.Black."
"Mr. Longbottom and Mr.Crouch, it's a pleasure into seeing you again." Lysandra smiled as she sat down. Her long nails tapped the wooden table. Cedrella put her hands down on her laps, not feeling ready to burst out in anger for her life. The elves served the food and the environment carried the heavy weight of Lysandra's silent anger. The only sound that filled the quiet home was the clink of the silverware as they came in contact with the plates.
"Cheris, can you pass the..." It was another glance at her mother that made her sentence stop mid-way. Her sister nodded and passed her the bowl before looking down and smiling at her fiance. It was the silence that had made Cedrella scoot her chair as far as possible and put her hand on the table.
"Ced."
"No! I can't hide it anymore." Lysandra stood up as Cedrella showed put her hand in front of her, the ring glistening in the light. "I am engaged."
"Ced.."
"The love of my life is not on this table because he is not accepted by my parents. I'm truly finished with trying to hide how much I love Septimus." Cedrella stood tall and very proud as she had finally confessed to her parents how much the blood traitor had meant for her. She was going to become a Weasley, and there was nothing that made her happier than the thought of being in a marriage with a man that offered her the entire world. She wanted her parents to be happy with who she chose to marry as they were with her sisters.
"You disgrace..." Her mother whispered. "I knew from the moment you came back. Never would I have thought that my daughter was going to end with someone worse than a muggle."
"How?"
"His name burned on the wall, the moment you accepted his proposal, Cedrella," Callidora whispered. "The same way Harfang's name did and the same way Casper's did."
"You knew as well?"
"We were just waiting to hear you say it" Cheris added as she tightly held Casper's hand. Arctcrus
"And how I wanted it to be wrong." Lysandra's voice boomed. She walked over her and grabbed her wrist before pulling her through the kitchen and into the room. Cedrella looked over at all the names, and how another branch had grown under the names of Callidora but mentioned nothing as she stepped into the room. It was the quick touch of her stomach that confirmed it all. Cedrella's eyes scanned the same section, where her name was next to Septimus Weasley. She smiled to herself as his face was now next to hers and waiting for other branches to be added.
"The pureblood line will continue if that is what you are worried about, mother."
"With a blood traitor!"
"Who loves me even though you and my father hate his family who has nothing wrong to any of you."
"They associate with others."
"And they are the same like you and me! Magic is the only trait that keeps all of us apart! Accept the idea that our kind will be associating with muggles, muggleborn and half-bloods as we grow older."
"My children.." Cedrella knew where her mother was going with the miniature speech. Never in her life would she think that her own daughters would have to be a disgrace to her family. It was never in Cedrella's plan to even fall in love with someone that she knew her parents would never accept.
"Well, I'm the one to break that, am I? I am in love with him. Why can't you be happy for me? The same way you are happy about Callidora and Cheris."
Lysandra withdrew her wand from the pocket of her robes and pointed right at Cedrella's hand.
"Mum!"
"Lysandra!"
"No! I will not let my daughter be the wife of..." Cedrella moved as her mother started to throw hexes in order to get rid of the ring that laid on her finger. Callidora and Cheris hid behind their father as their mother had officially entered a mad episode.
Cedrella expected no less, she knew that loving someone as Septimus would bring her own mother to turn her back to her. Arcturus was finally able to calm his wife down but felt the betrayal of his youngest just the same.
"You will betray your own family for love?" Cedrella looked around, her eyes landing at her name and the wand pointing at it. It hurt her deep down that it was her father who was now the one to make the drastic decision of disowning her instead of her mother.
"If this is what you call a family, I will go for love a hundred times over."
