Eighteen
Cory's P.O.V
I could've sworn I was running for an hour without stopping. I was in a town that I didn't recorgnise. My knees gave in and I curled up on the floor crying. My several friends were dead at the hands of the girl I've been crushing on since the day we met. Yet... I felt like her demons still cared for me. Every version of her still cared for me. And by every, I mean two. "Hey, Cory!" I heard someone shout. It was unfamiliar. I was about to ask how he knew my name, but I figured he must've heard of me. Frisk and I must've been more well-known than I thought. I looked up to see a boy with red hair. "Didn't know you were in these parts," he said.
"Sh-she's not h-her... I-I..."
"You need somewhere to stay?" The boy offered me a hand, and I took it.
"You aren't safe with me."
"Why?"
"Frisk... sh-she-"
"She killed my sister."
"WHAT?! Oh my God, I'm so sorry, I-I..."
The boy took my hand and dragged me through the town. It looked pretty nice, not too big, but not too small. After about five minutes we came up to a house. He dragged me inside. "Yet... she's alive again," the boy smiled.
A small girl was sitting on an armchair watching T.V with a boy wearing glasses. She looked a bit pale than most people I've seen, but not like Frisk. And her eyes were brown, not red. She munched happily on popcorn. I shook my head in disbelief. "That's Jess and Ross. I'm Max. You can stay with us for the night if you want," the red haired boy offered.
"But... what if she finds me? If Frisk finds me, she'll harm you too!"
"Stay here anyway. We've been longing for a challenge. We can help keep you safe. Safety in numbers, ya know?"
"Okay. Thank you, Max."
"Woah, is that THE Cory Dreamurr?" Ross asked, turning the T.V off.
Jess looked horrified. I slowly walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder. It was stone cold. "It's okay. I'm a human," I said.
"She looked like a human!" Jess exclaimed.
"Yes, she did. She fooled me too. But... she's still there. The real Frisk is still here."
"Here?"
"Well, not right now, but... I've found a way to communicate with her good spirit."
"Cool!"
I heard a whisper in my ear, but it wasn't Fraier. "I'm out on the hunt. I will find you, Cory. You can't run forever..."
There was a laugh, and the voice was gone. I knew it was Frisk. Then I felt that warmth again. "Cory, you must be careful."
'No dip, Sherlock. I'm being tracked down by a vampire!'
"No. It's not that. I fear that Frisk is getting stronger. Her power... it's far greater than what I imagined. She... she can channel dark magic that not even God knew existed."
'Okay, one, how do you know what God thinks? And two, doesn't God know about everything on this planet?'
"God and I have a connection, me being part of a soul. This magic is so... powerful that it managed to slip thtough to this planet. And whoever made Frisk a vampire still holds that magic."
'Shelby! Oh my word!'
"Cory, you alright? You spaced out," Ross said.
"Oh, I'm fine. But you said you all wanted a challenge?"
"Ye."
"Well, I got one. C'mon, we're going on a trip."
