A few minutes into the battle, we were holding on very well. However, the same could not be said after Damien started attacking Zephyr in combat. I was fighting off him too, with my dagger alongside Zephyr while Rosario made sure to hold the other vampires back alongside mother with the rest of our coven helping them.

"This won't do. He's too strong." Zephyr declared after a while, nearly exhausted.

No matter how much we tried to defend against his attacks, he stayed the same. The next attack was on me and I tried to dodge his blade, thus ending with me getting a cut on my shoulder.

"Irina! Are you alright?!" Zephyr shouted at me and I nodded with my teeth clenched together. Out of anger, I suddenly swung my dagger right at Damien and it hit him right on his lower abdomen, making him growl in anger and his eyes turn dark red.

"You! I'll kill you!" He shouted at me and swung his blade at me again. However, before it could reach me, it clashed with Zephyr's sword and the impact threw us a few steps back.

"Zephyr, the wound," I whispered to him and he glanced at it before nodding back at me.

"We have to be quick. It'll only take him about ten minutes or so, to heal." Zephyr told me and quickly dashed back at Damien, distracting him in a way so that I could hit his wound. I took my stance and charged at Damien, gripping the dagger tight in my right hand.

He swiftly turned towards me as he saw me coming but I slid myself behind him and stabbed him on the back.

"Agh!"

I regained my stance in a short second and stabbed his wound from the side, which made him fall to his knees with his hands clutching his abdomen. Zephyr stood by me and watched with a smirk as I stabbed him from the front repeatedly until he collapsed to the floor.

"No! This cannot..be..."

As the scene grew more vulgar, the rest of the vampires stood in horror as they saw their leader on the floor. Not too long after, all of them stood back and watched in a defeated stance.

I clenched my left fist together before turning to stab him again. However...

"Irina! Zephyr! You've got to get to Rosapast now!" Rosario told us in a strong voice which made us turn towards him.

"We'll take care of this. But you both have to go now!" He said again as he created a portal for us and we quickly nodded at him and the rest before entering the portal. Though some vampires tried to stop us, they soon gave away after one of them got struck by Rosario's powers which turned him into ash.

Within a minute, we reached the garden where Rosapast stood. But as we reached near, there stood a familiar young boy with a knife in his hand.

"Saffron?" I asked, wide-eyed.

He was the werewolf boy I had met at the mansion. The boy who had accidentally broken a glass and asked for my help.

"You're here, miss. I've been waiting for you." He exclaimed with a not-so-friendly smile.

"What are you doing here?" Zephyr asked him and his smile turned into a smirk.

"You're too pathetic, you know? Did you really think I am just a mere young boy?" He asked us back, smirking.

"Move," Zephyr said but he quickly shook his head.

"No, I won't. I won't let you save the rose." He exclaimed and pointed his knife towards us. I guessed that he could not transform yet as he was still in his childhood.

"Are you really going to stop us with that?" Zephyr asked in disbelief while I stood beside him with my dagger in hand.

"What if I said yes?" Saffron asked him back which made him frown in annoyance.

"Irina, you should go to her. I'll deal with him." Zephyr told me as I set out to run before the boy came in front of me in a swift move.

"I won't let you do that, miss." He declared and swung his knife at me before he was captured from behind by Zephyr. He tried frantically, to get away from his grip but failed. Zephyr took the knife from him and threw it away to the deeper part of the forest.

"It's pointless to struggle. Stay still." Zephyr said and tightened his hold on him.

"No! Let me go! My father will kill me!" He screamed.

"Your father, you say? Where is he then?" I asked him all of a sudden and he stopped moving to look at me.

"Huh?"

"Even if Zephyr doesn't have any intentions of killing you, he has captured his child and yet, I do not see your father coming for you here," I said firmly.

"What...are you saying?" He asked me, stuttering a little.

"Your father knew about the attack very well. We may not have kids but I can imagine the true feelings of a parent when losing their only child. If I were your father, I would never let my child go somewhere that I know is dangerous." Zephyr further explained and shared a small smile with me before turning to him again.

"I bet my former father would say the same," Zephyr said slowly, nodding to himself.

By then, the boy stood there without moving and having his head down, listening to every word of ours.

"I'll ask you again. Where is your father?" Zephyr asked him after a while and Saffron shook his head.

"I don't know... He left me here after the mansion went down. So I thought...If I killed the girl who father thought of as a hindrance, he'll come back and I'll get to stay with him." He said slowly, with his head down and Zephyr nodded to him.

"I see. But honestly, I think that he won't come back even if you do that. We'll take you with us once all this gets over." Zephyr said and let his grip loose before placing a hand on the boy's head.

"I'm so sorry," Saffron said and hugged him tightly, crying in his arms. I smiled to see the sight and slowly turned around after glancing at Zephyr.

'Go now.' He mouthed at me and I nodded before going to Rosapast.

When I finally reached her, the scene in front made me widen my eyes in shock. Rosapast was on the verge of dying.
