XXIV

Taehyung suggested that I sit down and rest a bit to regain some of my strength and I didn't argue.

"Since Alanna is stronger, how about a rematch Alpha?" Dakota said, smirking at Taehyung.

"Deal." Taehyung said as he smiled and they got ready to spar. Jungkook stood near them watching everything unfold.

It was only a matter of seconds before Taehyung had Dakota pinned under him. He let her go and you could see she was a little annoyed that she lost.

"Alright then, time to make it harder." She turned to Jungkook. "Join us."

"With pleasure." Jungkook said as he walked to the other side of Taehyung, facing his back while Dakota was facing his front. Both Jungkook and Dakota readied themselves, bending their knees a little and changing their normal smiling expressions into more serious ones. Taehyung moved his head between the two, waiting for the first attack. Jungkook moved first, trying to kick Taehyung who easily blocked it and then quickly turned and grabbed the fist that Dakota had tried to land to his ribs. This continued for only about 5 minutes.

At one point, Dakota had managed to climb on top of Taehyung's back wrapping her arms around his neck, cutting off his air. However, he easily pried her arms away from him and flipped her over his head, just like I had done so many times with Jungkook. With Dakota on the ground and Jungkook breathing heavily staring at Taehyung, the Alpha smiled.

"You guys need a break?" Taehyung said, smirking at them. It was amazing to see him fight off two of his best fighters and still look like he had more in him although I could tell he was a little tired.

I saw Dakota lying on the ground, panting, and lifting her arm up, put only her middle finger in the air. Taehyung laughed and walked over to her and helped her to her feet. I heard feet behind me and I turned to see Mika sit down next to me.

"Hey." I said as she sat down.

"Hey." She had this look on her face that made me immediately concerned.

"What's wrong?" I asked her.

"There are reports of multiple people missing from Clarmore." She said with a glum look and I knew exactly what that meant and the pit in my stomach started to grow. "They are growing stronger and it's only a matter of time before they find us." I nodded my head in agreement.

"Not unless we attack first." I said looking over at her as her gaze met mine. "We know that house; every entry, every hiding spot. We shouldn't wait for them to attack us, we should go after them." I said.

"I agree." I looked up and saw Taehyung along with Jungkook and Dakota. "We need to come up with a plan and fast." Taehyung said.

"I will get everyone together and we can bounce around ideas." She stood up and I did as well, but I grabbed her arm not letting her go.

"Hold on. I want to try something." Mika nodded and then I turned towards Dakota. "I need you too." I walked out to the middle of the front yard so we had more room. I kept thinking about what Jin and Taehyung said about the tide and the gravitational pull of my ability. I had a feeling I may be able to create an energy wave. I had Dakota and Mika stand on opposite sides of me and told them to use their ability. Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and pictured a wave moving away me out in a circle, encompassing Mika and Dakota. I felt my energy flow from both of my fingers tips and didn't look at either pack member so I could stay focused. I gave it everything I had, pushing as much as I could from my body in a giant wave when I heard the thunder and turned towards Mika who had created a dark storm cloud right over her that was continuously growing. Turning my gaze to the other side of me, Dakota was replicating the tower and stone wall she had tried to create earlier today. I looked forward and saw almost everyone from both packs standing in front of the house watching what was happening. Feeling a little awkward, I pulled back my energy and took a couple deep breaths to relax my heart that I didn't notice until now was beating very fast.

"The Luna has some new tricks." Grayson said crossing his arms and when I looked at him, he winked at me. I felt annoyed, but as soon as I saw the smiles on the faces of my pack members, the feeling faded into pride.

"We could use this. Your ability is amazing." Mika said as she approached me.

"Since I don't need to touch anyone, I figured I could help multiple at a time, just not sure how many." I said, still trying to catch my breath.

We gathered everyone into the living room and they all knew that things were not looking good. We all figured we didn't have a lot of time before we would need to fight again, but no one wanted to actually talk about it, until now. Mika was actually the first one to stand up and address the two packs.

"The Daeva are getting stronger as reports of more and more humans going missing are coming in. They are still hiding out in the Invicta Pack's house and Alanna brought up a good point this morning." When Mika said Invicta, I had lost focus for a minute trying to figure out what she meant, but then realized that each pack must have a name and our's was Invicta. I made a mental note to ask what James's pack name was as well as what in the world Invicta meant. I regained focus back to Mika. "If we attack, we have the upper hand. Invicta knows that house and we can come up with a plan."

"But how many men are there?" Grayson spoke up.

"That is the one thing we don't know." James answered.

"Well, let's find out." Andrea said and everyone turned towards her. "I can get close to the house and send in Adonis to scope the place out."

"By yourself?!" Myles shouted. When he realized his outburst, he quickly sat back, trying to disappear into the couch he was sitting on.

"How strong is your connection with your familiar?" I asked, taking away the attention from Myles.

"It's only about 50 yards. Not very long." Andrea responded with a concerned look.

"I'm sure I can help with that. Andrea and I can get close to the house to get a good look at the number of Daeva we are looking at." I said locking eyes with Andrea and she nodded in agreement.

"Like hell it's just going to be you two." Taehyng said looking at me with a glare.

"Fine, we can have a smaller group hang back about a mile away from us, just in case something happens." I said rolling my eyes and yet understanding his concern. "But we can't have a lot of people close to the house. We can't risk being seen." I said, looking back at him, hoping he would understand.

"I will volunteer to go and stay back a ways." Jin said, looking over at me.

"Me too." Hoseok joined.

"I'll join the ladies on their spy mission." Dakota said looking over at me.

"So we have Jin and Hoseok nearby, while myself, Andrea and Dakota check out the house?" I said, looking around at everyone.

"I'm coming as well," Taehyung said.

"Taehyung, I really need you here to figure out a plan of action." James said and Taehyung nodded towards him, but clearly not happy. There was a moment of silence in which no one really knew how to continue.

"Alright, then, we leave in 10?" I asked. "We need to get ahead of them." I looked around and saw everyone nod.

"I'll get Adonis ready." Andrea stood up and headed upstairs.

I noticed that not everyone started to disperse right away, but rather sat there, just thinking over things. It wasn't fear that I was seeing, but rather the realization that a fight was actually coming and it couldn't be prevented. As I was sitting there, looking over everyone, Taehyung walked over and stood in front of me. I stood up and he immediately started to walk towards the kitchen, in which I followed. Once we were alone he spoke.

"You know I don't like this." He said and I nodded, not knowing what to say. "It needs to be done though. I just wish I could be there with you." I reached out and grabbed his hand.

"It's going to be ok. We are just going to gather information and will be back before you know it." I tried my best to reassure him. He scoffed and put his head down.

"That's what happened the last time we headed there." The memory of waiting for them to come back hit me like a wave. They only went for intel and came back hurt and I started to worry a bit and then immediately pushed that thought away. We were only going to see how many men were at the house...our house!

"It's going to be ok. Jin will be just a mile away and it's only a small mouse heading into the house. If Dakota notices something, we will leave right away ok?" I moved my hands to his arms giving him a light squeeze. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me close to him. I could feel how worried and scared he was, but he knew this had to be done and he was proud that I was helping. I smiled knowing that he was actually proud of me. I looked up at him and when his eyes met mine, I kissed him. His lips moved against mine as he told me over and over how much he loved me. When I finally pulled away, I put a hand on his cheek and looked into his eyes.

"We will be back before dinner. I promise." I said in a very firm tone. He nodded and took a deep breath.

"Just be careful ok?" He said and I nodded. He kissed my lips and then we walked back towards the living room.

Jin and Dakota were waiting for everyone else to gather and once I arrived, Hoseok and Andrea were not far behind. Both packs wished up luck as we decided to drive most of the way to our old home since I couldn't shift. As I was about to get into the car, I heard someone call my name and turned to see Jungkook running towards me.

"I had been meaning to give you this." He said as he held up a small dagger that was sheathed in leather on a small belt. "This buckles around your thigh." I took it from him and looked over the intricate detail in the leather work. It was quite beautiful for a weapon. I looked up at him, a little confused as to why I was being given this. "I know you are strong, but you are still human. It's just something extra to protect yourself." I wrapped my arms around him, giving him a huge hug. Nothing else was said between us as he pulled away and walked towards the house, standing next to Taehyung on the porch.

The 3 hour car ride was silent as the tension was clearly there. Once we were close, Jin drove the car down a hidden road and parked.

"Dakota, you know where the house is from here." He turned back to face us ladies in the back. Dakota nodded and we exited the car.

"Stay hidden and if you don't feel safe at all, get out of there." Hoseok said.

"Got it boss." Dakota said and the three of us walked about a mile, getting close to our old home. We stayed quiet and kept our eyes open for any indication that the Daeva were also in the forest.

As we approached the edge of the treeline, Dakota took more of a lead to make sure we could find a safe place for Andrea and I.

"This looks like a good spot." Dakota said, stopping by a large tree. I could see the house through the trees and a couple outlines of figures, but we were still pretty far away which put my mind at ease. Andrea and I sat down while Dakota kept watch. Andrea reached into the light jacket she was wearing and when her hand became visible again, there was a small mouse in her palm. With her other hand, she reached out towards me.

"You know I don't need to touch anyone anymore right?" I asked her, but she only smiled.

"I know, but maybe it keeps the connection strong, plus it would honestly make me feel better." She said and I reached out and grasped her hand. She whispered something to the mouse and it took off. I watched as Andrea's eyes clouded over and then my own vision seemed to disappear as I started to see large branches on the forest floor. It didn't take me long to realize that I was sharing what Andrea was seeing through Adonis's eyes. I tried to focus as much energy as possible to Andrea while also seeing what she was seeing.

We were able to make out about 4 men on the perimeter of the house before Adonis slipped through a crack in the foundation and made his way into the basement. It was quiet and we didn't see anyone, until I noticed the room that I was held in when I accidently transported myself and Willa there. There were bodies lying on the ground, pale and lifeless with buckets lined up against the wall. I felt Andrea squeeze my hand tighter and then Adonis quickly moved up the stairs to the first floor. As he weaved through each room, an additional 5 men were found sitting throughout the main floor. There weren't many men on the 2nd floor and when Adonis headed back towards us, I quickly calculated that there were a total of 12 Daeve which included Euric. I let go of Andrea as Adonis climbed onto her shoulder.

"We good?" I asked Andrea and Dakota.

"Doesn't look like anyone noticed a thing." Dakota said. "Got the info we need?" Andrea nodded and we quietly stood up and headed back to the car.

When we arrived back to the car, the look of relief on Jin's and Hoseok's faces made me smile a bit. Everyone worries so much for the other that I was reminded once again how lucky I was to be a part of this amazing family.

"How's it looking?" Hoseok asked while Jin stepped forward and put his arms around Dakota, kissing her cheek.

"Looks like about 12 men with 4 posted around the perimeter." Andrea said. "We will be pretty evenly matched, but if we can take out the guys outside quietly, we would definitely have the advantage."

"Well then, let's head back so we can inform the Alphas. Hopefully they have some sort of plan worked out." Hoseok walked around to the other side of the car so Jin could drive while the rest of us got in the back.

The tension was no longer there as it seemed all went well.

"So what does Invicta mean?" I asked.

"Oh ya, that's our pack name." Dakota answered me. "It's latin for invincible. We wanted to be bulletproof, but the Council wouldn't allow that since it refers to a weapon." She rolled her eyes and I couldn't help, but to laugh a little.

"What is your pack's name?" I asked Andrea.

"Fortis. It means strong." She answered with a smile.

"Cool."

We made small talk the rest of the car ride back, avoiding talking about fighting. We wanted to enjoy some pleasant time together knowing that once we returned, we would plan and continue training.

When we arrived, most everyone ran outside to see if we were all ok. When we slowly exited the car with smiles on our faces, the concerned looks faded. Taehyung quickly walked towards me as I met him halfway. He pulled me close letting out a loud sigh.

"I told you it would be fine." I whispered. He chuckled and then pulled away, grabbing my hand as we all walked inside so we could inform them of what we learned.

Unknown POV

A male figure was crouched down in the treeline on the side of the road with strict orders to follow any vehicle that comes close to the house. He had been waiting all morning when finally, a car appeared and turned off on a hidden road into the forest. The man stayed hidden as he crossed the road and followed the car down the road.

Keeping to the shadows, the man watched as three women exit the car and head toward the house that he has been living in for the last few weeks. It took everything in him not to slit everyone's throat right then and there. Euric told him that the time would come, but not today.

There were two men who got out of the car and walked around a bit talking, but he couldn't hear what they were saying. He waited for them to walk away from the vehicle before he slowly walked out of his hiding spot and approached the back of the car, placing the device under the bumper.

Once his task was completed, he walked back into the treeline and kept quiet until he was sure he was out of earshot and then ran back to the house. When he arrived, he ran right to Euric's office, panting.

"It's done." He said and Euric smiled.

"Perfect. Let everyone know to start preparations." Euric said. "We have a goddess to summon."
