XIII

I was on the cold concrete floor, hand on my chest trying to breath. The image of seeing myself in front of the cave playing over and over in my head. How did he know about my dream and not just know it, but see it? It was exactly the same as how I saw it! The same dress, the forest, the open cave. I could hear shouts all around me, but they sounded more like an echo. My vision was blurry as I blinked trying to see straight. I felt hands on my face and tried to look at the image before me, trying to slow down my breathing. Slowly, the image became clear as I saw Taehyung kneeling in front of me talking to me with his hands on my face.

"Alanna? Are you ok? Can you hear me? Alanna?" He looked so scared and as I slowly started to focus on him, I could feel how scared he was. I reached up and placed my hands on top of his and slowly nodded. He pulled me towards him as his arms wrapped around my shoulder and my head laid on his chest. His heart was beating so fast.

"How did he see that?" I said quietly. Taehyung pulled my head away from his chest and held me in front of him. I stared into his eyes. "How?" Was all I managed to say. Taehyung looked just as confused as I did.

"I-I don't know." James came over and knelt down next to us, putting a hand on Taehyung's shoulder.

"Are you two ok?" He asked. We both nodded. "What happened?"

"Do you remember the dreams I told you about?" Taehyung asked and James nodded. "He somehow knew one of them. We saw the dream playing back in his head." James looked very confused and shocked.

"Anything else?"

"A name, Euric. That was all we got." Taehyung said.

"What about this prophecy? James, have you heard about this?" Grayson stepped forward.

"Prophecy?" I asked.

"He said the prophecy is real. When I asked what it was he said something about obtaining a blade and you need the woman in white, the Alpha's human." He looked at me nervously. I tried to look past Taehyung to see the man in the chair and noticed how lifeless he was.

"What happened?" I turned towards Grayson.

"Looks like suicide. Had something in his mouth but not sure why he waited till now. We got information out of him." He answered. I started to stand up and both Taehyung and James helped me up.

"You good?" Taehyung asked. I nodded.

"I just...need to get some air," I said as I walked towards the door. Taehyung started to follow me, but stopped once I turned towards him. "Alone, please." I could see that he wanted to protest and then felt bad that I didn't want him with me, but he agreed and let me walk out by myself. I made my way up the stairs and tried to remember how to get back outside. Thankfully it wasn't too difficult as I passed by the living room and walked down the hallway, keeping my head down. I opened the door and walked towards the Gazebo, but instead of turning towards the path to go into the Gazebo, I kept walking. I managed to reach the edge of the garden as it turned into a forest. I walked a little ways into the treeline and then stopped, placing a hand on a tree to steady myself. I tried to calm my breathing and ease my mind, but instead, I curled over and threw up. I felt hands pull my hair back and softly rub my back. When I finally felt a little better, I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and turned to face whoever had followed me.

"Why do I always catch you taking off into the forest?" Jungkook asked with a sad smile. I laughed a little and then leaned back against the tree. "You ok?"

I bit my lip as I looked up, trying to prevent the tears from falling. This was all just a little much for me. All of this seemed to involve me and Taehyung was going to keep it from me. Plus, people were getting hurt because of me. Why is this happening? Why is he not telling me everything? Maybe he doesn't want me in the pack after all because I seem to be the reason his family is getting attacked. I could feel my hands shaking and when I closed my eyes, the tears finally fell down my cheeks.

"Hey, hey, it's ok!" Jungkook grabbed my hands. I opened my eyes and looked at him shaking my head. He put a hand behind my head and pulled me towards him. I wrapped my arms around his waist and just cried. He held me close and didn't say anything, just let me cry.

"I shouldn't be here Jungkook." I said through my sobs.

"What do you mean?" He asked, not letting go of me.

"It's my fault you guys were attacked. It's my fault Jimin was shot. Taehyung is weak because of me. I just shouldn't be here." He put his hands on my shoulders and pulled me away so he was looking right at me.

"You know that's not true! They attacked because that's what they do and Jimin got hurt because they shot him." He reached up and whipped away the tears from my face. "Taehyung may not be at full strength right now, but he needs you, he wants you. He wouldn't shut up about you last night." I laughed through my tears and he pulled me to him again. "If you keep running away, I am going to keep chasing you and I don't think you can outrun a wolf." I squeezed him letting him know that I was thankful for what he said. He let go of me and motioned for me to sit down as he sat next to me. "Now, do you want to tell me what happened?"

I didn't know how much Taehyung had told everyone, but they would find out sooner or later. Plus, it felt good just to get it all off my chest. I told him about my dreams and the Daeva in the basement. The whole time he just listened, not interrupting and not reacting. I even told him that I was upset Taehyung was keeping some things from me and I didn't even know if he was going to tell me about the Daeva if Hosek hadn't brought me there. When I had spilled everything, he took a deep breath and I waited for all the questions he might have.

"Well, seems like you really need this party huh?" I rolled my eyes at him as I could tell that he was thinking about what to say next. "Taehyung is just worried about you. He wants to figure things himself first before dragging you into it."

"I've already been dragged into though!" I was getting frustrated.

"Alanna, he's scared." Jungkook said quietly. I looked towards him with a sad look. "He's afraid he's going to lose you before he even gets a chance to be yours." I remembered the guilt and fear Taehyung had the night of the attack. He felt terrible and broken and I told him that I was here for him. I knew he felt the same right now and where was I? Avoiding him.

"Did he tell you that?" I asked

"Of course not but that doesn't mean I couldn't figure it out. Last night, he kept saying how bad he felt for making you stay in that room and how the first thing in his mind when he heard them break in was you. Like I said, he's afraid he'll lose you." Jungkook said.

"For being the youngest in the pack, you sure say the smartest things." I reached over and wrapped my arms around him giving him a hug. "Thank you." I whispered to him as he kissed the side of my head.

"So what do you think this blade is?" He asked.

"I don't know. I have been trying to think about it. Prophecies are usually super old so it has to be something that is probably a part of their history maybe? Something that..." My eyes went wide and I remembered something. I quickly stood up and started running to the house. I heard Jungkook not far behind me. Once inside the house, I heard him ask me what I remembered, but ignored him trying to remember where James's office was. I turned down a hallway and there it was. I opened the door without knocking and saw James and Taehyung standing around the same table I had found them at before. Both Hosek and Grayson were there as well, standing off to the side. Mika was standing next to James. They all looked at me as I entered and walked over to James.

"Do you have a history book or story book? One that tells the story of how werewolves were made?" I asked frantically. James nodded and went to a bookshelf to find what I had requested. Taehyung walked over to me.

"What's going on?" He asked quietly. I motioned for him to give me a minute and I grabbed the book James handed over flipping through the pages. The book was older and still had a layer of dust on it. The pages were a lot stiffer than usual book pages are. FInding the right page I slammed the book down and pointed to a certain paragraph.

"There! I think that's the blade he was referring to." I stepped back as they read the section about the jealous brother receiving a blade to kill the beloved brother. James looked over to me with wide eyes.

"That makes sense. It's been said that the blade is fatal to any werewolf as it's made of silver and forged with wolfsbane oil." He started to grab a couple other books, flipping through them.

"But where is it now?" Asked Taehyung.

"No one knows. I don't think anyone thought it was actually real." James said as he put the books down, looking defeated. He turned to Mika. "We need to ask the Council for more help."

"Of course! They should have more information about human mates as well." Mika then looked over to me as well as James, but he looked hesitant in what he was about to say.

"Alanna, I hate to be so straightforward, but with everything that has happened and learning more about you...how sure are you that you are human?" The question caught me off guard, but I understood his curiosity. I had abilities, I was a mate to a werewolf. Me being human  just didn't fit the picture.

"To be honest, I'm not sure. I never met my parents, but nothing strange has ever happened to me until that dream with Selene." James nodded accepting my answer. "Plus, isn't this Daeva prophecy about a human? If I'm not human, then it's not about me and if it is about me...then I guess I'm human."

"There is a lot we don't know, but what we do know now is that the Daeva are trying to find the Cursed Blade. For now, let's just try to relax and wait until we hear more from the Council." James said as we all started to leave. Taehyung grabbed my hand and I was too slow to try to block what I was feeling. I was upset with him and worried about what all this meant for me, for us. He quickly pulled his hand away, but continued to walk out next to me. Jungkook was in front of us and once we were out of the office, I turned and walked to the living room. I glanced behind me and noticed that Jungkook and Taehyung were talking.

I saw that everyone else was mingling in the living room and moving back and forth to the kitchen as well.

"Hey Alanna! So nice you could finally join us." Dakota said walking over to me and putting an arm around my shoulders. "It's time to let loose. Let's get you a drink." She led me to the kitchen and as we walked through the hallway, we passed Jungkook and Taehyung who were still talking. Taehyung reached out and briefly touched my arm but it was enough that I could hear his voice in my head.

Meet me in the Gazebo, please.

His hand left my arm before I could reply, but I quickly looked back at him, seeing him try to plead with me, I nodded and then turned back to follow Dakota. We finally reached the kitchen and Dakota grabbed a drink and set it in front of me. Andrea, Kai, and Myles were in the kitchen as well and came over to hang out with us.

"So, does the new Luna know how to party?" Kai asked leaning against the counter that I was standing next to.

"Don't worry Kai. She may get drunk faster, but she's great to party with." Dakota said, raising her eyebrows at me.

"Ok good!" He took a drink of his beer. "So human huh?"

"Yup. Well, as far as I know." I took a drink as well.

"So how did you take it when you found out what we all are?" Andrea had come next to me and asked.

"Not well actually." I laughed a little. "I thought it was some elaborate prank until Jungkook shifted in front of me."

"Whoa!" Andrea said, trying not to choke on the alcohol she was trying to swallow.

"Ya, but I actually met him as a wolf first, not knowing anything. He was sweet so it was nice to see a familiar face, but weird when I realized that I was actually talking to a person when I thought I was talking to some random wolf who had no idea what I was saying." Everyone started to laugh.

"Come on, let's go get this party started." Myles said, grabbing Andrea's arm, heading out of the kitchen. Everyone started to follow and waited for me to join them.

"I'll be there soon." Dakota gave me a look. "I promise!" I gave her a smile and they all left. I then headed out towards the Gazebo, taking an extra drink with me. As I walked through the garden, seeing the Gazebo come into view, I saw a familiar figure pacing back and forth. I walked closer and he finally saw me once I stepped inside.

"Hey." I said as I held out the drink I grabbed for him.

"Thanks." He took it and immediately took a drink.

"You ok?" I asked.

"I should be asking you that." he said as he sat down on the bench.

"Well I beat you to it." I leaned against the railing on the opposite side of where Taehyung was. Taehyung looked up at me and our eyes met.

"You're mad at me." He said.

"I'm not mad at you Taehyung, I'm frustrated." I started pacing. "I asked you to talk to me and you are still keeping me away and not telling me everything."

"I am trying to protect you." He said firmly.

"I don't need protecting."

"Yes, you do!" I glared at him as he stood up. "You are living in a world you don't fully understand. Hell, I don't fully understand it right now. The Daeva are not to be messed with and now I find out that they are after you for you...not just because they are trying to get to me. This changes everything. So, yes, you do need protecting."

"I'm not some we-" I started.

"Weak human girl, I know." He rolled his eyes at me. "I'm sorry to say, but, right now, you are. You can't heal at a faster rate like we can. You can't shift into an animal that's fast and has sharp teeth. You don't have the training that we do." I turned around and looked out into the garden upset by his words, but knowing full well that he was right. He walked over and stood next to me, looking out.

"I know." I put my head down, but then turned towards him. "But I do have a right to know what's going on. You shouldn't be hiding things from me. I'm supposed to be your Luna." He smiled.

"I have been meaning to talk to you about that as well." He took a drink.

"Well, we are alone in a garden. What exactly do you want to talk about?" I asked. He looked at the ground for a bit and then met my eyes.

"I know that we have gone back and forth on this a lot. Talking about this mate connection that I have with you and it not being as strong for you so we are taking things slow and I will give you all the time you need, but I was hoping you could tell me what you have been thinking." He looked at me nervously.

"What do you mean what I have been thinking?" I asked. He took a minute before he answered me.

"Alanna, I want to be with you for many reasons. Yes, I feel this connection between us, but that's not just it. As I said before, you are beautiful, and I feel at ease when I'm around you. Then, everything you did for me last night and this morning made me realize just how amazing you truly are. I don't know if you were helping me because I was hurt or tired, but...you honestly are the perfect Luna and I wouldn't want anyone else by my side. That's what I am feeling. I want to know what you are feeling?" I swallowed hard digesting everything that he just said. I took a couple steps away from him, trying to gather my thoughts.

"I guess I'm a little confused." His eyes turned sad right away. "I didn't grow up knowing this mate connection and how relationships work between werewolves. For me, the world that I lived in, it takes a lot of time to get to know the other person and to grow your feelings for them which is messing with my head because the feelings I have for you seem too strong." I saw him look at me intensely. "It's not just this mate thing, but the fact that every time we touch, I know what you're thinking, what you're feeling and it's a lot to take in. It's terrifying and yet, comforting. It's been two weeks Taehyung. The feelings I have for you are too strong after just two damn weeks, it doesn't make sense to me!" I was starting to shout and get upset and he could see that. He slowly walked towards me and grabbed the drink out of my hand, setting mine and his down on the ground. He grabbed my hands and everything fused together once more. I knew he felt my confusion and frustration as well as the affection I had for him and I felt the love he had for me. I had to stop and pull away. Did I just feel love?

"I know it's scary Alanna and try to believe me when I say that I am scared too, but I promise that I will be honest with you from now on." He reached out again, but this time, to brush his fingers against my cheek. I melted into his touch, feeling safe with him. "I don't know if this is the same kind of love that humans feel, but I really am falling for you Alanna and I will wait as long as you need."

I reached my hand up to grab his hand and then brushed my fingers against his own cheek looking deep into his eyes as I slowly moved closer to him. My forehead touched his as I closed my eyes. My hand traveled to the nape of his neck as I felt his hands lightly touch my waist, holding onto me. He was sorry for keeping things from me and just wanted what was best for me.

"We are partners so please, tell me what's on your mind and everything that you are going through. You protect me and I will protect you." I told him as my lips gently brushed his. It was a gentle, but passionate kiss as he pulled me closer to him. We pulled away and let our forehead rest against each other once again. "So apparently there is this party tonight." I said as he started to laugh. He pulled away and looked at me with a big smile.

"Sounds like a fucking fantastic time." I smiled back and we walked into the house together.

A/N: who remembered where the dagger was from? I was wondering if anyone would remember their origin story ;)

Do you think Alanna is actually a human or something else?

I'm not when I will have the next update as I should be working on my other book and there are a couple details I need to figure out with this one. Hope everyone is healthy and happy!
