"Jack?" He came closer to me and then jumped onto me, putting his paws onto my shoulder. I wrapped my arms around him and dug my face into his fur.

"He really liked the jerky you gave him by the way." Hosek spoke up. I stood up, letting Jack, or Jungkook come back to the ground.

"So you all are wolves?" I looked to Hosek and then Willa who both nodded. "Ok, so why am I here?" Hosek motioned back to the table and we sat down. Willa joined us as well while Jungkook took off into the forest.

"Would you like to explain mates to her?" Hosek motioned to Willa.

"Werewolves are a lot like real wolves in that they mate for life except it's a little more involved than that. Each one of use has only one mate that we are destined to be with. We don't know who that person is until we come in close contact with them. Once we are close to them, the feeling is like an intense pull. You feel the need to be close to them all the time and you feel extremely protective towards them. It's basically a very strong love at first sight. We have two mated pairs here at the house. Myself with Yoongi and Jin with Dakota."

"So...you're married then?" Both Hosek and Willa smiled while shaking their heads.

"There is no need for a wedding. Our souls have been intertwined since the moment we were born. We didn't choose this like humans do with mariage."

"Didn't choose this? That sounds terrible."

"It's not though. It's really hard to describe the feeling because even though I didn't choose who my mate was, I finally felt whole once he found me. The love I have for Yoongi is real and I believe it's stronger than any human bond."

"Ok? So what does this have to do with me?" I saw Willa look over to Hosek with her head down and a blank look on her face.

"This is where it gets complicated." Hosek started looking at me with a serious expression. "Taehyung believes you are his mate." I stared back at Hosek.

"Who?" That was a name that I had not heard of before.

"Taehyung is the Alpha of our pack. The Alpha is the leader and typically one of the stronger wolves of the pack. I will explain the hierarchy at a later time."

"But I'm a human, not a wolf. How can I be a mate?" I held my head trying to wrap my mind around all this.

"It is very rare. Possible, but rare. It has happened only a couple times in the last thousand years and only with an Alpha."

"Why isn't he here telling me this? Why isn't he wanting to be around me and why don't I feel this supposed pull towards him like you said Willa?" I stood up and started pacing across the porch.

"Once you find your mate, you have a hard time focusing on other things. Being an Alpha requires a lot of attention. Taehyung has always been against the idea of mates as he says he needs to focus on the needs of the pack first. He is suppressing his feelings right now, but he was there in the cabin when you were attacked. He was the first one there actually. He felt your distress and heard your screams." I turned towards her.

"He was there?" I looked at Hosek giving him a confused look, but he just nodded his head. I tried thinking of all the people that were there that night. The only two I hadn't met from that night was the one who held my hand and carried me. "Does he have longer black hair?" Hosek nodded. "Where is he?"

"Like I said he is very busy and currently he is trying to figure out who the men were that attacked you last night."

"This is all just too crazy. I need to go home. I need to get to work."

"I'm sorry, but you won't be able to do that." My head shot up and glared at Hosek.

"And why not?"

"In order to protect you from whatever or whomever attacked you, you needed to disappear. According to the authorities of Clarmore, you died while hiking. They will piece everything together in the next couple of days."

"This can't be happening. This isn't happening. Everyone thinks I am dead?" I couldn't believe anything that I was being told. I was happy with my life and now it was all gone, just like that. I put my hand on my chest trying to breath

"Alanna, darling, everything is going to be ok. This is your home. We will take care of you." Wilma put her hands on my shoulders, trying to calm me down.

"What is going on out here?" I heard the low voice echo through my chest as the Alpha stepped onto the porch. Everyone froze and turned towards Taehyung. His eyes were piercing as he looked over at me. I felt this tightening in my chest as I looked back at him. I felt this need to reach out and touch him, but I kept to myself. His hair fell over his eyes just a little as it started to curl at the ends. He looked tired and frustrated and my heart started to ache for him. He looked right at me. "Come with me." He turned and walked back inside while I followed. He led me into the library that I had found earlier. He motioned to a table where I sat down. He walked over to a bookshelf and pulled out a couple books. He walked back to where I was sitting and placed the books in front of me. "I know you like to read so here is the history of our kind and our customs. I'll umm be in my office which is the next room over. Come find me when you're done." He turned and walked towards the door, but I called out to him.

"Taehyung." I didn't know exactly what to say to him, but I didn't want him to leave just yet. He stopped and turned around waiting for me to continue. "Umm thanks...for, last night." He simply nodded and then walked out of the library, closing the door behind him.

I grabbed the first book I saw which looked extremely old and had a picture of the moon on the front. Carefully turning the pages, I read:

The story of our kind has been passed down from generation to generation so that we may not forget who we are and who we come from. Our history is that of a love between a goddess and a human. Selene, the moon goddess, grew fond of a human who she looked upon every night. He was a lonely man who would stare at the moon, admiring the beauty. This man had a brother who also looked upon the moon with glistening eyes, but Selene only had love for one brother as she could see the true intentions of their hearts. Wanting to be closer to the beloved brother, she came to Earth to meet him face to face in her human form. The man fell in love with her beauty, but most importantly, her soul. So that they might have more time together, Selene bestowed a gift upon the man. This gift would give him incredible speed, strength, and a longer life. This was the gift of lycanism, or being a werewolf. Even though she was a goddess, Selene only had the power to visit her beloved when the moon was the fullest. 

For many moons the beloved brother and the goddess would meet, but she saw how lonely he still was. He brought his closest friends to her whom she also bestowed her gift upon them. They became the first werewolf pack. The jealous brother was filled with rage that he was not chosen by Selene nor to be in the pack. It is said that he made a pact with an evil entity so that he may be able to kill the beloved brother. The entity forged a blade that would be able to pierce the skin of a werewolf, rendering it unable to heal as well. The jealous brother was also given a skill ability to make him stronger and unseen by the pack. 

That full moon night, the jealous brother snuck into their camp and killed his brother. When Selene discovered that her beloved was killed, she wept. The pack gathered around her to comfort as the beautiful full moon turned blood red. Selene used the last of her power to bestow special abilities to the rest of the members of the pack. She instructed them to watch over all humans and protect them evil, especially the jealous brother and those he may associate with. She told each of them that they would never be lonely, and a mate would be destined to live by their side until they passed. Extremely weakened and heartbroken, Selene returned to the sky.

Every five years, we remember the sacrifice of Selene's power to her first pack and we celebrate with heightened senses and strong pack's. The symbol of her love and heartbreak is a ruby moon, a Blood Moon. The bond between mates is strongest at this time as well.

Werewolves now live among other supernatural creatures living in packs and trying to protect the human world. They are led by an Alpha who is dedicated to the members of his pack in keeping them safe and happy.

Mates

There is always a counterpart for each werewolf to complete their soul, a mate. No one knows who their mate is until they are near them. The pull between mates is undeniable as both werewolves feel the painful need to always be near each other. It is mentally, emotionally, and sometimes physically painful to be away from your mate.However, the pain lessens when each mate has been marked. This can only happen under the light of a full moon and if both mates consent. A wolf can live on if their mate dies, but they are often driven mad from the loss.

There are old stories of werewolves having humans for a mate. It is said that every few thousand years or so, Selene chooses an Alpha to have a human mate to remind them of the connection between the races and to continue that balance of life. Mating between a human and a werewolf is difficult and records have been lost on successful relationships between a human and a werewolf.

Daeva

Daeva are descendants of the jealous brother whose only goal is to rid the world of other supernatural creatures, especially werewolves. They look and act just like humans, but have special abilities and are hell bent on revenge and violence with promises of praise and treasure in the afterlife.

Pack Hierarchy

Alpha - the leader of the pack, typically male Is chosen passed on family bloodline or challenge. The Alpha tends to be the strongest wolf in the pack and is heavily respected.

Luna - Alpha's mate, typically female. The Luna is just as respected by the pack as the Alpha is. She is his partner and 2nd in command is the Alpha is away.

Beta - Alpha's right-hand man. The beta is the third in command if both Alpha and Luna are away.

Delta - The Delta is often the trainer for the pack and helps the Beta where need be. The Delta is fourth in the command chain

Zeta - lead warrior for the pack. They are the ones leading any fights that may occur

Eta - warriors. They follow the Zeta

Kappa - Lead hunter. The Kappa leads the charge for hunting.

Zi - other hunters

Theta - While it is not a very common position, the Zeta is the pack's healer. Some are trained in medicine while others have special abilities, granting them the position of Theta.

My mind was spinning trying to process all this information. I felt like I had more questions than answers, but I knew I would learn more as the days went by. Taehyung told me to come find him when I was done, so I closed the books and headed to his office. I walked to the door that was next to the library and knocked.

"Come in." I opened the door and saw Taehyung sitting at a large desk that was off to the side. He didn't look up and until I was about right in front of him. "Oh Alanna, finished already?" He stood up and waited for my response.

"Yes, I'm a fast reader. I have a lot of questions, but I guess my first one is could you tell me the roles of each member here." He was intimidating and I knew he could sense the nervousness in my voice. He walked around from behind his desk and sat in a chair that was next to a small table and a couple other chairs. I sat down in a chair next to him. "So you have the Alpha that's me then next in line is the Luna which is supposedly the Alpha's mate." He briefly glanced at me and then quickly moved on. "The Beta who is my right hand man is Hosek. Delta is Namjoon. Our Eta's are Jimin and Dakota with the Zeta being Jungkook. Willa is a Zi with our Kappa, lead hunter, being Yoongi. Finally, we have our Theta being obviously Jin. Questions about those?"

"Kind of. I read that special abilities are given to wolves. I know that Jin has the ability to heal, but are there other members who have abilities." He nodded and answered.

"Yes, all out female wolves have abilities. Dakota can create illusions, make you see things that aren't really there. Willa can teleport herself wherever she pretty much wants and I can manipulate the mind." I furrowed my brow at him.

"Manipulate minds? Like how?"

"It's hard to explain and even I am still learning my full capabilities but when I touch someone, I can pull information and memories from their head. I can feel their emotions as well as place thoughts and emotions in their head."

"Wow. That's umm pretty powerful."

"Yup. Anymore questions." I could tell he didn't seem interested in talking to me.

"Just one more for now. What is my part in all of this?" He cleared his throat and sat up a little more in his chair.

"You are my mate and this pack's Luna. When the moon is full in a couple weeks, I will officially mark you, sealing our bond. Your part is to obey what I say and assist the members of the pack with whatever they want." His gaze was cold as he attempted to command me.

"Ah no." I pursed my lips together, glaring back at him.

"No?" He was shocked and pissed at my response.

"You told me to read the books and so I did. The role of Luna is not to obey her Alpha, but she is a partner to him and the rest of the pack respect her just as much as they do the Alpha." I stood up and started to walk out of the room, but turned around. "Also, you can't mark me unless I allow it."

"So you're rejecting me?" He stood up and faced me, fists clenched.

"Not yet." I crossed my arms and stood my ground.

"Well what are you going to do? Go back to your small, shitty town, where everyone believes you're dead?" He spat out at me.

"I-I don't know, but why should I stay here?"

"I saved you!" He angrily pointed towards me

"Jin saved me! Willa welcomed me. Hosek explained things to me. What have you done? You killed me, you took my life away from me!" I yelled at him and I saw his face get red and he stepped closer to me.

"I gave you a life!" He screamed back at me. "This is your home now. This family belongs to you. What life did you have before me? A dead-end job? Tiny home? Loneliness?" He slowly took a couple more steps towards me and then lowered his voice. "You were no one before I brought you here and now you are the Luna of one of the strongest Alpha's in the world." I scoffed and looked around the room, not believing what was coming out of his mouth!

"I may have been no one, but I was free. I wasn't forced to love someone that I had never met. Hell, this isn't even love! It's an animalistic instinct that I want no part of."

"I didn't ask for this! I'm stuck in this just as much as you are. Trust me, I wish I never saw you on your porch from the treeline. I should have never got close to you at the library. You're just a weak human girl." I saw the snarl in his lip as he wanted his words to hurt me. Two can play at that game Taehyung.

"And you're a monster..." I responded in almost a whisper, but I know that the words would sting. He stared at me for the longest time before pointing to the door.

"Get out."

"Gladly" I stormed out of the room and walked right to the front door opening it and then slamming it behind me. I didn't have any shoes on, but I had walked around the forest barefoot before so I wasn't bothered. I could feel my face heating up and I know it was red from how angry I was. My nails were digging into my palms as I clenched my fist tight, storming into the treeline, farther from my supposed home. The dried leaves softly crunched under my bare feet as the mud oozed between my toes. The forest floor was a little cold as my feet started to become numb. I finally stopped and leaned up against a tree and screamed as loud as I could, letting all the anger I had out. What followed were tears. I sobbed for the life I had and for the unknown life that I was forced into. My knees gave out as I fell to the ground. Taehyung was right; I wasn't going to go back to Clarmore. What was I supposed to do now? Be forced into a crazy relationship because some moon goddess intertwined our souls? He doesn't even like me or know me. I felt a hand on my shoulder as I looked to see Jungkook kneeling in front of me.
