34. Bird By The Window
Bird by the window of the backyard,
An angel sent from the pure lands,
With the spirit of an unruly child.
Underwent the trough of isolation,
Loneliness, lack of will to move on,
A prayer feeble to bring company.
There comes an unruly bird,
First knocking at the glass
Of the backyard window.
Getting my attention when I,
Look at the bird quite common
Tilting its head left to right.
A smile framed, bagged eyes,
The bird knocking over and over
Watching over me.
When I was left alone at home,
Others out to work while I
Prepare to join their flock.
A remembrance of my mother,
How she would check on me
Whether I prepared for the tide.
The angel came by everyday,
Eventually curing my thirst
For company since ages.
I knew, I knew, the bird was
An angel sent by my mother
To watch over me as she worked.
Author's note:
This poem describes a depressive epsiode of the poet when they were preparing for an exam. The poet's mother used to leave the home for work and that made the poet feel lonelier. Already isolated from the world, in order to join the work her mother pursues, it was getting depressive to a point.
When there was no one, there was a bird in the month of for March, as if God listened to the poet's prayer of having a company. Slowly the poet recovered and found company with their sibling and mother.
Pretty much it is. I had to register that bird in my book, I guess she still comes but not in the way by knocking on the window. But that bird, was one of the things that kept me going when I thought it was my breaking point.
