chapter 5- tearing of the string
"No! What? What does this mean?!" The demon now went from his relaxed state of mind to a hectic one, digging through countless drawers that lined the walls of his oval office. One arm was busy supporting him while the other three went through scrolls and scrolls of demon text, throwing each away as his eyes glanced upon it.
"What is wrong with you now?" Tom asked, annoyed at his sudden erratic behaviour. He is going to have to have this demon sent away before he becomes even more crazy.
"Me! Nothing is wrong with me! This paper, that's what is wrong here!" He said as he threw the red paper into Tom's face. Tom read through the paper, some things making sense, some not so much.
"Ok, and what is so frightening on this paper? Honestly it looks like a poorly written fanfiction." Tom just shrugged and threw the paper on the desk carelessly.
The demon was in front of Tom in a matter of seconds, shoving the paper back into Tom's hands.
"Why do you have to be so ignorant?! Everything in here is written in demon texts! That book is specifficaly made to write in that text, and only in white!" He exclaimed loudly as he slammed his hand on the book cover.
"And yet, look at the last two words on the paper!"
Indeed, there was something off there. Words, too late, written in thick black ink, in English.
"Ok, I still don't see the issue here. You yourself said that the book malfunctions." Tom, still confused by the demon, stated as a matter-o-factly.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME, YOU DUMB PRINCE?! THIS MALFUCTION IS EQUAL TO A WARNICORN SUDDENLY STANDING UP ON TWO HOOVES AND SINGING STUMP DAY CAROLS! IT DOES NOT HAPPEN, EVER!" The demon screamed bloody murder as he stomped through his office, away from Tom.
Tom just closed his mouth shut and sat back down on the chair. Why is this frustrating the demon so much, is what Tom couldn't comprehend. He even forgot why he came here.
"Found it!" The demon shouted in victory as he pulled out a thick brown book from a creaky shelf way up high. Jumping down, he lifted the giant book above his head and slammed it on his desk. Tom looked at the cover briefly before asking in disbelief:
"You have a manual for a book?"
"Yeah, so what?" The demon snapped back as he opened the large book, and skipped to page 367. He followed the text closely with his finger passing over the lines of text slowly.
Once he finished 2 pages, he slammed the book shut and let out a piercing demon shriek; the servant call.
Soon enough, two demons, both buff, and another thin one ran into the office.
"You called, your horrendous Excellancy!"
"Take it." He shoved the paper in the thin demon's hands, and the photos in Tom's.
"Take the prince, AND TEAR THEIR BOND APART! I DON'T WANT THEM TO BE IN THE SAME KINGDOM, LET ALONE NEAR EACH OTHER! GET RID OF MARCO DIAZ RIGHT NOW!" He yelled at all four of them as they ran out of the office quickly.
In the castle
"So I was thinking. Our first project should be road building." Marco mentioned to Star as they walked back to the castle.
"Road building? Why?" Star asked as she stared at the large dome on her castle.
"Because, mud has a lot of bacteria in it. Your people get sick easily and die easily. Plus, they would be more tidy. We just need to lay down some stones, no biggie." Marco continued.
"Hmmm... It definetly is a plan. But I don't think it's a priority." Star mumbled.
"What? How? It's a sanitary need!" Marco protested, while Star just sighed. As they stepped over the back door Star knocked down a little while ago, Marco became more pushy.
"C'mon Star, what's more important than your people?"
"Look Marco, I wanna fix the castle, the town and find my mom before I do any...work? Tom?"
Star and Marco now stood still at the entrance to the throne, staring at Tom with eyes wide. Tom was sitting on the throne, legs crossed and half of his face shadowed, while the other part showed a cold hard expression. On either side of him were the two buff demons, arms crossed over their broad chests.
"Hi Star. Marco." Tom replied after a good second of awkward silence.
"Tom? What's the meaning of this?"
"Hey, Tom."
Tom stood up slowly, and walked down the stairs leading to the throne.
"I am here to end this cheating cycle, once and for all."
"Cheating??? Nobody is cheating on you!" Both shouted in unison, but to no avail. Tom wouldn't listen to reason.
"YOU STILL CONTINUE TO LIE TO ME! I KEEP EXPECTING MORE FROM YOU AND KEEP GETTING DISAPPOINTED!" Tom shouted as his eyes turned blood red, boiling with anger. He stomped back to the throne, back turned to them.
"Split them apart!"
"Wha-" But Star didn't have time to finish her sentence, as suddenly both Marco and her were pulled away from each other by the two buff demons. Star immediately grabbed Marco's hand, using her immense strength to hold on tight.
"MARCO! DON'T LET GO!"
"I NEVER WILL, STAR!"
"ENOUGH OF THIS!" Tom stomped his way back to them, and with a strong tug, broken Star's grip.
And then, a picture materialized in Star and Marco's brain; a red, thin ribbon, tightening and tearing at the seams. And then, it broke.
"...MARCOOOO!!!!"
"STAAAAAAAR!!!!"
Red fire filled the room, horrifying flames exploded and left traces on the ceiling, walls, and pillars. Tom, taken aback by this, soon recovered and shouted:
"Look, Star! Look around you! Look what he does to you!!! Take him away!!!"
Star's screams of agony were the last thing Marco heard before being dragged into a carriage which soon took off at high speed.
"Star! No! Turn around, she needs me! Please!"
That was the last thing Marco said before passing out, from a blow he received directly to the head. The thin demon wore a sour expression as he said:
"Don't worry little human, we are taking you to a safe place, far away from here. I promise."
