chapter 3- a mistake.
"What do you mean, Madness?! The only mad thing here is you!!!" Tom shouted, eyes glowing in anger. The demon twirled on the back of his heels, and chuckled.
"Guilty as charged, Prince."
Tom paced around the small room in a haste, digesting the demon's words, while the demon just idly stood by, counting the dust particles in the air. Tom finally stopped and anxiously blabbered out:
"Moon?! What moon?! Star's mom? Why would she ever choose two of the same kind? Why would she even choose anyone, and what for?!"
The demon nodded his head, one of his hands grasping his chin as if he is listening to a magnificent speech. He took a bowl from a shelf behind him and put a cloth over it.
" I see the problem. You are an idiot. And a really big one at that." He said as he poured something that looked like regular old water through the cloth, but never making the fabric wet.
"WHAT?! HOW DARE YOU?!" Tom stomped right up to the unimpressed demon.
"Oh, put your crown down, Hornhead! You know you can't harm me."
"Unfortunetly." Tom mumbled loud enough for him to hear.
The demon just ignored Tom's reply, and pulled him closer to the bowl.
"Think a little, idiot! What would a plain Queen need two of different kinds of creatures for? I'm talking about something else, my boy."
The demon removed the cloth, to show a reflection of a full white moon, even though there was none in the sky.
"That Moon? What can a celestial body choose?! Make some sense already!" Tom demanded in an angry voice.
The demon just chuckled, and stirred the water with one of his long, crusty fingers.
"Indeed, this moon is mysterious, but can't choose 2 souls. However, this one can." The demon extended one of his arms, the hand at the end of it just above the bowl. He clenched his fists, long fingernails digging into his palm, drawing blood immediately. As the crimson red liquid dripped down into the water, staining it, Tom finally clicked.
The Blood Moon!
"But, the Blood Moon is just...Just a fairytale! A harmless story!" Tom's anger morphed into confusion as he remembered the ball that happened a long time ago. The demon broke into giggling fits as he licked his palm clean.
"If it wasn't real, that human wouldn't have glowing crescent moons on his cheeks, now would he? Think, Tom. These two were chosen for many reasons. From the look on your face, you know these two, you are even dating the princess if I'm not mistaken. These two are quite compatible, right?"
Tom grit his teeth and shut his eyes, his fists clenched by his side.
"Yes, yes they are."
" I'm guessing very compatible, from your reaction."
"Almost inseperable. Leave it, and explain why is this happening." Tom said with seething anger in his undertone.
The demon nodded slowly, as he pulled out a book from under his desk.
"What are their names?"
"Star Butterfly and Marco Diaz."
" Hm, Star and Marco...Starco..." the demon dabbed a tip of a feather into dark red ink, and started writing down stuff on a piece of paper.
"Starco? What?"
"Nevermind, Tom. Next; species. Star is pure mewman, right?"
"Yeah."
"And Marco is a pure human?" Without thinking, Tom replied:
"Obviously."
"Same age?"
"Yes."
"Main personality traits?"
"Star is a dominant, fighting spirit, not afraid to take risks." Tom smiled a little at his words. In his eyes, Star was made of gold, even if they've just had a fight.
"And Marco?"
"Marco is a worry-wrot, panicky person with a simple mind and weird battle tactics." Tom replied, feeling pain deep down when talking about Marco.
"I see. Yes, let me put this in my manuscript, then we'll talk." The demon opened a dark red book, with a blood red diamond in the middle of the cover. He opened it on the middle, where the pages were almost blank, only words on them being: insert here.
The demon put his scribbled paper together with the photos into the book, and closed it. The book started to make sounds similar to a printer, so Tom asked curiously: "What is it doing?"
"Searching for data. Although I don't know if it will work."
"Why not?"
"Because this old piece of junk is starting to malfunction. I swear, soon enough she will only be good for butt pictures." The demon grumbled as he knocked on the top of the book impatiently. The book, with a few grumbles, finished after a good 2 minutes of awkward silence.
The demon opened the book to take out a piece of red paper with red straight lines across it.
"Right, words should start appearing in a minute or two. Now, we gotta purge your little mind from all the nonsense your parents poured into your brain, young prince."
The demon slid an old chair to Tom, which he sat on, and looked at the priest with an indifferent look. The priest didn't choose to sit, instead he just used 2 of his long arms for support while he folded his legs in the air, Buddha style. He cleared his throat and began:
"First things first, the Blood Moon is not some dainty little ball you young little tadpoles get to dance at, and it is not a pure spell. By the look on your face you don't even know what I'm talking about." The demon chuckled to himself.
" Ok, let's simplify this; 99.8% of all spells and curses are pure, they are of one type with abilities characteristic with that type, for example Warnicorn stampede. But there were a set of spells and curses that weren't pure. Now, no one worries with them since they self-destruct before you can even begin to chant them, but in that batch of rotten apples there was the Blood Moon spell, or if you would like to hear its full name, Blood Moon, End of All Beginnings. How the Blood Moon started, no one knows, but it was made by someone from either Mewni, or Earth. It's a spell of love, but not just love. It is meant to bring two of different kin together, preferably from different kingdoms. A spell of deep love and peace, but a spell of Madness too! Because you see, if the spell doesn't complete its task of bonding 2 souls with the strongest bond ever known, terrible things might happen." The demon's voice became more formal and sinister through the speech, which made Tom nervous. He gulped and asked:
"What terrible things?"
"Oh, no one knows! After the first kiss, the Moon never failed!" The demon's voice went back to its cheery tone as he hopped to the red paper, that now had white words written on it. He read each world carefully, mouthing each letter that his white eyes passed over.
However, soon he stopped, his eyes focused on the only two words on the paper written in black.
Too late.
