23. ** Debriefing **

"Come in," Erwin said after Levi knocked on the door to the Commander's office. I had to admit, Orvud's Military Police headquarters were definitely nicer than anything the Survey Corps ever had. When we entered the room, I was halfway blinded by the sunlight pouring in through the giant window panes behind Erwin's desk. The decor was sophisticated and, much to Levi's approval, extremely well organized without a speck of dust to be seen.

Taking a seat next to Levi, I sat down in one of the two high-backed leather armchairs placed before the large, elaborate mahogany desk. It was still a painful sight to see one of the Commander's shirt sleeves hanging loosely from his shoulder, void of an arm to fill it. However, I couldn't help but smile back at him as he greeted us warmly.

"It's good to see you, (Y/N). I was relieved when I heard that Captain Levi found you. However, I must apologize in advance for how quickly we must debrief you. I'm sure Levi filled you in on this afternoon's schedule?"

"I assume you are referring to Historia, Sir?" I confirmed politely.

Erwin nodded. "Yes. The preparations are already underway for her Royal Crowning Ceremony in town today. Therefore, we have quite a bit of ground to cover before we need to change into our formal uniforms; Our attendance is mandatory, of course. So, let's get started on this debrief, shall we?"

"Yessir, Commander."

As Erwin struggled to open the case full of confidential files, I noticed Levi shift uneasily in his chair. With one hand, Erwin combed through the stack of folders to find the correct document. My eyes fell on Levi's hands, which were balled into tight fists.

"Seriously, Erwin. Just let me do it," Levi grumbled, visibly frustrated by Erwin's strife. He only smiled calmly, acknowledging Levi's offer in silence, until he withdrew the sheet for which he was searching.

"I am finding that I must be more patient with myself lately. Losing an arm is unfortunate, yes, but I am still alive, so complaining would be foolish of me... Now, (Y/N), let us discuss the events that have transpired since your abduction."

With a nervous gulp, I listened closely to the report as Erwin read it aloud. He was right, there was a lot to cover. From The Reeves Company to Rod Reiss, from the loss of life to those who survived, and everything involving Eren's new armor ability, I etched it all into my brain. My heart swelled when Erwin informed me of Historia's brave idea to deliver the killing blow to her father's titan. She really had matured in her strength. When Erwin placed the report back into the file, he withdrew a blank sheet and quill, before lifting his eyes to meet mine.

"If you would, (Y/N)..."

Taking in a deep breath, I glanced over to find Levi leaning forward in his chair, ready to hear my personal statement. Pursing my lips together, I recounted the events of my capture by Kenny's Squad. However, when I reached the moment of Kenny's deduction for the cause of my rapidly healing wounds, I paused and bit my lip.

"(Y/N), it's alright. I understand we are rushing you, but if you need to take a moment to gather your thoughts, please do so," Erwin said, noticing the obvious tension building within my stature. Levi reached over and gently took my hand, reminding me that he was there to support me. I didn't want to withhold pertinent information from my report, but I wasn't ready to announce my pregnancy to Levi either, or to anyone for that matter. Hell, I wouldn't have even known if it weren't for Kenny telling me. So, lowering my head and giving Levi's hand a squeeze, I made the difficult decision to continue to keep it a secret.

"Commander, what I'm about to tell you came straight from Kenny's mouth, and after everything that happened, I believe it to be the truth. It is why Viktor was so possessive of me and explains why I have been able to heal so quickly..." Turning to Levi, I pushed down the lump in my throat and sighed.

"I am the last known living descendant of an ancient bloodline known as the Sandrine Clan, once thought to be extinct. Apparently, it was discovered that they had titan-like strength, perhaps even surpassing that of an Ackerman, but their bodies couldn't handle the effects, essentially dying from a single-use. Then, discovered quite by accident, one of my ancestors transferred his power to another soldier during battle through touch. I guess that is what revealed a Sandrine's true power of "Transference," which can only happen moments before death..."

Levi's eyes widened as his lips parted, my words taking him completely by surprise. Placing my other hand on top of Levi's, sandwiching his in-between, I softened my gaze and continued.

"I thought Kenny was just making up some bullshit story to kill time or something until he mentioned you. When my brainwashed father attacked me underground, you did more than just stop him from slitting my throat. You gave me the ability to heal...

"Ackerman blood has a healing effect on my body, and if I'm injected with a large enough quantity, I can make a full recovery from even the most critical of injuries in a very short period of time... So, you must have had an open wound back then, which was the only reason why I didn't just bleed to death.

"Unfortunately, Viktor was the recipient of my 'Transference' when he stopped me from escaping to the surface, and with his historical knowledge, he recognized what the sudden rush of power was. So, in order to continue receiving an overwhelming amount of strength, he kept me in "Survival Mode," and forced me to keep transferring my power to him.

"Of course I had no fucking clue what all this 'Transference' bullshit was. I just thought he was a fucking psycho who got off on seeing me suffer, beating and raping me for the hell of it..."

I took a moment to catch my breath before I ended up punching a wall at the thought of Viktor's sick addiction. Then, I turned back to Levi with a pained smile.

"Levi, you may or may not believe this next detail, but Kenny actually gave his blood to Viktor in an attempt to spare you, with the promise that Viktor would leave you alone. Sure, Kenny got his own kickbacks from it too, but... like you said, Levi, he must have found you pretty damn important if he risked his life for you..."

Levi released my hand and slowly made his way to his feet, pacing the floor while massaging his forehead. I knew he would be overwhelmed by everything I had to say, and it hurt to see him so distressed, so I decided to stop there.

Erwin finished transcribing my report, then set down the quill with a heavy sigh. I turned to find Levi leaning against the wall with an enormous scowl on his face. Then, I looked back up at Erwin and asked, "Commander, may I ask you a rather... dangerous question?"

Staring intently at me with his bright blue eyes, he nodded and awaited my inquiry.

"Am I wrong to assume... that this isn't the first time you've heard about this?"
