7-- Murder

“You called me, Father?” For some odd reason, Jimin was acting calmer today, he woke up feeling so much more relaxed for the first time.

Sleep was never a nice friend of his. He always woke up disturbed, puzzled, scared and somewhat confused, and detached from reality.

The nightmares that haunted him at the night in the dark were always round the corner waiting to tear his peace apart.

Peace? Did he even have it?

He didn’t even know what it feels like to be at peace, all he knew was how to be hostile, curious, or simply hollow. How to relive his days as his nightmares in the darkness of the nights. He wanted to escape it so badly, wanted to not feel those painful sickening jabs to the gut that startled him in his sleep so bad leaving the boy totally devastated at that moment.

Jimin wanted not to feel all that and only one thing kept him sane through this nerve-racking life of his.

His curiosity to know Humans, to know how they have so much more than him. He was eager to feel it all. Mischievous and even jealous to find so many things that they possessed.

So many things he lacked, and he was jealous of them to be able to do all these different things, from expressions to actions, everything was just so much more.

They even decorated the food they ate and here all Jimin saw was his mother diced alive humans into chunks while their dying bodies screamed as loud as they could.

With these past days, and especially after meeting this…. Girl, yes girl. He somewhat narrowed his choices on how to refer to the being.

Her instead it.

Human instead of prey.

And girl instead of food.

Within a few days only, Jimin had found his little attachment to this human species. An attachment that was born from curiosity, he was inquisitive to know about so many whys and whats that surrounded his head and clouded his animalistic nature keeping it chained back from overcoming the little sanity left in the boy.

He was curious to know what more humans possessed and cannibals lacked. It was going to be one heck of a surprising journey for him to find his origin back. And this curiosity was surely going to lead him back to what he was supposed to be.

Genevieve was feeding into his curiosity, not knowingly but she was. All she sought from Jimin was protection. Even if he was a cannibal himself and she wasn’t safe around him either. But she knew that losing a few drops of blood was better than losing her life.

If that makes any sense. But, well it did to her. Though Jimin hadn’t shown any intentions of doing that after they came back home and slept on one rag. Even if he had a full chance of just snapping her neck and diving right into what he finds the most pleasing.

Or maybe he just didn’t get the chance or that was what Genevieve thought.

As for Jimin, he just knew he couldn’t keep up the thoughts of killing the girl. This was the first time that he had actually encountered human behavior from this close. He had his eyes on every little move she made on every small action she did, from the shrugging of her shoulders to the different facial expressions she gave off.

Jimin was curious to know it all. To know what she hides in her existence. What more she was capable of? He wanted to feel all of it and for that, he needed to keep the girl alive.

Just a little bit of deception won’t hurt, and it’s not like he cares about what the rest of his family has to say except his father. No, he never cared about him either but he was… scared. Scared of his father.

That beast was one of the worst Jimin had seen, and one of the best the Parks had ever produced.

And that being the main reason he had come down leaving the sleeping girl in his room as soon as he heard that familiar hoarse growl.
Jimin sat down at the same dining table where the breakfast was being diced up. The remains from the last night’s dinner were enough to fill their beastly hunger. And, Jimin being empty stomach for the whole day was starving now.

Without a care, he reached forth to the bowl of broth with juicy meat jiggling in the center peppered with parsley and spice.

He dived into his meal letting his hunger devour the pleasure. Seeing this, the scowl on his father’s lips faltered a little. The boy was not annoyingly loud today like how he usually was, he didn’t complain about how the food tasted or anything. Instead, he sat down quietly and started eating like the rest. Just like how his father always wanted him to.

The conversation that was supposed to start heavy had thinned down unexpectedly making the old figure in the wheelchair grumble about how he had lost a scene to the eye.

“Joseph” The man spoke through the loud munches he took from his food. While his eyes remained latched to his son.

Jimin looked up at the mention of the familiar name, his best friend of course. He stayed quiet while taking another mouthful of the rice soaked in the meaty broth.

“Murdered” Stated the man slurping his own food.

For a minute Jimin stayed quiet and let the words sink in, he already had an idea that the news will spread around quickly.

“Last night”

“What? Joseph is dead?” Jimin spoke sliding so smoothly into the act as if he was hearing the name ‘Joseph’ for the first time ever.

“Murdered? What are you saying, Father?”
Jimin acted purely shocked hearing it.

“You do know that is a disgrace to us.” He talked in the language he knew his father liked. Holding the cannibals above everything.

“Hmm, true” His father hummed totally not expecting such a response from his son.

Another groan with a scowl erupted from across the table and Jimin looked up towards the source to be no one other than his grandfather, who was glaring at the boy with an annoyed gaze.

“Why would anyone kill Joseph? He didn’t do shit and the last time I remember; He and the Carvers had let go of the east Sierra dominance issue.” Jimin pulled his shoulders in a shrug. Easily slid his father’s focus away from what the old man had filled his ears with earlier, though Jimin had no idea of something like that happening already.

“Or just maybe they hadn’t, Joseph did say he doesn’t hold the intentions of letting go that so they must have killed-…”

“LIAR” Wheezed the old man in the wheelchair as he saw how smoothly Jimin had pulled his father into the trap of his lies.

“Why would I lie? Everyone knows the two colonies never were on good terms.” Jimin stated as a ‘matter of fact’ly.

“KILLER” The old pointed fingers at Jimin while slamming a hand on the wooden table making his father glance towards the old man.

“Silence” spoke the man as he glared at the old figure.

“Hating me won’t do shit old man! Even if you call me a disgrace to Parks, I am the only heir… Yet.” Jimin glanced toward the woman sitting next to his father.

“And I am just stating facts.” He looked at his father to find him nodding in acknowledgment.

“What do you think should we do now?”  Jimin asked engaging the man in the topic while glaring at the old figure grumbling at the end of the table. He knew this old man wasn’t up last night just for nothing, he must have found out that Jimin wasn’t home. Of course, why would he let such a chance slide away.

The old man never liked the fact that Jimin’s father was so much better than him, much deadlier beast and then Jimin being just an evolved version of even that.

He wasn’t blind, he saw Jimin with bloody hands and then those thick waterfalls of black hair and intense eyes peeking over his shoulder, how can he forget whom the boy was hiding? The old man clearly remembered that frail prey and they had forgotten about while enjoying the much better food.

But, why would Jimin keep the thing still alive and even close to himself like that?

Something surely was wrong here.

“LIES, LIES, LIES” The old man wheezed slamming his old hands on the table frustrated over the fact that the boy easily defeated him yet he was not going to let go so easily.

Throwing his spiked hammer on the table he spilled the whole bowl of broth making everyone stop eating and look at the old man.
Grumbles and growls were what hid under their breaths.

Jimin poked his inner cheek with the tip of his tongue clearly annoyed over how the lovely meal was disturbed and this was surely going to be chaotic. Yet, he never thought he would do such a thing. Especially when it will relate to the girl with almond dark eyes hiding in his room.
