Chapter 16: Sweater Snuggles and Strawberry Smooches
Sai-Rin and Alastor would sometimes spend time learning about the fashion trends and slang from each other's decades. Despite having a mermaid tail, Sai-Rin couldn't deny that she looked cute in a flapper dress and cloche hat, and Alastor still managed to maintain his dapper sense of style while wearing a simple jacket and jeans. Sometimes, the two would incorporate popular slang terms into their conversations. "That's a fly outfit you've got on, Darling!" Alastor said one day, complementing the sparkly sequined dress and matching headband Sai-Rin was wearing one day. "You're lookin' ritzy yourself for a guy wearing such casual clothes, Babe!" Sai-Rin replied, eyeing Alastor's comfy looking red button up shirt and denim jacket. Alastor had even taught Sai-Rin how to speak French.
One day, it was unusually cold inside the hotel because of one of Baxter's experiments going wrong and coating every flat surface in a sheet of ice. Not even leaving all the hotel windows and doors open could melt it. Luckily, Charlie decided to make the best of this predicament. So, while Baxter was busy having a mental breakdown due to past memories, everyone else bundled up and went ice skating around the hotel lobby. Even Husk couldn't resist having a little fun, skating with his wings gracefully spread out. Everyone had to move out of the way every time Alastor came zooming around, holding Sai-Rin above his head "Dirty Dancing" style.
After everyone had been tired out and the ice finally melted, the two lovers sat down in front of the fireplace, Sai-Rin seated comfortably in Alastor's lap. Even though the room was warm, Alastor didn't take off the cozy sweater he was wearing. Despite being so close to the fire, Sai-Rin still felt cold as the ocean her body had been pulled from. Alastor noticed her shivering. "Come here, Darling." he said, lifting up the bottom of his sweater and pulling it over her head so they were both wearing it. Sai-Rin closed her eyes and sighed, snuggling into Alastor's chest as he laid his chin on top of her head.
"Is that cologne?" Sai-Rin asked softly, catching a slight scent of maple. "Yes indeedy, Dear." Alastor replied, wrapping his arms around Sai-Rin. "I have a little surprise for you, by the way." Alastor reached over to a side table, upon which sat a small plate of chocolate squares. Sai-Rin giggled. "Chérie, you know me so well..."
Alastor let out a low chuckle. "Of course, Mon Petit Amour." he purred, putting one end of the chocolate in his mouth and leaning in. Sai-Rin bit down on the other end, briefly kissing him, and tasted strawberry filling as well as chocolate. "You're full of surprises, Alastor..." she said, wiping a smudge of chocolate from her lips. Alastor smiled, taking Sai-Rin's face in his hands and pressing gentle kisses to her forehead and cheeks. "Je t'aime, Sai-Rin." he whispered in her ear.
"Je t'aime, Alastor." Sai-Rin replied. "You're amazing, Dear." Alastor cooed, gently stroking Sai-Rin's hair. Sai-Rin smiled. "You're pretty Jake yourself..." she whispered, finally giving in to the warmth of Alastor's sweater and drifting off to sleep as the fire in the fireplace went out.
