Then It All Went to Hell
Percy Jackson POV
It has been about a week since we arrived at the bunker, and I loved it. Annabeth gets along really well with Mom, I mean, Mary, but she also loves Sam and Dean. She even gets along with Castiel! My wise girl is really happy with my family.
I was currently wandering my way around the bunker when I overheard Sam and Dean talking in the kitchen. "Dean, I found a case, five victims with chest ripped open and no hearts. Sound familiar?" I heard the tell-tale sound of Sam sliding something over the table for Dean to see.
"Werewolves. Ah, yes, when has the supernatural ever given a chance to settle in? So, looks like we are heading to...Iowa? Alright, let's tell Perce and Annie, and hit the road." I started to move because Dean was clearly standing up. But I froze when Sam made a displeased sound.
"That's what I was thinking, but...Dean, we just got him back...its only been a week of him here and...we can't lose him again. Let's be honest, Percy was never completely trained in hunter fighting, and we had never even seen a werewolf until he was already gone. Maybe, it would be best if we either handled this alone or call Jody and Donna to handle it." My breathing hitched at his words. He thought I was a liability.
"What do you mean? You mean like bench the kid?" Dean asked gruffly, it made me feel better that Dean seemed to be as thrown as me with Sam's suggestion.
Sam groaned, "No, no. Not like that, just until we know he can handle this stuff. I mean, I know he has fought many wars and battles. I do. But the thought of him getting hurt because we didn't make sure he was prepared for a monster that he has never faced before...we can't let that happen, Dean," I could handle myself in a fight. Hell, I have been doing it since I was able to walk. I mustered up as much bravado as possible before I marched into the kitchen were my brothers stood.
They looked surprised by my sudden entrance, "I know I'm not an expert on all things monster, but if there is a case, I want in. I haven't tangled with normal monsters in years...I want to help, please? Have a little faith in me," I felt my facade cracking. It really rattled me that Sam didn't have trust in me.
Sam looked upset, but Dean spoke before he could, "Kid, we do have faith in you. Sammy is just being overly cautious, like always. We'll go on this hunt, together like old times," I felt a smile stretch across my face, I couldn't help myself.
I launched myself at Dean before I tightly wrapped my arms around his waist. "Thanks, Dean," I mumbled before I felt him hug me back.
"Anytime kiddo,"
When I pulled away Sam was waiting there for me, I looked at the floor. "Percy, I didn't mean it like that...I'm just...okay, the thought of you leaving again... I don't think I could handle it. I don't consider you weak or anything like that. This is just me being an overprotective big brother," I looked up at Sam, he looked apologetic.
I smiled gently before I hugged him too. I know they aren't big on hugs, but I am, and I'll be damned if that stops me. "I forgive you," I could feel Sam's arms tighten for a split second before we pulled away and I gave them my best shit-eating-grin. "Now, let's get ready for this hunt!" I whooped before bouncing out of the room to help get stuff ready for our trip.
We spent the next hour gathering supplies, Annabeth, Mary, and Cas decided to let us handle this one. Something about a good bonding time, I don't really know. I was sitting in my room, flipping my pen in my hands while I was waiting for my brothers to finish packing when Annabeth walked into the room. I smiled up at her as she walked over and wrapped her arms around me. I pressed my face into her stomach and wrapped my arms around her waist, I shivered at the feeling of her fingers carding through my hair.
"You better stay safe, Seaweed Brain. I mean it," she threatened loosely, I snorted and gently pulled her down so she was sitting on my lap.
"Got it, Wise Girl. " She glared at me while I smiled at her, she continued to run her hands through my hair.
"No, I'm serious, I'll kill you if you die," She stabbed her pointer finger into my chest, I smirked as I looked down at it before I gently took her hand into mine.
"I know, the terms and conditions you set at New Rome still stand," A smile broke out onto her face, as she hugged me tightly.
"I must be out of my mind for letting you go without me," She mumbled into my shoulder, I shook my head and just nuzzled my face into her hair. I honestly, don't know where I would be without Annabeth. I wouldn't have survived Tartarus, and I'm even more sure I wouldn't have survived that first quest. I was sad and lonely without my brothers, I missed them, but Annabeth and Grover were there. Without them, I would definitely have never lived to see my brothers again.
Annabeth sighed and pulled back, I didn't really want to let her go, I loved just sitting like this. She looked me in the eyes before she started talking, "Sam and Dean told me to come to get you, they said and I quote, 'will leave your sorry ass if you didn't move it' so, I would suggest moving your butt," I snorted laughter before I kissed her. She hummed into the kiss before she pulled away. "I love you, Wise Girl,"
"Love you too, Seaweed Brain," She kissed my cheek and stood up, I quickly grabbed my backpack and ran down to the garage with Annabeth behind me. When I arrived I saw Sam and Dean already sitting in the car waiting; I turned and kissed Annabeth once more.
"Alright, we should be back in just a few days, have fun with Cas and Mary," She smiled before once again told me to be safe and to not annoy my brothers. I rolled my eyes and climbed into the car.
"Ready, kid?" I smirked at the nickname I probably would never get rid of, I nodded and waved to Annabeth as we pulled out.
Nearly seven hours later we were pulling into a crappy-motel, and I nearly jumped out of my seat in excitement. Memories rushed in and out of my head, all the times we stayed at shitty hotels and crappy motels for days to weeks at a time. "Kid, are you alright?" Dean asked as he sat in a chair with his feet kicked up onto the table.
I only nodded as I continued to look about the room, it reminded me a lot of the motel room where Sam and I stayed for two full weeks. The set up was essentially the same, and it even held the same mildewed smell. I flopped back onto one of the beds and smiled.
I only cracked my eyes open when I heard Sam grunt, "Um, Perce, you sure your okay?" Sam was sitting on the opposite bed and was giving me his usual Sam questioning look.
I nodded, "Yeah, I'm fine, this brings back old memories. I didn't get to stay in many hotels or even motels on my demigod quest. Usually ended up where ever the road-or monsters- took us," I looked around once more, "I don't think I have stayed in a motel like this since before I left," I hummed as I looked back to Sam who was blinking at me with owlish eyes. I tipped my head in confusion.
Dean stood up which instantly grabbed my attention, it was only now I even realized my foot was bouncing on the floor, "Hold up, you didn't stay anywhere nice or even a shit-hole like this? Where the hell did you stay?"
I shrugged, "Lots of different places really, sometimes we camped out in the woods, actually we camped a lot. Once me, Annabeth, and my friend Grover hitched a ride in the back of an illegal zoo-van. We ended up setting free the animals because they were horribly mistreated, wait sorry, that was off topic. I'm trying to say, we camped a lot or when we were going to Rome our friend, Leo, built a huge flying warship that we all lived on for a while," I shrugged once more, I thought I had mentioned the Argo II when I was telling them about my quests?
"A flying warship...okay, why not," Dean threw his hands up and took another long swig from his beer. I grimaced at the drink, I hated alcohol. The mere smell made me want to throw up, I never understood how John, Sam, and Dean liked it so much.
Apparently, Sam had found something on our werewolf case because it wasn't long till we were all loaded in the car once more and were headed into town. The morgue tripped almost ended terribly because I'm eighteen, which makes it hard to believe I'm an FBI agent. Still, I was stoked, I had never gotten to do field missions, I was always too young. So, to save face, Sam and Dean made up some lie about me being a trainee, and surprisingly it worked.
Sam tugged the tray down revealing one of the bodies. I nearly barfed, I have seen some intense carnage in my life, but nothing like this. The person's chest was ripped open, their ribs all pointed outward, and clearly, their heart had been ripped out.
Apparently, my face said it all, because next thing I knew, Sam and Dean pushed me away from the corpse. "Hey!" I protested but was pushed back once more by Dean.
"No, stay. Don't make yourself sick," He pointed at the ground sternly before he walked back to Sam. I huffed and crossed my arms over my chest. They were talking about some case stuff while I heard a group of people begin talking outside the room.
I turned and watched them through the small window on the swinging doors of the morgue. "I am telling you, Keenan, those aren't FBI! They're hunters!" The tall dark colored girl snapped at the man, his eyes flickered into the room.
I made sure to look completely innocent and as if I was really studying the chart I randomly grabbed.
"Why would hunters come to a nothing-town like this? That's why we set up shop here in the first place!" The man, Keenan, sounded frightened. I kind of felt bad for him, but if what I was hearing was right then these two were high on our suspect list.
"Because those fucking brats you shifted! They killed five people in less than two weeks! Any hunter is bound to realize something is fishy!" The woman growled before she took a deep breath and spoke again, "As much as I hate to do this, but we have to leave now. If I'm right, those men are the Winchester brothers. Now, you make up an excuse while I go get those mangy excuses of wolves ready for the trip," The woman looked furious before she stomped away. Keenan sighed heavily before he walked down the hall, opposite of the tall lady.
I immediately rounded towards Sam and Dean. "Um, hey guys," I started forward but Dean waved me back. I groaned and my feet shuffled hastily before I said F it and marched towards my brothers. When I reached them Dean rounded on me like he was about to yell at me or tell me to go away, but I started before him. "I found the werewolves,"
This had both Dean and Sam frozen for a second before they simultaneously said, "What?"
I pointed towards the door, "They work here, or well, they are posing as people to work here. Probably to help hide the killings, but yeah. A man named Keenan, and some lady who I didn't catch her name,"
Sam turned towards me, "They work here? How do you know all this?"
"When you made me go stand by myself, I heard them arguing outside the door and I don't think they realized how loud they were being," I shrugged.
Dean and Sam shared one more look before they marched out of the room, with me trailing behind. A quick discussion with one of the other employees (who we made sure was not a werewolf with a simple hunter trick) later and we were on our way to this house where a group of eight people lived together.
I was bouncing in the back seat while Dean and Sam were trying to give me the run down of how to fight werewolves. I was trying to listen, I really was but it was hard especially because I was kind of excited. This was the first time I was ever going on a full-fledged hunt with my brothers as an equal.
When the Impala tires hit the rocky dirt road my chest tightened. I felt almost queasy, and I slowly interlaced my hands while I debated on telling Dean or Sam. I decided not to and just deal with it on my own. As we pulled up to this a run-down cabin with broken windows, I wondered if my choice was the right one.
"Alright. So we are gonna move quickly and efficiently through here...got it?" Dean turned in his seat and spoke to me. I nodded and tried to hide my nausea. Sam frowned at me but I quickly slipped out of the car as Dean did to avoid Sams questions. I was handed a gun with silver bullets but it felt weird and out of place in my hands.
I licked my lips before I asked, "Do I have to use a gun? Don't you have a knife or anything else?" I flinched as Sam and Dean both painfully stopped their prepping to look at me.
"Um, no? We usually just use silver bullets. It's better but we do usually carry silver knives as a precaution." Sam slipped a long silver dagger out of a sheath that was strapped to his hip.
"Is it possible for me to use that instead? I'm not good with guns, trust me. Annabeth and Chiron never let me live it down," I shook my head as I was handed a longer blade than Sams. It felt disproportionate in my hands, and out of balance. I hated using any other blade than Riptide. It was the only thing that felt right when I used it.
I rolled the blade around before I took a deep breath and looked up at my brothers. Who were both staring at me? "You ready?" I have a stiff nod to Sams question, I don't think I had ever put myself into a battle. Normally I run away from monsters, I don't really try to find them. They like to find me at really inconvenient times.
"Alright, boys lets go," Dean said before we charged forward.
We were wrong. Those wolves purposefully gave us faulty information. There was way more than we had originally expected.
Dean and Sam had six werewolves dead and I had about two. Still more came, every time we thought we had them numbered another would appear.
I tucked and rolled away from a pair of claws, and I was able to stab one in the chest. It dropped to the ground, dead. I puffed out air, my left arm had some nasty looking scratches and my right shoulder had been hit. Just as I stood up away from the dead werewolf I was tackled by two others. I was thrashed and tried my best to get my knife on them but they were too strong.
I yelped as I felt one of them twist my arm causing the knife to fall out of my hand. "Percy!" I hear Dean yell, I was about to yell for help when something smashed into my temple causing everything to go black.
Sam's POV
"Percy!" Dean and I yelled in unison as the werewolf bashed a lamp onto Percy's head. I watched his body go limp and fear overtook me.
Were these werewolves going to try to turn him? How would that work with Percy's demigod blood? I didn't wait to find out, I quickly stabbed the wolf I was wrestling within the chest and began to move through the wolves to get to my brother.
When I saw Dean fighting his way beside me, we killed two more wolves before the back door opened. Ten more werewolves walked in, I have never seen so many werewolves in one place.
They traveled and lived in packs, but this was an absurd amount. They had this planned, they wanted hunters to find them. These wolves were trying to kill hunters!
I was shoved back into the wall by the wolf I had been fighting, I sat up just in time to see Dean thrown into the opposite wall. The wolves made no advance for us, no instead the fifteen wolves form two groups. Half blocked us from getting any closer to Percy, while the other group lifted him off the ground.
"Don't touch him!" Dean roared as he watched two of the wolves shoulder, Percy. I watched in horror as they began to leave with him.
"NO!" Dean and I charged forward to attempt to stop the werewolves, but with so many in our way we had no chance. I watched helplessly as the werewolves carried my little brother away.
