How do I explain without sounding crazy?

Percy Jackson

Okay so, as far as I know this place where Sam and Dean have been living is a hunters paradise, they inherited from their grandfather who was apparently a time traveling badass. I was currently laying in the back seat of the impala with Annabeth. I honestly couldn't believe Dean had kept this car in such good shape. It was exactly like I remember, I spread my legs across the long bench seat, and Annabeth was curled up in my lap asleep. I was gently running my finger through her hair as I spoke with Sam and Dean.

"Okay, how about we take turns asking questions about what we each missed?" I suggested as I rested my back against the door of the car. I saw Dean glance back at me in the rear view mirror. That was a major wave of nostalgia, it was something Dean would do often when I was a kid unable to sit still or stop talking. My ADHD used to be ten times worse before I figured out a way to keep myself busy.

Sam laughed, it was a shallow laugh as if he was remembering something. I cocked my head sideways as I waited for an explanation. "Games. You always came up with games for us to play in the car. I forgot how much I missed that."

"Or the constant chatter, its been too quiet with out you kid." Dean added in which caused me to make eye contact with him in the mirror. His look made me feel so guilty. I had left them with no explanation, and I still haven't told them the biggest secret of my life. I looked away from Deans intense stare. I think he noticed something, but I was quickly trying to avoid his questioning looks. Dean has always been able to see right through me, able to make me spill my guts without hesitation. Right now that was my worst fear.

"I bet, you guys don't know how to hold a good conversation. Now, I'll go first. How long did you look for me?" I adjusted Annabeth slightly being careful to not wake her. She snuggled deeper into my leg and I just continued to run my fingers through her soft curls.

"We never stopped, yeah there was times were we found more evidence than others, but we never stopped." Sam casted a glance back at me, he seemed surprised to see my shocked but slightly upset face. "Is that not what you wanted to hear?"

"No, I assumed you would have given up after a year or two. I never thought you would have kept looking. I mean I'm not your real brother so why care so much, right? Anyway its your turn." I was desperately hoping that they would talk about what I had just accidentally said.

"Percy, just because you aren't our blood brother doesn't mean that you aren't are our brother. Family don't end in blood. We would do anything for you, and we've practically raised you." Dean stopped the car and looked back at me. I shrunk under both of their gaze. I had forgotten how intense their combined gaze is. I looked anywhere but their faces.

"Don't ever think that you aren't our brother, because you are. No one could ever replace our annoying little pain in the ass brother." Sam joked as he ruffled my hair, another thing they did all the time when I was younger. I felt tears starting to come to my eyes, my leaving really hurt them. I felt awful and there was nothing I could do to replace all those years I missed.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for disappearing. I should have done something to at least tell you I was alive...I'm sorry." I reached up and angrily brushed the tear that left my eyes. I didn't want to cry but it seemed to be what my body wanted to do.

"Its okay, we forgive you. Just don't do it again okay?" Sam smiled as I finally looked up at him, I let out a puff of a laugh. Dean started the car back up and we were once again heading down the dark road.

"What happened that night?" Sam asked out of blue, I froze, but took a deep breath.

"A lot. Stuff I didn't understand till much later, " I sighed as I took another deep breath, pushing down my butterflies, "Some weird schist went down at school. It all started with our field trip to the museum. As you both, probably, remember I got into a lot of fights. Well, this one girl drove me nuts, and the Pre-Algebra teacher hated me. Well, the girl threw clumps of her sandwich into my best friend Grover's hair. Anyway long story short, I didn't know how at the time, somehow I magically shoved her into the fountain. Without touching her. The teacher pulled me aside, and she turned into this monster. My Latin teacher threw me a pen that uncapped into a sword and basically I vaporized my Pre-Algebra teacher. She wasn't a normal monster. She was a Fury, and she vaporized into this gold dust.  After that everyone started acting as if this teacher never existed. For months I thought I somehow magically made up this teacher, but I knew that's somehow that actually happened because Grover is the worst liar ever. Soon I heard my Latin teacher and Grover talking about me, saying weird stuff and needless to say I got expelled. After that when I was leaving the school Grover was determined to leave with me. I told him I lived in the city like you guys told me to. He was persistent about coming home with me, thankfully I slipped away from him at the bus station-" I was cut off by Dean.

"Hold up. Is this some kind of joke? What the hell is a Fury? Tell the truth, Percy." Dean gave me this done expression.

I scoffed, how could he not believe me? Then I realized Sam and Dean may live in the supernatural but they revolve mostly around the rule 'Seeing it makes it real."
I sighed, I cracked my knuckles. I had to tell them what I am for them to really believe me. Or...I could just pull out Riptide. I decided that the later was better for my own stress levels.
"Guys, I swear to the gods that this is all true. I have proof, but first let me finish." Dean gave me a skeptical look while Sam gave me an unsure but continue look. I told them about how I ditched Grover, made it to the cabin before some weird noises woke me up, then Grover appearing at the door, dragging me out of there. How we were being chased by a beast, and I called them, hoping for help. Only for the freaking monster to throw crap at us. I told them about how I barely managed to pull Grover up the massive hill before the monster was on to us. I then recanted how i had this sudden energy and was able to vault myself over the monster, break off its horn and stab it under the ribs. Dean looked at me with complete utter disbelief, (and not the good kind of disbelief) and Sam looked in awe while also seeming hesitant.

"Well, after that I managed to drag me and Grover down the hill and to a giant house in the valley. I proceeded to passed out on the spot only to wake up three days later. Now, that monster was the Minotaur. Ya' know from Greek Mythology." Sam's head whipped around so fast I was sure he had just given himself whip-lash, Dean just scoffed. I frowned. " Yu don't believe me?" I asked him, he rolled his eyes before answering.

"No, I don't. The minotaur is a myth, we all know that. You are just trying to pull our legs like when you were eight and you swore that lady had goat legs. You were goofing off then and so are you now." Dean casted a wickedly sarcastic look in the mirror, I returned the look before I reached into my pocket. I pulled out Riptide immediately handing it to Sam. He looked at me questioningly. I sighed with nervousness, Hazel had taught me a simple trick to move the mist so I could reveal things to people if I wanted. I rubbed my hands together hoping I could do it now. I did the simple gesture of wiping my hands, as if I was clearing stuff from their eyes. Thy both gave me a look as if I was crazy, I returned a half smile.

"Alright, if you don't believe me, open the pen. Don't worry the metal is special so it wont hurt humans, just monsters. Still from what I heard its not pleasant." I gently laid Annabeth flat onto the bench seat and scooted around her into the empty part.

Sam looked at Dean before he looked back at me, I waved for him to open it. He sighed before he pulled off the cap. The pen switched into a sword in Sam's hands, almost stabbing Dean's face. Both gasped and Dean almost wrecked the car as he swerved on the road, he quickly regained his composure with some swearing.

"What the hell Percy! Are you trying to kill me!?" Dean yelled while he now angrily drove, Sam was staring at the blade in fascination. I chuckled before pulling it from his hands, I twisted the blade so it would have cut Sam's shoulder. Dean yelled again about me being stupid and ridiculous, Sam flinched away from the cut, the blade only swiftly move through him with out so much as cutting his jacket. Sam grabbed his jacket checking the spot in confusion, before he looked at me with utter disbelief. (This time the good kind)

"How is that possible?" Sam asked me while Dean was checking the spot where I had slashed only to find nothing different.

"Simple, the blade is made from celestial bronze, the metal of the gods. As in the Olympic gods, which I guess brings me to my next important bit of information." Dean was blinking in confusion, while Sam stared at me with curiosity. "So, after that day, I spent the next six years living at the camp, going to school, and mostly going on life threating quests...for the gods." I waved my hands as I tried to explain, Dean had long since pulled the car over and now both of them were staring at me. I swallowed as I tried to think of a good way to explain.

"The gods? As in the Greek gods?" Sam added on, I nodded. They shared a look of utter confusion.

"The camp is special, it protects people like me... as well as Annabeth and all my other friends at the camp. Its called Camp Half-blood and its a place for demigods." I looked up hoping they understood my very danced-around answer. They still only looked confused, but Sam seemed to be understanding as well as Dean but still lost.

"Demigods? You mean like Hercules or Perseus?" Dean asked, I pointed at him to signal that he was right.

"Exactly," I could still see that the weren't getting what I was saying, I groaned resting my head on the back of the seat in front of me. " guys, I'm a demigod. A half-blood or whatever you want to call it. My mom was a mortal, and my dad is a Greek god." I finally yelled, well not yelled more like expelled a bit louder than I had been talking before. Maybe it was a yell, I'm not really sure, I was far more focused on their expressions.

They only stared at me for an entire minute, yeah that's right, for an entire sixty seconds they stared at me with blank expressions. All this was happening while I was internally dying. My eyes kept switching back and forth between their faces.

Finally it was Dean who spoke, he shook his head slightly before he spoke, "What?" I paused. My breathing was being to pick up.

"I'm a demigod. My mother was a mortal and my father is immortal. He is a Greek god." I said it again this time slower. I didn't  know if they were hoping for me to shout 'Just kidding! Oh, you should have seen your faces' but that wasn't happening.

"No, wait, seriously? You're not joking?" Dean asked, I nodded, and he sighed sitting back into his seat. He ran his hands through his hair before running them over his face.

"Which one?" Sam spoke for the first one, Dean and I both looked over to Sam.

"No way? Your believing this bull crap!?" Dean shouted sitting up looked wild-eyed at Sam, who calmly stared back at him.

"Poseidon." I answered, which brought the attention back to me. Sam and Dean once again stared at me. Sam with this scary calm expression, while Dean looked at me as if I had sprouted antlers.

"Poseidon? As in god of the sea and stuff Poseidon? Brother of Zeus and Hades? That Poseidon?" Sam asked skeptically, I nodded.

"Yeah, that's the one."

"Are you serious? Percy, we've raised you since you were an infant, how could we have no known?" Dean looked as if he was trying to bring some sense into this. I sighed.

"Well, first of all the gods are complete assholes, they would only claim their children if they felt like it. So, certain kids would go their whole life without knowing who their godly parent is. Second of all, after Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades kids were mostly responsible for the destruction in world war II, they made a pact to never have kids again. Surprisingly, Zeus kept it in his pants for a good chunk of time, before he broke the law...twice. My Dad also broke the law, when he met my mom and they had me. HAdes was the only one who kept the pact, but he hid two of his children in thos casino where time doesn't pass normally so they didn't age. Eventually Bianca and Nico got out, and we found them...but Bianca was killed when I was thirteen in an accident...she saved my life and all the kids with me." I was desperately trying to push the lump out of my throat, "But still, like I said, the gods were complete assholes who were iffy at best when the claimed their kids. I took care of that though." I smiled with slight bit of pride when I remember how I used my gift to make them claim their kids, and to have a cabin for all the gods.

"Wow...okay...um..." Dean seemed lost, and mostly confused. I didn't blame him, I was confused by all of this when I found out.

"In the stories, Hercules had powerful strength because he was the son of Zeus. Is that the same for you?" Sam asked, while Dean was still desperately trying to wrap his head around everything.

I left out a noise that sounded like 'Pffffffftttt', before I chuckled, "No, but I can talk to horses, and sea life, while I can also control water."

Dean looked up excitedly, "Wait you have powers?" He smiled, I nodded with a smile of my own. "That's awesome." He smiled while nodding, before he saw Sam staring at him with a face that said "Dude what the heck?" Dean quickly looked down.

I capped Riptide, shoving him in my pocket, before I picked up the water bottle Jody had given us before we left. I opened it pouring a bit into my palm, except it never hit my palm. It levitate, and I made it form into the shape of a horse, before it switched into a Pegasus.

Dude, that's so awesome." Dean excitedly watch as I moved the water back into the bottle, I laughed as I felt the pull in my gut disappear.

"That's nothing, but my favorite part is I can't get wet unless I want to." Sam scowled at that, but Dean looked like a little kid.

His smile suddenly turned into a frown as he looked down at my arm, I scowled before following his eyes. I looked down to see my Camp Jupiter tattoo, as well as a few scars littering my tan skin. I gave an awkward smirk as I looked up at them. Their eyes held a look that screamed they wanted a explanation. I sighed knowing I would have to give them one.

This was going to be one long night.
