Chapter 10: Heartbreaking Backstories
The dimly lit room where the trio was held captive by Yoongi and Namjoon seemed to shrink with each passing hour. The weight of their situation pressed heavily upon them, but amidst the cold and fear, a sense of camaraderie began to grow. Bound together, the trio found solace in each other's presence, the shared experience of their predicament weaving an unspoken bond between them.
Y/n's thoughts swirled with memories of her past, and she realized that sharing these burdens might strengthen their resolve. She glanced at Taehyung and Hobi, their faces etched with worry and fatigue. Taking a deep breath, she decided to break the silence.
"Do you guys ever think about the past?" Y/n asked softly, her voice barely more than a whisper.
Taehyung looked up, his eyes clouded with a mix of emotions. "All the time," he admitted. "I guess it's something we can't escape from, no matter how hard we try."
Hobi nodded in agreement, his usual cheerfulness subdued by the gravity of their situation. "Sometimes, sharing helps," he said, offering a small, encouraging smile. "Maybe it's time we know more about each other."
Y/n took another deep breath, feeling a lump form in her throat. "I guess I'll start," she said, her voice wavering. "My past is...complicated. My father was a vampire, and my mother was human. They fell in love against all odds, but it wasn't a happy ending. When I was young, my father was killed by a vampire hunter. My mother tried to protect me, but she died shortly after from a mysterious illness. I was left alone, and I never really understood why things happened the way they did. I've always felt different, like I didn't belong anywhere."
She paused, her eyes welling with tears as the memories resurfaced. "I came to South Korea hoping for a fresh start, but it seems like trouble follows me everywhere."
Hobi reached out as far as his restraints would allow, offering a comforting touch. "That's tough, Y/n. I can't imagine what you've been through."
Taehyung nodded, his expression one of empathy. "Thanks for sharing that with us," he said. "I guess it's my turn now."
He took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "I was born during an annular solar eclipse," he began, his voice steady despite the emotional weight of his words. "My parents always said it made me special, but not in a good way. They were scared of me, of what I could do. I didn't understand why they treated me differently until one day, I accidentally hurt someone with my powers. After that, they sent me away to live with my grandmother. She was the only one who really understood me, who helped me learn to control my abilities. But she passed away when I was in high school, and I've been on my own since then. Coming to college was my way of trying to find a place where I belonged."
His eyes met Y/n's, a silent understanding passing between them. "I guess we've all been looking for a place to fit in," he said quietly.
Hobi took a deep breath, sensing it was his turn. "I guess it's my turn now," he said, his voice tinged with a sadness they hadn't seen before. "My story's a bit different. I grew up in a small village. My family was normal, or so I thought. When I turned sixteen, I found out the truth. I was a werewolf, just like my father. He tried to teach me how to control it, but it was hard. One night, during a full moon, I transformed and hurt someone I cared about. My father took the blame to protect me, but the villagers found out and turned against us. My family had to leave, and we've been on the run ever since. Coming to college was supposed to be my chance to start over, to be normal, but now...this."
His voice broke, and he took a moment to compose himself. "I've always been scared of my own nature, of what I could become. But meeting you guys has made me feel less alone."
The room fell into a heavy silence, each of them lost in their thoughts. Their shared confessions had brought them closer, weaving their fates together more tightly than ever before. Despite their dire circumstances, a sense of hope began to flicker in their hearts.
Y/n looked at her friends, her determination renewed. "We can't let them keep us here," she said firmly. "We have to find a way to escape."
Taehyung nodded in agreement. "We're stronger together," he said. "We can figure this out."
Hobi's eyes shone with resolve. "We have to be careful, but we can do this. We'll find a way out."
As they strategized and shared ideas, a plan began to form. They knew it wouldn't be easy, but they also knew they had something powerful on their side: their unbreakable bond and the strength drawn from their shared pasts.
With each passing hour, their resolve grew stronger. The fear and uncertainty that had once clouded their minds began to dissipate, replaced by a fierce determination to reclaim their freedom. They knew they had to be smart, to outthink their captors and use their unique abilities to their advantage.
As the night wore on, Y/n, Taehyung, and Hobi whispered their plans, their voices low but filled with conviction. They would escape, they would uncover the truth about their powers, and they would face whatever challenges lay ahead—together. Their pasts had shaped them, but their future was still theirs to write.
