kim taehyung reentered the castle with pride. he had just faced a werewolf and came away with no scratches whatsoever... not like the werewolf had any vampire bites of his own. the prince strolled up the steps and into his father's room. which was occupied by what taehyung was guessing, his mother and his father himself. he knocked thrice, and the door swung open.
"hello, father." taehyung greeted, eyes wandering his room as he neared the king. the king was being pampered, his hair being cared for, his pale skin, pale, dead skin being covered with light makeup to make him look more lively. a huge ruby red crown sat on top of his scalp. it almost looked painful to wear, weighing down his hair so it looked as if it had been wetted.
"son, i needed to see you actually-about your duties. you are aware that as a prince, you don't do that much for the kingdom yet, correct?" taehyung scoffed, not like the king did much either. "your job is to set up vampire armies if needed, and watch over the citizens to make sure they aren't breaking the codes."
some break down, in case you might be confused. basically, other beings lived in barrowdell, but each species have their own kingdom. except for warlocks, they live alone, with no ruler, in little dens, in the warlock woods. werewolves have an alpha, vampires a king, fairies a queen, etc. they all have their own regions, but the species can mix and live in other kingdoms if rejected by their own kind. which is why these rejected, exiled beings living in other kingdoms, need a little more watch than the others. on a meeting, called the half moon meeting, everyone of importance from each kingdom meets at the grand center, which is in the center of all the kingdoms. pretty simple, right?
taehyung scoffed, "if anyone breaks the code they'll have my fangs in their throat. i'm hungry anyways." the codes- basically just being a decent human being. don't do anything stupid. and preferably marry within your own species. surely, you could marry outside of your own species... but it was highly frowned upon. it was self explanatory. not like taehyung was going to marry. he didn't want someone dragging him down.
"do you have any blood i can drink? i'm exhausted." taehyung smirked as his father rose from his spot and neared the small unit full of bags of cold blood. he kept one in his room for hunger. if a vampire is hungry enough, and they see or smell blood, they will lose control. they will feed. no matter who falls victim, their parents, their siblings, friends, lovers. even if they drain them completely of blood, it's inevitable.
taehyung gladly took the bag of blood given to him. he always wondered what species of blood this was. it somewhat tasted like animal blood, though. so perhaps nobody was in harm by obtaining this blood. he let his fangs grow as he punctured the bag of blood and feasted on the contents in the bag. it was soon sucked up and devoured as his noticeable hunger left him.
"son, i have a request. do you know the warlock on the outskirts of the grand center? he owes me quite a bit of payment after i saved him from a werewolf attack. mind going to get him? bring him here."
warlocks can just portal to places, so the request seemed dumb, but taehyung knew that his father was only trying to get him to prove that he could handle something simple like this. the prince nodded solemnly and turned away. he was kinda glad he didn't have to endure the death stare his mother was giving him. ever since baekhyun's mother had been staked, and his mother had joined the family and had him, the tension between everyone seemed too high. too high for taehyung to handle for long.
taehyung left the room in a flash, leaving a hue of red smoke behind him as he traveled. the night was still young, so he knew he could make it to the grand center in time, before the sun rose for good and burned his skin off. taehyung ran down the castle steps and into the streets of the night. it was crowded with vampires, partying and hanging out under the lights that were strung over the buildings.
taehyung darted through them, not in the mood for loud music and drinking. not tonight at least. he'd come close to the vampire kingdom end, mainly because the castle was the closest thing to the border, other than a few stray houses. he neared the grand center, and it was vacant as perusal. other than during the half moon meeting of course.
the vampire squinted, searching for any unwanted presence. alas, he was alone. taehyung headed directly toward the warlock den on the side of the grand center. the house was tall, the roof pointed, the sides of the building wrapped in a purple hue. all warlocks had purple eyes, everyone had set eye colors, the only exception being if you were royal, in which your eyes would turn yellow in powerful moments.
taehyung strolled right along to the warlock's door. he knocked twice. the door wasted no time and flung open, but no one stood at the other side. taehyung invited himself in. then, finally a man appeared in front of him, perhaps coming from another room. "ah, yes. the new prince of the vampire kingdom. i wasn't expecting you, taehyung."
taehyung eyed the boy, he had purple hair that was sort of curly, and his eyes reflected that same purple color. he had on a long black robe that glittered. taehyung knew this man, this 411 year old warlock. min yoongi. he was quite powerful, but snarky and hard to get.
"i'm here to escort you to the vampire kingdom. it seems that you and my father have unfinished business." taehyung checked the window, the sun was starting to show behind the clouds, turning the sky an orange color. he needed to hurry this up.
"i'll only go for a payment." the warlock smirked evilly, slamming the front door closed with a blast of purple smoke. turning on his heels. "last time i went there, i nearly had the life drained from my body from your horrid brother. you need to tame that man."
taehyung sighed, "if it were me i'd have him dead."
