playing with fire
-playing with fire-

one more long night until the half moon meeting, taehyung was sleeping somewhat peacefully as he regained his energy. the energy which was drained when he was burned by the sun. things around the kingdom were at a low, vampires mourning loss, the night long parties had stopped temporarily. in respect for the dead.
sure, vampires can live forever, but they can still be killed physically, which removes their immortality. taehyung awoke when the sun went to sleep. his father was out and about, in the kingdom, repairing houses. taehyung didn't know how exactly he could help, but he knew he had to find a way to give some kind of support after such an unplanned attack.
taehyung slipped on a purple robe that was made of silk, pretty gemstones outlined his collar, and a swirling black design coated the purple fabric. the robe was stunning, and he hoped to not ruin it. he also wore black pants to go along with the design. taehyung was still satisfied from his last drink, but that didn't mean he still didn't crave warm blood.
taehyung knew he couldn't look for something in the wolf woods, he didn't want to start that trouble again- and if he dare entered the warlock woods, an evil spell might as well be casted upon him. taehyung paced his room, how could he manage to taste even just a little of fresh, warm blood?
taehyung stared at himself in the mirror, he looked bad. he just had to wait, maybe for the half moon meeting. perhaps he could get an offer there. he'd leave his room, his eyes weary and fuzzy. taehyung made his way down the hallway, trying his best to stay out of anyone's sight, preferably away from baekhyun's line of vision. the more he argued, the more energy he wasted.
his father approached him soon enough, immediately noticing the change in his son's mood. the king also looked relatively tired, and taehyung easily spotted a burn on his neck. it was really brave, what the king had done to protect his son. taehyung gave his father a small, respectful smile as his father gripped his shoulder tight. "hello son, i've got to remind you- the half moon meeting is tomorrow night. make sure that we are extra friendly with any werewolves. we don't want to show our anger for those lost in the fight. it's the mature thing to do."
taehyung nodded along with him. "we don't want anymore wars." the prince seemed uneasy, his fangs dying to get into the flesh of something warm and delicious. he'd avoid eye contact. his father could tell something was off, but he didn't bother to ask, knowing taehyung he'd only get a one word answer. he dismissed his son and watched skeptically as he flashed away.
taehyung held onto his ruby crown and he emerged from the castle doors. good, fresh air filled his lungs. he admired the beautiful scenery, the stars that shined down upon the silent streets of the towns. he jogged down the winding steps that led to the inclined castle. the vampire prince was gleaming with yellow hue as he strolled on the stone paths.
he'd pause- perhaps to adore the silence. well, somewhat silence. snap! what was this? someone trespassing? he was quite close to the borders of the vampire kingdom, so he turned on his heels and flashed to the side, but then he remembered, the ward between the kingdom. he couldn't cross the small wall that separated the kingdom. a wall of purple smoke, mostly transparent, stood in front of him. his yellow eyes stared into the dark trees, and a pair of blue eyes started right back. a werewolf? out this late?
"we keep running into each other." the werewolf spoke, and taehyung immediately knew who it was. the werewolf from before who had attacked him, told on him, created a war- but still saved him from a horrible, death in flames.
"why are you so close to the vampire kingdom?" taehyung's eyes flashed red, the yellow seeming to fade from around his figure. he was calm- until he released that for once, a warm being- with warm blood stood before him. he felt his fangs growing.
"well, i heard about the ward. i wanted to see if the warlock actually put it up or not. i didn't expect to see you out of the castle. due to your injuries, but i suppose you are closer to that warlock than i thought. especially if he did you a favor without pay." the werewolf said through the ward, his blue eyes baring into the vampire prince's. taehyung narrowed his eyes at the single thought of yoongi being anything more than his acquaintance.
"if you are suggesting that i've been to bed with him, you're far from correct. let's just say that he owes our kingdom quite a lot." taehyung paused to place his hand on his chin, he was salivating. the meal in front of him too close not to grasp beneath his hands and dig his fangs into.
the werewolf noticed this, a sly grin appearing on his face. "am i worth drooling for, prince?" he'd laugh, his eyes sparkling with amusement. taehyung found it utterly disgusting, withdrawing his hand from his chin and letting his jaw fall.
"most definitely not!" the prince sputtered in shock. "i'm just incredibly hungry. drinking cold, aged blood isn't in vampire nature. i could kill for a drink of warm blood."
the werewolf bit his lip, feeling frisky. "what a shame, this ward divides us entirely- and my neck is feeling so lonely!" the werewolf traced his hand across the bare skin of his neck, the vampire twitched.
the vampire bared his fangs- and the werewolf knew he was playing with fire. the vampire could surely defuse the ward and drain him of blood in an instant... but he wouldn't! he was a new prince, breaking the code would not serve him well.
"but not to worry, i'll be at the half moon meeting. i'm sure you'll be there as well." the werewolf continued, his eyes flashing a dangerous darker blue. the hair on his arms pricked, the claws on his fingers shiny and intimidating.
the vampire nodded dumbly, watching idly as the werewolf bid farewell, retracing into the thick forest and back into the kingdom of the werewolves. the prince inhaled a deep breath- this werewolf would be the death of him.
