it was cold, cold like taehyung had never felt before. well, he had never felt particularly warm, but now he felt as if he could not even remember what "warm" felt like. he shivered against his clear glass cage, his skin burning and sizzling as the beam of light traveled up his leg. the beam of light was getting bigger, not just a tiny sliver anymore, it was now big and bright, running against his skin like it was a big field of daisies and other flowers. like a kid on a playground, it frolicked up and down his bare skin, burning it to the bone.
taehyung had no energy to scream in pain, his throat hurt from that already. hungry, he was also very hungry. his fangs unwillingly grew every time the alpha squatted down to his level to taunt him. the prince made no action to impale his throat, of course. the glass separated them like iron. the one who controlled the light beam had no mercy, burning swirling patterns on his face sometimes, not that taehyung moved himself away. he just let it burn into his skin.
"i thought you would try to escape more, i thought you would scream more, too. i didn't know you would be this boring." the alpha sighed, sinking down beside the cage and staring with his great, marvelous blue eyes. taehyung wished he didn't find them so pretty. he wished they belonged to someone else's face instead, someone more worthy.
"i'm sorry for not entertaining you enough." taehyung hissed out weakly, one last attempted yank of his chains. nothing happened. taehyung could feel his fangs growing, not as if he could sink them into any warm flesh.
"it seems as if the little blood sucker is hungry. any volunteers?" the alpha roared into the crowd of werewolves. he heard a chain of laughter from them.
"as if i'd let one of those nasty creatures near me!" one growled, well a growl that sounded like a yell to taehyung. it was al blurry, all red. taehyung closed his eyes, which flashed weakly between yellow and red. why was he so powerless? perhaps the light, draining his energy as he breathed.
circles and lines, crosses and marks and burns littered his skin like tattoos. nothing would make the vampire prince lift his head, not even the smell of the dead rodent presented to him for food.
he wouldn't feast in shame, not even if he was this hungry. he would not rid of his pride, even if that meant dying of hunger, right in the cage. taehyung forbid himself from looking at the possum that laid in a "c" shape at one corner of the cage. a werewolf had chunked it over the top of the cage, which was too far up there for taehyung to reach. taehyung took this time to rest, rest instead of giving them what they so desperately wanted.
they wanted taehyung to fall over in sobs, pleading, begging the alpha to let him go, to spare him. taehyung knew he could not give them what they wanted. even when the alpha squatted to his level and conversed, he said nothing. taehyung took this time to try and sleep, to forget about the burning pain that raked throughout his body as the light swerved over sensitive areas.
he took in the scenery, as strange as it was, boxes were stacked up in a corner. those new ones, that said you were moving in. the vampire guessed it was because the alpha had recently moved into the den. he also saw many werewolves residing in this den, which wasn't usual. usually, the werewolves roamed the city like normal people. the vampires didn't all live in the castle.
the alpha den was part of the castle, it was like the alpha's quarter. just like the vampires have a royal quarter. the alpha usually lived alone, maybe having immediate family nearby, but not all of these hungry looking werewolves were related to the alpha. no way. taehyung knew that these innocent people were being brainwashed by alpha commands.
he just hoped that whenever that person, or- people came to save him, that they wouldn't slay too many innocent people in the process.
