Chapter Two:
TW: ALL
Cer leapt from her seat on the step and ran to her Mom. She felt the weight of every step she took.
She watched in horror as her Mom's bloody body slumped down the sidewalk. "Mom!", Cer screamed out, trying in any way, shape, or form to save her only parent.
"Cer...run.", She said, her eyes rolling to the back of her head. Cer obeyed, galloping away to who know's where. She jolted to a stop to clear her head. Ducking behind a bush, thoughts scrambled through her mind. She organized them, questions on the left, and realizations on the right. She picked a question, "Who is doing this?", No answer came to mind. She picked a realization, "I'm alone because my whole family is dead.", Very true...very...terrifying.
Cer cautiously peeked at the house, looking for her Mom. She was gone... Cer had so many questions.
Cer walked into the house, and screamed in horror. Blood splatted the wall. It was sickening. It was a...blood bath. Bodies were scattered all around, blood pooling around them. Cer's eyes darted around the chaos. She looked up towards the chandelier and gasped..
"We will find you.", Thick blood dripped down the ceiling, droplets landing on Cer's forehead. "They-..who-...", Cer's head spiraled and she collapsed to the floor.
Regaining some form of consciousness, Cer heard a man sigh and bend over her. "At last we meet, Cer.", He smiled, devilishly. Cer held her head and sat up, "And who are you?", She scooted away.
He grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet, "Tyrian Aztel, at your service. Everyone calls me Ty." Cer glared at him and dusted off her jeans, "Cer Cyprus. Everyone calls me C.C."
Cer looked at him. He had sharp, fiesty green eyes. Black anime boy-ish hair, parted straight down the middle. Around 17-18 years old. Unbelievably anime-like.
"You look like you are straight out of Tokyo Ghoul..-", Cer raised an eyebrow. "Uhm-...thanks?", Ty ran his fingers through his hair.
"Why are you here?", Cer asked. "Well, there's a lot to explain.", Ty began to explain everything..
"You..", Cer laughed in disbelief, "You a c t u a l l y expect me to believe that?" Ty stared at her and nodded.
"Oh. I get it. Try to toy with the new girl? Come to find her, fainted, after her parents were just MURDERED and you decide it might be fun to play with her?", Cer shoved him in the chest.
"Cer-...I'm being serious.", His eyes filled with hurt, but he quickly blinked it away, "Ever since I was 13, I have been your protector..you ARE the rightful leader of the UnNaturals."
Cer bit her lip, "You are kidding, right?" Ty shook his head. "Damn..", She slunk to the floor again.
"So they died trying to protect me..", Cer said, looking at her hands, inspecting every detail, "Then you failed at your job, buddy.."
"I-...it's complicated. My job is complicated. Your parents chose that, to say the least. The U.N.C.A came after them, and I wasn't allowed to protect them, only you.", Ty looked into Cer's brown and yellow speckled eyes.
"What's the U.N.C.A?" "The UnNatural Cleaning Association."
"So, I'm being hunted for being an unnatural, meaning I have powers?", Cer asked. "Yes. We are all being hunted for being 'dangerous monsters'. ", Ty rolled his eyes.
"We..?", Cer looked up at Ty. "Oh, yeah, there's so many unnaturals, especially here in Peru. I am one of them.", Ty smirked.
"So, what are my powers?", She asked.
"That's the fun part about being the head of the group. All you need is just learn them. The rest of us are born with a specific set of skills that we have to learn to control. For example..", Ty swiped his hand over a body's stab wound. It healed, but the person did not revive.
"And there are limits to our abilities and rules and regulations and ughhhhhhhh. It's a lot but you'll get used to it." Ty smiled at Cer.
"So, what now..Ty?", Cer asked, his name rolling off her tongue smoothly. Ty smirked and blushed slightly at his name being said by Cer.
"I have no idea...C.C...", Ty leaned over her, his eyes slowly moving from her eyes to her lips and back again.
Then he snapped back to reality.
S h i t.
He was her protector, he couldn't ever BE with her or like her. This was all a illogical fantasy in his head. Besides, he shook his head, she barely knew him. Ty glanced at Cer, who was completely oblivious to his gaze, humming her "safe song" which made her feel safe in scary situations.
Ty smiled softly at her, then the smile faded to a frown. He had to bury all these feelings.
Cer tugged at the charm on her necklace, "So..seriously, what next?"
Ty stared into her eyes. Pretty. Kind. Colorful.
"Ty..?" Cer waved at him. "Oh, yeah, um, we can introduce you to the rest of the UnNatural commitee. We really need to come up with an official name for that.", Ty chuckled.
"When do I get to learn to use my powers-...", Cer asked, walking alongside Ty on the sidewalk. Ty looked straight ahead and responded, "That is up to the elder."
Cer raised her eyebrows, "The Eld-..", Ty pulled her behind a tree.
"Shit! Ty, what the hell???", Cer said. Ty shushed her, and pulled down a tree branch. Cer watched, intrigued.
The stump of the tree separated from the trunk, and sunk into the ground, revealing a flight of stairs.
Ty looked around and led Cer down the stairs.
Cer walked into the main room, where dozens of UnNaturals were zig zagged around, chatting, eating and drinking, discussing work that needed to be done but would never.
A blond boy laughed at the pool table in the corner, and caught eyes with Cer. He leaned on his pool cue, "Well, who do we have here?", Cer's eyes got wide.
"This is the Elder.", Ty rolled his eyes at Cer's amazement with the boy.
"When you said Elder, I thought crusty old man.", Cer laughed, "He is..far...from that."
The Elder gave Cer the look over, "So, who are you?"
Cer furrowed her brow, "He just told you? I'm Cer-..people call me C.C."
The Elder slide his pool cue back into the basket, "No, C.C, I did not ask for your name. I asked who you are. Name is merely a label on your identity. Names can be deceiving, hence 'The Elder'. Who you ARE can never be changed. You can change as the years go by, but you have your roots that have been and always will be who you are. Sooooo..", The Elder leaned an elbow on Cer's shoulder, "Unroot the stems of your personality. Discover the seeds of yourself." He swiped his hand in the air.
"Who. Is. Cer.", Cer whispered to herself, her eyes shut tightly....
