The Warrior Returns

The creature reveals himself to be Shingen, a ronin hailing from the Feudal Japanese epoch. He declares that he had been cursed with immortality after a pact he had made with the Shinto god Kagutsuchi to defend his homeland from the malevolent forces of a tyrannical dictator hell-bent on the destruction of his homeland. He recounts how he had once fought the Great Emperor Godaigo possessed by the evil spirit of Amatsu Mikaboshi and in exchange for his enhanced abilities he had agreed to serve as Kagutsuchi's eternal slave which turned him into a creature of the night, barely alive by feeding on blood.

Alan and Rachel are both initially suspicious, pin the murders of local innocent villagers on him, and choose not to believe his words.

"Why should we believe your fantastical tales? What proof have you got that will make us believe you?" Alan retorted.

Shinji initially kept mum, then continued "I know you won't believe me but I didn't slaughter those people"

"Lies! You are ... a vile abomination. If not you then who or what?"

Haruto and Rachel upon closely inspecting the severely degraded royal seal engraved on Shinjen's armor and swords confirm his tales to be more or less true.

"I can vouch for him" Haruto exclaimed as he explains the stories foretold by his grandfather passed down from his ancestors long back but he never thought them to be more than mere fairy tales.

Shingen exclaims that Ishii and his colleagues intend to unleash a horde of deformed mutated creatures created from the various test subjects they had brought in and by extracting the vestigial occult powers from him as a means to power some kind of a secret project. Haruto lends further credence to Shinjen's claims that during his time held captive he had overheard some soldiers talking about a sub-basement level of the facility where even the highest-ranking soldiers were prohibited to enter and only Gen. Ishii and Dr. Shinozuka has access.

"That must be it! Project Black Sun!" Alan exclaimed.

Alan and Rachel brainstorm about their next step of infiltration into the facility while Haruto returns to his family to look after them. On rendezvous Alan discloses that he has to leave without Rachel, Shingen begs Alan that he should take him along as he might be able to help.

Alan refuses curtly,

"Are you out of your god-damn mind? You are a freaking vampire by all accounts and you think I'm going to leave you out in the open, risking innocent civilian lives just for some reconnaissance intel?" Forget it freak! You ain't going nowhere until I have had my way with you".

"I know my unquenchable bloodlust is a pressing concern, but I have a better idea" Shingen exclaims when he shares his thoughts which Alan finds intriguing nonetheless.
