Dance Around
Noah was a bit scared of Madelina. Not that he wasn't justified in being so. Madelina mostly ignored him or glared at him, and he just sort of stood in a corner and kept quiet.
Inky asked Madelina if she was going to see Roxanne.
"Of course," said Madelina "Roxanne is my friend, and you aren't going to sour our relationship. Just keep your mouth shut, and we won't have any trouble."
Roxanne was wearing a tulle minidress. The bodice was a jet black and shimmery, with a low-cut sweetheart collar. Her hair was down, and had a black rose crown on her head, and clunky high-heel boots. She wore a lot of makeup, at least compared to Madelina.
"Madelina! I'm so glad to see you!" Roxanne held Madelina's hands. Madelina smiled, "The feeling is mutual. Let's go get some snacks."
As Madelina drank ginger ale, Inky urged her to be careful. "Please don't slow dance with her, it won't end well." "Thanks for the idea!" replied Madelina.
Madelina saw Victoria and some of her friends pass by. Victoria had a bright purple dress.
Once Victoria sees Madelina, she began to walk faster, along with her friends. Madelina chuckled and walked towards Roxanne.
"Did you hear the rumors that I'm secretly a demon?" Madelina asked Roxanne. "Oh, yes, of course! I couldn't believe that a kind woman, such as yourself, could ever be involved in diabolics!" Madelina's response was a formal and unemotional "Why, thank you." Roxanne took Madelina by the hand and asked if she'd like to slow dance with her. Madelina agreed, and Inky groaned.
As they danced, Madelina was lost in thought. It is clear Roxanne has a crush on her, but it is completely once sided. It was also clear she didn't know how to tell her. But if her memory serves her right, Roxanne doesn't handle rejection well. She wondered if the crush was the reason she reconnected with her. There was only one way to know-the forbidden scrapbook.
"Hey, Madelina," Madelina refocused "you seem a bit out of it." "Oh, no, I'm fine! Parties like this exhaust me easily." Roxanne put her hand on Madelina's shoulder. "I understand. The party is starting to die down anyway." Roxanne smiled, but Madelina turned her attention to Noah. "Roxanne, I don't mean to be rude, but I think I should leave now." "Do you really need to? Can't you stay a little bit longer?" "I don't feel like staying right now." "Just 5 more minutes?" "I'm so sorry, Roxanne, but I really must be going."
Madelina thought about the problem once she got home. Is confronting Roxanne about what may just be friendliness and affection the best way to go about it? Inky disagreed. "She'll be heartbroken, and then angry. And then she'll fucking kill you!" Madelina was taken aback. "A bit of a leap, don't you think?" "People aren't usually who you think you are." Madelina thought a bit. "I have heard some rather nasty rumors, and I have seen her engage in clingy behavior, and she just broke up with her last boyfriend when I met her. She seems to like being in relationships more than being single." Inky began to move more. "I still think she's crazy." "What makes you say that?" "I already fucking told you-I know the type!" Madelina changed the subject, feeling this conversation was going nowhere, and feeling that Inky's behavior was improving. He deserved a treat.
'Hey Inky,' said Madelina "Do you like chocolate?"
