⚣thirty eight
"look at them." jimin's lips parted in awe as he looked at all of the huge orange pumpkins in the large field.
dozens upon dozens of square areas were filled with many small trails of vines all connected to the big round vegetables.
the small black haired male placed one of his hands right above his eyes to shield them from the growing wind as he peeked over his fingers to try and find a couple perfect medium sized ones they could bring home and spend the day decorating.
"these ones are cute." taehyung kneeled down to look at a tiny, still growing batch. "they look like you."
offendedly, the older boy stuck out his bottom lip in a little pout, crossing his arms on his chest and huffing up his body as if to make his small frame look bigger.
"no they don't."
taehyung gave him a glance as if responding with 'yeah right' without even opening up his mouth.

the two boys were sat down in the younger male's apartment at the dining table with multiple tools designed for cutting and shaping all around them.
in the middle of the table were two not too large, but also not too small pumpkins just waiting to be carved into.
"i think it's good." taehyung smiled in approval at the design jimin had drawn on the vegetable's orange thick skin with a black sharpie as an outline.
it was a simplistic expression of joy, but the fact that jimin had been so happy just to carve a pumpkin this year -no matter how common or overused- taehyung was of course satisfied.
"ready to start?"
jimin thanked the red haired male when he handed him a small carving knife to start shaping out the slightly slanted design he drew out.
they had already emptied out the insides of the pumpkin and had the seeds in the oven, ready to bake.
carefully tracing the dark sharpie markings, jimin poked his tongue out just the slightest bit, trying his best to keep his full concentration on what he was doing so he wouldn't mess up.
"i'm home!" a loud voice shouted from the door, just the other room away.
taehyung rolled his eyes at his roommate, but continued on watching his boyfriend carve out what he wanted on the pumpkin like a child trying to stay in the lines of their favorite coloring book so that their parents would proudly hang up the picture on the fridge.
jungkook set a bag of some sort down on the counter, not bothering to greet the two. "i got some take out for all of us."
"oh, that's good i'm really hungry- damn!"
taehyung laughed loudly when he saw the mistake jimin had made.
he was supposed to have cut around the eyes to leave space for a pupil, but instead he had accidentally cut it all out.
"hey, jimin." the two sitting at the table both looked up at the voice. "you think we could talk?"
jimin tore his eyes away from the pumpkin, looking at his gray haired friend confusedly, not even noticing that he had came in with jungkook.
"uh," jimin glanced over at taehyung for a second, almost as if making sure it was okay. "alright."
the pair exited the room, just to go plop down on the living room couch awkwardly siting with quite a bit of distance between them.
"so are you wanting to talk, or are you going to keep telling me to stop being with taehyung and ignore me when i don't?"
a sigh escaped yoongi's lips. "listen, i know i have been overreacting about everything, and i'm sorry."
jimin bit back a smile, knowing he should not accept the apology until yoongi agreed to stop being so opposing towards his relationship.
"i know taehyung's not a bad person, but he's never tried to commit to anyone before and i didn't want you to get your hopes up just to be let down when things didn't work out."
"the only thing not working out is us right now. if anyone let me down, it was you, yoongi." the younger of the two hugged one of the decorative sofa pillows to his chest.
"i know." yoongi swallowed the saliva in his mouth to moisten his drying throat.
a silence fell among them, not really because they didn't want to speak to each other, but rather because they were trying to figure out the right way to explain their feelings.
"even if you don't like it, i'm not going to end things with him. i'll always respect you, but it wouldn't be right to myself to listen to you over my feelings this time."
unexpectedly, yoongi didn't look angry or annoyed at what jimin had just said.
instead, he nodded, actually caring enough for his long time childhood friend to listen to and accept what he wanted to do- even if it went against his own desires.
"i'll try to be more understanding and accepting then. friends?" yoongi stuck out his pinky finger as if they were making a promise.
a grin spread on jimin's lips, his smile shining brightly as he happily locked his tiny finger with the older's slim one. "always."
