Chapter 6

Elena was asked if she was okay 20 times, all by different people. After a while it got tiring and she looked through her notes.

"This is all good for a report," she muttered and that's when a camera crew showed up.

"We heard you were there for the fight, by some other people," a reporter said and she shook her head.

"I don't know what people saw, but I wasn't there," she shrugged. They nodded and walked off.

She smiled softly as she remembered that she was able to speak to Spider-Man without actually drooling. She walked up to a policeman and tapped his shoulder.

"Uhm, one of the men, who caused this, is somewhere in the water, a car knocked him off," she said and he nodded, she walked away, hearing him talking into his talkie.

When they made it to shore, Elena snuck off to Daily Bugle. She pulled her badge out and clipped it on. She noticed that she was on TV.

"Oh god," Elena muttered, she went out to the elevator and made it to the top floor. People walked up to her, hands on her shoulders, asking how she was.

"I have the story of a lifetime," She announced and people cheered. She went to Jameson.

"Kid, you okay?" He asked and she nodded.

"You're not gonna believe the stuff I saw," Elena said.

"Try me," Jameson said and she lifted up her notepad, and her phone that had a photo of Spider-Man and the Vulture. Elena explained everything that she saw, smiling through the whole thing.

"You need to write this story, word for word," he said and she nodded.

"Bring that interview with Tony Stark too, I bet he made that suit," he said and Elena nodded.

"Do you want me to write it out anywhere specific? Because I have a laptop at home that I can email you the article with," she said and he nodded.

"That's perfect, send a good photo to photography, this is front page news," he said. Elena looked over at the tv screen where the camera crew walked up to her, her hair was half chopped onscreen.

She realized how bad that made her look. She sighed and pulled it up in a bun, a few strands falling out. She looked at Jameson and stuck out a hand.

"You'll be seeing an email from me in the near future," she smiled as he shook it and she walked off to photography.

"Hey there, Jameson told me to get you a photo of the fight between Spider-Man and this new super villain," she said.

"Alright, let me see it," he said and Elena pulled up the first one that had a clear view of Spider-Man and the Vulture.

"That's perfect, email it to this address," he said and wrote it out.

She did and saw the screen pop up with a new email.

She smiled and looked at the man.

"Nice meeting you," She said and walked off. Elena sighed and felt her phone ring for the one-hundredth time that day and saw that her mom was calling.

"Honey? Oh my god I saw you on TV, what were you doing on the Ferry? I thought you were in the internship!" She said and Elena smiled.

"Jameson sent me on a story lead, I'm writing it when I get home to email it to him," she said and turned down the street, walking down to the bus.

"Your hair was horrendous, meet me at the haircutter down the street from the school," her mom said, making Elena turn on her heel and go to the subway.

"See you then," Elena said and noticed her mom hung up. She sighed softly as she got onto the subway.

Elena sat in her seat, she looked around and saw a familiar head of curls.

There, a few seats down, was Peter Parker, in flip flops, hello kitty sweatpants and a tee shirt saying 'I survived my trip to NYC!'.

If only he knew of her one trip to NYC.

She looked away as he looked up and around.

"Elena?" He asked and she looked up.

Fuck, she thought.

He stood up and walked over to her, sitting next to her.

"We need to talk," he said and she raised an eyebrow.

"You won't be able to get that interview with Spider-Man," he said somberly.

Elena scoffed and crossed her eyebrows.

"How would you know that, Parker?" She asked venom spat in his name, making him wince.

"That, I can't tell you, just yet, but please, bare with me," he said softly and looked down at his lap.

Elena observed his posture. He had a defeated slouch.

"What have you gotten yourself into Parker?" she said, shutting her eyes and leaning her head back on the window.

"I don't know at this point," he said and she looked at him.

"I would hug you, but you smell like garbage, I'll see you Monday," Elena said and put a hand on his shoulder. Peter looked up and over at her, he gave a small smile and nodded, looking back at his hands.

Elena stood up and ruffled his hair.

"Aunt May is worried sick, so just a warning," she said before getting off at her stop.

She turned one last time to see Peter staring up at her. They stared until the doors shut and he was whisked off.

She turned and walked up to see the school, she walked down the street where the barber's lights were on.

Elena let her hair down as her mom stood by the door.

"Oh honey, you need to tell me everything," she said as they walked in.

And as she was sat down, she explained to both her mother and the barber what had happened on the Ferry.

"Neither of you can say anything about it until the stories released," Elena said.

Her mom smiled as Elena's hair was blow dried.

"Oh my God you look amazing," she said as the dye in the hair dried.

Elena was spun around to see that her hair naturally curled up, letting the ombre look more natural. She gasped and held it.

"I don't remember ever looking this good," she said softly and smiled.

"Thank you," she said to the barber, making him shrug.

"Just my job," he said and she chuckled.

Her mom and her stood up, Elena paid for it with some of her mothers' money and they walked out.

"If Peter doesn't see the light through this, then he was dropped on his head," her mom tired making Elena smile a bit more and she laughed.

"We're trying I guess," she said and her mom nodded.

But Elena couldn't get what he said to her out of her head.

"You won't be able to get that interview with Spider-Man"
