Chapter Three: Potential
It was three weeks later that Izuku got his letter from UA. In all that time he hadn't heard anything about his results from Toshi, which irked him greatly.
*Two weeks ago*
"Come onnn Toshi, how did I do??? I'm dying here!!!"
"I'm not saying a word Izuku. The school needs to tell you themselves that you failed miserably."
"Toshiiii.."
Izuku blinked into the living room.
"Toshi, mum, it came!!" He said.
"Well? Open it then!" Toshinori said.
Izuku opened the letter with trembling hands.
A metallic disk fell out. The disc activated, and a holographic screen appeared on the wall.
"BOOYA, I AM HERE, as a projection!" All Might's voice boomed.
"So you did the recordings for everyone's results.." Izuku muttered.
"Ahem. Young Midoriya. You did incredibly well on the written portion of the exam, scoring an excellent 89 out of 100! Well done!"
Inko cheered, and Toshinori smiled, but the best was yet to come.
"Now, as for the practical exam.." holo-might began.
A noticeable sweat drop ran down his forehead.
"My word young man, do you know the true meaning of Plus Ultra already? Your score was incredible, adding up a hidden scoring system, and the robots you punted into space, you have not only broken, destroyed, and absolutely obliterated my own standing record, you have also caught the eye of the principal himself. It goes without saying young man, that you have been accepted as the best freshman the school has ever seen."
With that, the recording cut off.
Inko almost screamed with joy, while Toshinori was laughing, patting his protoge on the back.
Izuku cheered, wrapping his mother in a hug and dancing around the living room.
A few weeks later and Izuku Blinked into UA alongside Toshinori.
"Good luck Izuku, I'll see you out front after school." He said.
"Have a good day at work Toshi!" Izuku replied.
Izuku walked off down the halls, rounding the corner and spotting 1A immediately.
"Man that's a big door. Accessibility perhaps?" He said to himself.
The greenette opened the door, freezing when he saw the spectacle at the front of the classroom.
"Please remove your feet from the desk, that is truly disrespectful to our upperclassmen and the ones who made the desk!" Iida told an irritated looking Bakugo.
"What's it to you, you extra? I'm going to have fun crushing your side character ass!" The blonde replied.
Izuku blinked the chair Bakugo was swinging on a few inches back, making him fall on his ass hard.
Most of the class began to laugh, watching the angry bomb's karma in action.
"Damn. I guess that's what happens when your feet are on the desk Bakugo." Izuku said, keeping a straight face.
Bakugo's head whipped around.
"Deku! What the hell are you doing here?" He looked back at the chair that made him fall, then scowled, his darkened expression turning to the greenette.
"You little-"
"Midoriya! It's good to see you again!" Iida interrupted.
Izuku smiled at his classmate.
"Likewise Iida. I'm glad you made it."
"Midoriya! Iida! You made it!" Uraraka exclaimed from behind Izuku.
"Uraraka! I'm glad to see you made it also!" Iida said.
Izuku was about to speak, but a voice from the floor interrupted him.
"If you're just here to make friends, then you can leave." A dark haired man in a bright yellow sleeping bag said from the floor.
He stood unzipping the bag and stepping out of it.
"I am your homeroom teacher, Shota Aizawa. Put these on and head outside." He continued.
Izuku was the first on the field, before even Aizawa arrived. Aizawa stared at the teen for a moment, before standing before him. He seemed angry.
The rest of the class trickled onto the field, forming a ragged line infront of their teacher.
"We'll be doing a quirk apprehension test. Bakugo, step forwards. what was your furthest ball throw in primary school?"
"About 60 meters." The blonde replied.
"Throw this, but use your quirk to boost it. Stay inside the circle." Aizawa said, handing the blonde a ball.
Bakugo grinned, taking a pitchers stance and blasting the ball into he distance with an explosion.
Aizawa raised his phone to the class, showing them the number displayed there.
"703.5 meters. This will be your benchmark. The stage at which you will improve yourselves from. Now, next person, step up." Aizawa said.
Each member of the class did the ball throw, until Izuku was the only one left.
He walked up to Aizawa, who did not hand him a ball.
"Izuku Midoriya." Aizawa sighed. "I have no idea how you got into UA. I was watching during the test, and the only robot you approached was the zero pointer. You got lucky, with the rescue points that let you pass, but this is UA. You either go all out or not at all. If you think you can just breeze through like you did during the exams, then you're dead wrong."
Aizawa handed him a ball, scowling at the greenette.
Izuku paused.
*What is he talking about? I got the highest score in recorded history, how could I have breezed through that??*
Izuku sighed, turning around and walking to the circle.
"All out you say..?" He said, a slightly sadistic grin spreading across his features.
Izuku stepped into the circle, and then turned right back around and rejoined the class.
Everyone but Bakugo looked at him in confusion, and Aizawa looked about ready to strangle him.
Izuku grinned at his teacher, raising his hands and shrugging.
Aizawa hesitated.
Where was the ball?
He looked down at the screen and paled.
Uraraka was awarded infinity, because she got it into space. It was currently at 214,338 km and counting. It was travelling at a slow pace of a meter every few seconds.
Izuku had gotten infinity too, but it had travelled so far that the ball was registered as 'out of range'.
This was one of Nezu's devices. They didn't do 'out of range'.
Aizawa looked back up at the greenette, realising he'd made a horrible mistake.
Area B. The missing robots.
Next was the 50 meter sprint.
Izuku was awarded an 'error' because his time was too fast for the robot to even calculate.
Izuku broke the machine in the grip strength test.
He received another 'error' during the sideways steps.
He got infinity on the long jump, because he ended up in America in 3 seconds. The 3 seconds were the machine struggling to locate him, until Izuku returned and told him where he'd been.
He outlasted everyone but Iida on the endurance run, and even then the two kept running until Aizawa decided on a tie.
Izuku was beaten by Ashido Mina in the sit-ups, but he came a close second.
Aizawa was slowly losing the will to live. He'd just made a fool of himself at the most capable student the school had ever seen, and he'd been too stupid to even figure out what happened during the exam.
He gave the class their results and staggered off.
"Hehehe, you having it rough Aizawa? How'd Izuku do?" All Might asked.
Aizawa groaned.
"First in everything except sit ups. But I think Ashido Mina does gymnastics of some sort, so that was expected. I'm such a fool..." He sighed.
All Might chuckled at his co worker.
"Well, I can't say you don't deserve it. All you've talked about since the exam is how angry that 'damn green haired cocky brat' makes you. I've been holding my laughter in the whole time! Ahahahaha!"
Aizawa groaned again.
"What even is his quirk?" He asked "I know it's some kind of teleportation from the tests, but that doesn't explain the super strength."
All Might chuckled again.
"I suppose you should gather information on matters you wish to give your opinion on in the future Aizawa." All Might laughed.
"Nezu owes me 500 Yen, he thought it would take at least another day for the kid to surprise you!"
