Chapter 5 - "Fun" Plans

*Charlotte's POV*

There's a limit to things. There's a limit to just how many lies can be told, how many people can be deceived, and how many hearts can be broken. But is there no limit to the number of times one can cheat humanity? Is there no end to the heartless side that finds neither sympathy or love for his or her own child? From my experience, no. There IS no end. It goes on and on. It's said that the bond between parents and children is unbreakable; that the love within it is the kind you can't find anywhere else. I want to know, why was my relationship with my parents created without that love?

I rolled over in the tangled sheets and groaned when I saw the curtains had been pulled back, allowing the bright, unfiltered sunlight to touch my face. Swinging my legs over the side, I sat up and reached for my phone, which was on the side table. I yawned and threw my head back so my upper half was laying on the bed and my legs were hanging off. The house was quite, just as it usually was on weekdays. Mother and Father were away  on some business trip, leaving my all alone in the huge house. I lazily unlocked my phone and it vibrated with a notification: "4 new messages"

From: Danielle Peazer

"Hey, you left in a hurry yesterday.. Hope everything's okay! Call or text back whenever you can xxx"

I smiled and it faltered soon after I remembered the events from last night. Turns out my parents weren't all too mad about finding the camera, since it was broken, and didn't bother to see if I had any photos. What made me happy was the fact that they were clueless enough as to believe that I wouldn't go out and buy another camera. Still, I wasn't so happy about the rambunctious party I was forced to go to. I got up and trudged over to my closet, still scrolling through my messages.

From: Rodneythetwat

"do you want to go out for dinner tonight? Pick you up at 8, my treat ;)"

Rodney thought we were dating, no matter how many times I tried to push him away from my life. He was one of those people that just could not take a hint and one of the most irritating guys I had ever met, hence the contact name. And of course, my parents brought him right back into my life every damn time. I deleted the message and scrolled down to the next while pulling out an outfit.

From: Diana Walters

"The party last night was a blaaaast! You need to hang with us more, Charlotte. Natasha's having a party in a week or so, will you be there?"

I literally gagged after reading that one. The party was anything but a "blaaaast." All of the parents had gone out to some cafe, which left all the teenagers in one room. Of course, within half an hour, almost everyone was dangerously intoxicated. I snuck out and I guess nobody even noticed.

The next message was from an number that wasn't saved into my contacts.

"Hey Char, this is Louis! I got your number from Danielle, hope that's not too creepy... Anyway, you kinda left in a hurry yesterday and I wanted to make sure things were alright. Take care :) xx"

I smiled widely and saved the number into my contacts under "Louis :)." After getting dressed and freshening up, I ran downstairs and into the kitchen, searching for something to eat. What caught my eye was a note taped to the refridgerator.

"Charlotte, your father and I left this morning for a trip to see our client in France. You should be able to take care of yourself. Rodney asked to take you out tonight and I expect you to go. I picked out a dress for you, it's in my bedroom. Please behave, I guarantee there will be paps around. -Rita."

I tore the note up and chucked it into the bin, knowing my mood for the rest of the day was ruined because I would have to go on the stupid date. I grabbed a bowl and poured in some cereal, walking into the living room afterwards. I flipped through channels on the teleivision until the familiar logo of the cooking channel made its way onto the screen. I left it at that and pulled out my cell phone.

To: Danielle Peazer

"I'm alright, I'll explain later. Thanks for checking up on me :) How did the rest of the night go?"

To: Louis :)

"Actually, I find it beyond creepy. Thanks for asking Louis, but everything's good :) Sorry about the abrupt leave."

After deleting and adding words constantly, I finally composed the message to Louis and hit "send."

After some moments spent gazing at the television screen, lost in my own thoughts, my phone rung, signalling the arrival of new messages.

From: Danielle Peazer

"Sounds good :) It was nice! Any fun plans for today? xx"

I replied immediately after.

To: Danielle Peazer

"Well, there're plans, but they're not exactly fun. Date tonight with Rodney.. wish me luck :p"

I closed out the window and checked the other text, which was from Louis.

From: "Louis :)"

"Oh. Good, creepy is good :D Nahh, I understand completely, and so do the guys. I have to go now, we're at the recording studio! It was nice seeing you again last night, Char. From the looks of it, I think we'll be seeing more of each other in the future :) Keep in touch. -Lou xx"

I smiled and wondered why he signed his name at the bottom when I already knew the text was from him. Shaking my head, I replied saying goodbye and that I hoped to see him and the lads soon. I actually was looking forward to it... the boys were all really nice, well with an exception of Harry, and I enjoyed their company... especially Louis'.

My mind was clouded with thoughts as a huge smile conquered my face. I grabbed a cushion from behind me and threw my face into it. Why was I acting this way? It was just a text. And it was just from Louis. He was a normal guy. Well as normal as a world pop sensation who likes to chase his shadows could get. But no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't seem to wipe that stupid, annoying smile off of my face.

My phone rang once again, snapping me out of my dominating thoughts.

From: Danielle Peazer

"Is that the jerk you told me about? Good luck, love.. where is he taking you?x"

To: Danielle Peazer

"Yup, that's him. Well he usually takes me out to The Square. Do you have any idea how tired I am of that restaurant? At least I have until 8 o'clock to relax and, well, not be with Rodney."

I snuggled deeper into the couch and pulled a blanket over myself. Yawning, I checked the time. It was nine o'clock, meaning there was still time to sleep.. at least until eleven o'clock. With that thought in mind, I closed my eyes and effortlessly drifted into a deep sleep, with that irritating smile still plastered across my lips.
